As far as I can tell, the U.S. had to take action. Inaction would have been far worse. And taking time to get approval from our dysfunctional Congress would have only ensured a massacre. I am not a big fan of U.S. military adventures abroad, but this seems like the most justified action taken by the American government in decades.
Think about it, what were the alternatives in this situation? Qaddafi is clearly a murderous lunatic. He publicly declared that he was going to purge the opposition and his forces surrounded a major city and prepared to kill all rebel elements. Would you have had U.S. forces sit passively off the coast while mass murder happened in Benghazi?

The rest of the world should just stand idly by while Gaddafi's mercenaries roll back into Benghazi and continue to massacre scores of civilians who have risen up against him? While it's one thing to take others resources (as with Iraq), its another when it comes to preventing a potential humanitarian crisis. I don't want Libya to turn into another Bosnia situation or another Uganda, when tyrants killed their own people. Gaddafi has to go!
I don't think anyone wants gaddafi in, and that is not the point of this protest. The point is that internal affairs must be fixed internally without the intervention of others like the US, otherwise Libya will become another Iraq or Afghanistan. Watch the video and understand first, then comment.
