That woman who is scared for the safety of her children is completely hysterical. She can't even talk about the topic and not cry. If I ended up marrying someone like that there would have been a divorce waaayyyy before we had kids.
This "They won't be socialized" phrase is only a cover for they won't follow the herd. THAT'S EXACTLY THE POINT!!! Walmart and the like need schooled people not leaders that think to much and make to many waves!!!
Dr. Phil is commercialized now, and has to go along with all the politically correct agendas. He knows these public schools suck, but can't say it.
I must be a dumbass because I went to government school from 1st to 12th grade and I didn't find anything good about it overall. It's done more harm than good.
as the son of a an administrator and significant other of a career classroom teacher... teachers are no more qualified to raise our children than mcdonalds point of sale operators
You can't just lock your kids away in a building, kept in age segregated rooms, told what to think and when to think it, never able to experience real life.
I can't imagine thinking that school is the only way to go. There is a psychology behind that; like the guy is horribly afraid of what people will say. He's a conformist.
I find it interesting that so many Dads are against, and so many Mums are pro.
Perhaps if the Dads had to experience what it is like to create, grow inside you, nurture, feed, encourage, love, then gets shot because you 'sent it to school';
a corrupt downsized, underfunded, uncaring, rule regulated for the convenience of the administration, not the kids, government agenda ridden institution, to get shouted at, bullied, dumbed down and at worse shot dead,disabled.
oh wow i really feel for this mama, ray anne (sp?)...i have a feelin' that marriage is NOT gonna last. not w/ her passions where they are and hubby bucking her. wow this must be hard, having such differences in learning between spouses.
Ha! Dr. Phil confuses unschooling and homeschooling. I don't think he's qualified to be talking about this subject. He clearly states all the typical teacher's union talking points against homeschooling.
Ok, Dr. Phil isn't qualified to talk about ANYTHING. The man is a moron with an opinion on everything (and there is nothing more annoying!). And a botany degree. Botany is not psychology.
homeschoolers have their own prom uno (I'm in Australia and I know that....and we don't even have prom here!!!) It's common knowledge through studies etc that children who are homeschooled do academically and socially better, 10-15% better than average in English and Math at each age. ALL children at middle school age GO THROUGH PUBERTY AND A BACKWARD STEP!

Dad doesn't want his children to miss out on their first crush on a teacher. And if that teacher acts on that crush? What then?

but that is only some. You can choose to let your children socialize with other children

@mpgarate You know "a few" kids, and "many" are socially awkward?
The homeschoolers who aren't awkward are usually the ones who nobody realizes are homeschooled.
And I think everyone's forgetting that most teenagers are socially awkward. Seriously. They are.
