  • I want this video on my T261L unit.

  • disappointing because this game is extremely CPU-bound. you should run MSI afterburner to prove the gpu usage is tiny. what you need is an i5 2500K for this test at 5+ GHz. then the results would have been better. of course i know this rig is probably long gone. i would LOVE to see 4-way 7970s with an i5 2500K at 5 GHz run this test. that would be more interesting. that and Metro.

  • I get 35-65 fps with 1 radeon HD 5770 and a Phenom II x4 965 Deneb BE at 4ghz......

  • 4 cards in SLI, 2 CPU with 24 threads.. and it gets so low fps..? Jees, I guess we better wait another 10 years and spend another couple of thousands before we can finally play crysis on highest without going under 60 fps.

  • @miikhailov the game uses about 1 1/2 cores. so basically it is cpu-bound and extremely slow compared to how it could play.

  • the power usage on these systems is rediculous. eventually they will devleop a graphics card that is very energy efficient. it wont be long before a new card is released that will beat sli

  • MADNESS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • try the brenchmark witch 3 ore 4 gtx590 ore hd6990 i wanna see the fps of this *-* :D

  • woooooooooooooowowowowowowowowow 60 fps :O in crysis very high settings :O

or my heart will give me an attack, is the nasa computer ?

  • Must be nice to have lotsa spending moneys. I'd be worried about the video cards being so close together, especially the 480's Doesn't seen like there's much room for air. Would be a great candidate for watercooling which ive seen a few times on an SR-2.

Have you noticed long bootup times on this board. It seems to be fairly common with the Sr-2. Not that bootup times mean anything really on a desktop or server. I just wanted to know what your experience was.

  • You laugh but my computer fried in october and the electric bill the next month was 100$ cheaper and I was running a 1KW watercooled Q6600 rig ;p

  • Tnx for the video but :

    3years old game + aprox.9000$ super PC + Super power bills = average 50fps

    Pricelessssss =))))))))))))))ahahaahahaha

joke : When you shutdown the pc the neighbours tnx to you, because they can power up there refrigerators ?

  • This is a fact that my opinion is ATI's power friendly

  • sli works better than crossfire but a single 5870 is cooler and don't need so much power so...^^

  • @necronlord40k yeah its pretty sick 400 watt diffrence

  • @reistje no... i the maximum which the gtx 480 is using is by about 300 watts and the hd 5870 220 i think but not 400w

  • @necronlord40k well thats still 4x80watt diffrence

  • @reistje oh you mean 4 hd 5870's...sry

  • AMAZING !

  • Crysis is retarded, I swear the developers put a piece of code in the game that doesn't allow you to get beyond a certain amount of FPS, maybe they have a deal with Nvidia, and AMD or something, or maybe it's in the driver software itself, but you should get like 300 fps.

  • i wonder if the black casing of the gpu ever melts on he 480...

  • Trubritar could you please reply?, ´these scores are not even near the 4 way 285 and with only 1 cpu how is that? and the 4 way 285 also had even more antialising could you pls tell me how this is possible thanks ? =)

  • @trubritar the SR-2 motherboard support two processor intel xeon, is it right?

  • would your graphics cards burn out because of how close they are?

  • Im suprised the frames werent higher with both of these.

  • @lookitcrashed It's Crysis, maybe in 10 years we will see a big increase in frame rate.

  • A 4 FPS average isnt worth the cost of a whole new card.

  • wow crysis has pretty shitty programming if it cant run well with all this... honestly, hardware and software has to go hand in hand for performance and this shows how pathetic crysis is programmed: All graphics no fps...

  • @Pucker7 It isn't really a great benchmark to compare raw fps to, as the higher the fps is, the faster the benchmark runs, forcing the machine to render more in a shorter space of time. Crysis warhead...now THAT has terrible optimisation. Atleast on my machine.

  • @Pucker7 exactly, Crysis is a piece of shit when it comes to coding, I wouldn't even use Crysis for benchmarking, you probably could have 1000 gpu's running, and 10 processors, and still only get about 70 fps, not that the hardware couldn't handle it, because obviously it can, but take Emulators for example....they need like 10 times the processing power because the PC is processing readable PC data and garbage data too, same thing with Crysis on PC, programming is not neat and tidy.

  • @1981z28camaro I hope they tidy it up a bit with crysis 2

  • @Pucker7 yeah, well apparently Crysis 2 is going to be optimized, but I'm not really looking forward to it, it looks too much like a console game.

  • @1981z28camaro

I know right, my 5970 gets fucking 30fps.......

  • @mezzadakiller yeah, it's pretty ridiculous.

  • cost of this comp??

  • when cards as powerful as high end ati5000 series coming out in a single slot format you could do a 7 way sli setup

  • why are the ATI cards doing so poorly?

  • @bdkaka nvidia drivers are much better than ati. at these levels it all comes down to software not hardware.

  • @Lonefaction360

That my have been true a few years ago but the "ATI Drivers are way behind" thing is no longer the case, NVIDIA's latest gen cards are on a hardware level, better. Thing is, they released them much later and they use a shitload more power (you can see this in the video), overall in terms of which company is able to innovate more and provide good balance (power and heat vs. performance) ATI wins the current gen graphics war IMO

  • @tormaid42 Dude if power and heat really are ticking you off about nvidia, your just way to picky, i7's run hot, does that mean phenoms all of a sudden are better because they are less power hungry and arnt heaters? no

  • This just goes to show you how flawed the CryEngine is/was, and how badly its programmed. These rigs can barely get over 60 frames, and look at the loads (wattage) its using. There are way better games out there than Crysis, people need to realize that. I'm hope the CryEngine 3 will be alot more forgiving for us people without supercomputers can run Crysis 2 on decent settings, (it probably will be if it will run on consoles at 30 to 60 frames).

  • @sigmapsicharlie Crytek said themselves that crysis 2 will look better on console than cyrsis very high settings on pc. AND crysis 2 requires half the gpu power that crysis needed. YAY for refinement of the cryengine!

  • @Lonefaction360 no what noooooooooooooooooo this is why i got pc no freakin way i got new i7 920 D0 for that game and more of course suck it

  • @skimowhite586 Crysis 2 on pc is supposed to look a lot better than crysis 2 on consoles. crysis 2 on console looks better that crysis very high on pc. Crazy shit isn't it?

  • @Lonefaction360 Yeah thats good, though i wasnt that much of a fan of crysis, I think they should have done a better job with FarCry 2, but it ended up being a turd IMO, FarCry 1 was awesome, I still play it on ocassion.

  • @sigmapsicharlie i'm a console gamer and i played far cry 2. it sucks. very repetitive. i will soon be a pc gamer this fall!

  • @Lonefaction360 I play on PC and console, i find mindself enjoying the experience of shooters, racers and adventure game (the force unleashed etc) more enjoyable on my 360, but I do play on the PC for AIon and Counterstrike. IMO I see the PC gaming going away eventually, because of services like OnLive and the shear cost of PC components and upgrade costs.

  • @sigmapsicharlie I personally think that consoles should have upgradable graphics cards. I enjoy gaming on my friends PC with an Xbox wired controller(I'm to used to the controller, even though mouse and keyboard is more accurate for shooters) and I love the mods you can apply to games.

  • @sigmapsicharlie consoles suck you cant ever use internet on 360 and ps3 net work sucks you cant to much no modding you spend as much money on the games of 360 that you can build a super computer wich offers and extreme more content modding per game but if you want a console why not theres always halo reach yeath that will be fun what are you going to do play multiplayer then campaign then play multiplayer then campaign then talk about game the play campaign the play multiplayer again wow borin

  • @skimowhite586 I have a PC for the internet, or I can use the 360 as a MEDIA Center and get internet through it that way. Plus, as much money as it costs to run games on a PC at decent frames with fairly decent settings, I'd rather have a console .for games and my PC is for work and music (of course I can use my 360 for that as well). I can't wait for GoW3 (gears), halo Reach is gonna rock. ive been playing Crackdown 2 its awesome too, oh yeah Forza 3 and MW2 are always gonna be there too.

  • when will games take advantage of 12 cores and 4 gpu's? holy willies

  • omg and i thought 4 cores were alot when i found out that my pc had a q6600 hiding in there

  • Nvidia is shit imo.

  • WHAT?! How is this possible? I get an average of 51.54 FPS with a single 5970, no overclock. I thought at least four 5870s would do a better job?

  • @Brygelsmack crysis and sli/crossfire dont get along lol hpefully they use it more for the 2nd

  • OMG 2 intel xeons per 6 cores

  • Will it blend? That is the question!

  • @TMNoob3 hahahah i'd kill to see that x)

  • All those processing threads....and Crysis can only utilize two of them!

  • Loving your music! I got a great sound system wired to my PC so it sounds.... absolutely phenomenal!

  • but can it play crysis 2?

  • @Killer101Noob

No, to play Crysis 2 you will need a mainframe :P

  • Hopefully you're not the one who has to pay the power bill haha..

  • Unbelievable. You have $2000.00 worth of Nvidia GPU, and yet you still can't run this game at 100 fps or more on max settings.

  • i would hope the 480s win they cost 500 compared to the 5870 is 400

  • nice music!

  • I love comparisons of software optimized for one brand only.

  • Incredible W usage O_o

I sense that in the near future we will need our own powerstation to run a pc =\

  • Hmmm, 24 cores. obviously thats practical

  • My result on same settings was 33.32fps with 2 GTX 285s and Q9650 @ 4.0GHZ.

  • on both cards that was some really bad scaling going on in crysis. with that much gpu power you should be easily in the 100fps avg mark at 1920x1200 i personally think if the game itself supported multiple gpu scaling properly.

  • While Nividia won both configurations did terrible. This really shows that anything over dual setups is pretty worthless

  • @KapteinFruit : So far there are lot's of people out there with the SR-2 Board, I know of at least 15 people who have them set up for Folding and benching only, there isn't anything exclusive or special about this board or setup

  • @trubritar Yeah, everyone can cough up in excess of $500...

  • @trubritar I wouldn't go as far and saying that there's nothing special about it. It sure is. But it's not limited. My friend, David, who I said also had this setup spent over $10,000 on it!

  • @trubritar trub, are there any boards similar to this coming out soon?

  • @trubritar

pls review EVGA SC gtx 460 T_T

  • Crysis is nvidia optimized so you have to take that into account

  • The new Nvidia drivers are KILLING ATI big time.

  • I have much-much! more! fps with 3 280 Overclocked and i 7 720 4.3 Ghz Go and Watch My Crysis Gameplay video... Trub Pleas make gameplay video for christ sake!

  • @club4ghz 920 cpu i mean sorry

  • very very interesting !!!! welldone for your rig.

  • Comment removed

  • this shitty game became playable 3years after its release, with 4 of the most powerful avaliable today.

  • you will need 3 power supplies and a nuclear reactor to run this!!!

  • Why the hell are you using all that hardware in a game that can't even use it? Crysis doesn't scale properly. Fail video.

  • These tests are filpping poinltess! The game cant use all those CPU threads and GPU's so why even try...

  • @ThinkingTechnology sooo your another brainless prick that has zero enthusiasm for computers.

  • nvidia win!!!!!

  • Right now I'm getting 60fps in Crysis Benchmark with all settings on very high@1920x1080 with my 3-Way Sli setup(gtx 480) and i7 920 D0@3.9GHz.

But I think his setup is more suited for multitasking and running very demanding programs...thats when the two processors will come in. For gaming, this rig really isn't that practical.

  • This is so unnecessary on so many levels. I am basking in the glory of my 1GB HD4650 right now...not sure about you guys.

  • @LauxHawk I have two 5970's. They're worth it. And they don't run hot and hog power like the 480.

  • @nexus1g Not trying to be mean, but that is stupid. I am running almost max on every game @ 1440x900

  • @LauxHawk 1440x900 is a low resolution so I'm not surprised. At least get a 120Hz monitor if you're going to run lower resolutions so you can utilize some of the power of that card.

If I play Bad Company 2 at 1680x1050 with 8x AA, I can average around 60 FPS.

  • @nexus1g 1680x1050 and 1440x900 are pretty similar. And again, do you think that everyone just has thousands of dollars to throw out for something 10% better?

The highest I'd ever consider for a card is around $200. Tops.

I am not trying to start a war. My initial comment was supposed to be more comical than mischievous but oh well.

  • @LauxHawk It shows you that more recent games like Bad Company 2 require a lot more than a $200 card to play on high settings.

I wasn't trying to start an argument either. But you said what I said was stupid. Anyway, they _are_ worth it. You figure a high-end computer is about $2,000 and the major bottle-neck in gaming is the video card, it makes sense to put as much money into that part as possible.

  • @LauxHawk Correction, I just double checked and it's 40 FPS with 8x AA on Atamaca.

  • No way should it take that much to run crysis maxed out.

  • iff crysis wuld support 24 cores it wuld run 1000 FPS!

  • Are you going to review the ASUS ARES Trub??

  • trubritar could you do a video that compares one 5870 to two then two to three then three to four? And the same but with other graphics cards like the GTX 480? I think it would be great information

  • ati got owned....but the wattage, my mum wuild say: bye, bye

nice vid, and absulutly phenomenal hardware....

  • that's a lot of watts.

  • @TheDevilOnHoliday My parents would shit brix if they saw like the energy bill be 1000 >:D

  • NVidia FTW :) Its what I run ! Still using 2 Evga GTX 285's !! (look :) )

Nice video man, I LOVE HD pc porn :D !!! Trub your the PC man.

  • Almost Willing to Bet that with ONE CPU and 3 Cards there wouldn't be a Difference! ...Only One Way to Know!...

  • i dont get it? 4 5870s get 29 fps average? but i get 39 fps on my single 5870 with the exact same settings. Something Wrong?

  • @moonshiry Maybe you have the older benchmark?

  • @MouthofSaurons nah i mean in game. hmm maybe its cuz of the different time of day? not sure

  • @moonshiry I'm going to assume you're using a different Resolution.

  • @GefGZ HO yeah totally.. im using 1920 by 1080 whoops missed that haha

  • I hope soon you will make a video of (2x Xeon X5680 + 2x ASUS ARES) = WOW!

  • @GolzeD2009 whats the difference? your going to get less performance due to less bandwidth (8 lanes per gpu as apposed to 16 in the video)

  • Have you got ASUS ARES for review/benchmarks yet ? we really want to see how powerful that card is in single card & Cross(Quad)Fire.

  • Trub when ur gonna OC the cards?!?!?!?

I mean cmon i want clash of the titans 6 to be overclocked water cooled 5870s and 480s.

  • 1500 Watt's seems to be were the line is drawn. I wonder if Ati will up the ante and utilize 1500 watt's on their next design (6000 series).

  • @captaincough I dont think they want to be power whores. Hopefully they keep the power usage down and up the performance

  • @Delus1on77 Yeah I think your right about that. I like to believe Nvidia went to 1500 watts when designing the Fermi only because they had to. If they didn't utilize 1500 watt's there cards would run cooler and slower and the consumers would dislike that even more.

  • did crysis use all the cores ?

  • hey trubritar we all love your hardware reviews but do you ever game?????

  • i love the sound you are using in your reviews ! good work man keep it up

  • lol is it possible 4 way hd 5970?

  • Well I expected better results...

I mean if some guys with Eyefinity with three screens can reach these FPS, what's going wrong with this killer-configuration with two (!) six(!)-cores?

Also: Why i isn't anyone doing a benchmark with 16xAA? I mean why isn't anyone trying to get EVERYTHING out of this game?

  • do a 3dmark 06 run and beat a world record with this baby ^^

  • 500w wasted on nvidia lol

  • @drewm201 if you have the monney for this ring, you do definitly not worry about 500w extra power....

  • @15Protech you should if your worried about the pollution of the world...

  • @manel0319 Here in Norway we are very Mindfull of this case, infact, all the power i use is generated by me and my Hydrogen farm, of which i fule my car and my house att times When there is little Wind and Sun... in other words 100% free of polution it is just a cycle of Water being splitt to Hydrogen and Oxygen, and then fused back together in the Hydrogen Cells i have in my car and in my basement ;)... althoug it was very expensive, i have made my contribution

  • @drewm201 You could run just 3x480's and still get higher FPS

  • Jesus trubitar, do a benchmark on Flight Simulator X, it needs a good processor, even with a 980x and a 480 you can only get 40 fps.

  • Dang what kind of cinebench scores does this thing get?

  • btw you should try metro 2033 as benchmark

  • The 4 way sli 285gtx is faster isnt it? I remember that got about the same fps with 16aa isnt it?

  • @LockeLeon But this rig has tesselation enabled. The 4way 285 rig did not.

  • @Durkadurka1995 - Crysis doesn't use tesselation, it's a DX10 game/benchmark.

  • @arvutihull ok, my bad :S

  • @arvutihull

DX9 game with added DX10 functionality.

  • @Durkadurka1995 Tesselation in crysis???

  • this is weird. i expected higher fps with 4 cards.

  • you turned physx off?

  • @sKyyyFir3

    Crysis does not use PhysX.

  • At 1:58 the powerneed of the nVIDIA-Config is 1337Watt. rofl

  • @TheRealDerohneNick I saw that, too ;) nice

  • Gameplay please Q.Q !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Trubritar, please run benchmarks when comparing ATi and nVidia graphics cards without AA next time, because AA looks and performs different on ATi and nVidia graphics cards. Also they use different types of AA, ATi uses MSAA and nVidia uses AA, so when comparing the looks 8xMSAA looks about the same as nVidia's 32xAA. If you don't believe me, go to your forum and ask mihapiha, he switched from three 5870's to two GTX 480's and can prove what I'm saying.

  • Crysis is coded to be better on nvidia hardware. Obviously they will win.

  • @crackeddoutt Ati Fanboy

  • For those of you who say this didn't meet your expectations. Maybe you should read again. This is 8XAA!!!!!!!!!!!

  • seems like nvidia is back on top... just a shame the cards cost a fucking shitload of cash lol.

  • @UnknownIncognito Not to mention they use 50% more power which in the long run is gonna cost you alot.

  • @UnknownIncognito ati hd radeon 5870 = $400... nvidia geforce gtx480 $520 (thats how much i got mine for) back in the day nvidia geforce 8800 ultra....$800 XD i feel slighlty dissapointed that i actually bought that card...to be honest, the gtx480 isn't THAT expensive...compared to the 5870

  • lol the wattage was 1337 at 1.57

  • what's the song from 0:14-1:46?

  • All this and the performance gain probably wouldn't be noticable over a system of half the money. This is insane just for youtube's sake and little else.

  • I actually expected better performance than this..

  • Nvidia's drivers are now really good that's why it won. Before, Ati's drivers where really good. But meh. The best won. ^^

  • You're gonna do warhead next.. right?

  • xeon or i7 which one should i get?

  • @yellowflash345 umm, there are different versions to xeon line...xeon processors are for servers and are meant to be stable, and consume less power. however they cost a lot more. the best xeons are the westmere 32nm ones...$390 for a xeon quad @2.4ghz and $560 for a xeon quad @ 2.53ghz XD then again 32 nm, the core i7 930 is the way to go though, even though it creates more heat, less expensive. 2.8ghz quad , 45nm for $290

  • OMG!!!! ATI is just soo lame!!!!

    NVIDIA FTW!

  • Comment removed

  • wow...the results suck big donkey ass lol. crysis is stil the king after 3 years and 20k worth of equipments lol

  • Can you guys run the Final Fantasy XIV benchmark? That thing is beastly.

  • anyway next benchs you can use evga precision to monitor gpu usage

seems like bunch of those cards not running near 100%

  • quite low looking fps...

  • dude, send some of that tech my way. I need a new graphics card.

  • ive been asking in the last few videos but can it play crysis...and now i know i need to get a $600 mobo...a couple 1000 on video cards...2000 for cpus...probably another 2000 for cooling...a 1000 on ram...and a 600 case. to play this game on the highest settings/

  • @Killer101Noob I think you can play it in highest settings with less thank $2k.

Still I don't know what difference would make to play an old game with more fps, maybe if it had multiplayer, but i rather check it out with new games.

  • Wow it takes 24 cores at 4.5 ghz and 4 GTX480's to crack the 60 fps (avg.) in the first Crysis.

  • @gor1l1a not necessarily, i have only a quad core and a 5770 and i get average frame rates of 50 fps and crysis only uses 2 cores of the cpu
