anyone know if the gtx 580 fits in there? its 10 5/8 in long. But rodney said that it supports 10 1/2 or 12in, which is it? there is a difference between both of them. Any help someone?
Thanks for the advice! But you know.. I want to be future proof. :) And i think the next series from nvidia will be 12 inch or maybe 12.5(gtx 680?). And I want to know what is the maximum length of the vga that this case can fit.
@chisel954 hey bro do you mind if i ask a few questions???? i want to buy this case but i hear that cooling isn't that great but have no idea which fans would fit and be compatible...
Removable motherboard trays allow you to install the motherboard and other components like RAM and CPU without having to work in the confines of the case itself. You can even test for functionality while the tray is removed, so if there is a problem your components are even more accessible.
how about actually putting components inside the case before you call it good? you would find out that most SATA cables are not long enough to reach the motherboard. i mean i love this case, but i swear, all your videos have absolutely no computer parts put in the case. piece of crap cases get rave reviews here because you dont do anything but look at the case. dont call these videos reviews if all your gonna do is talk about what can be easily found on the case's website.
So what if it doesn't have a slot for a retention bracket...you can create a slot for that by removing the other side panel and using a dremel tool :-P
This guy doesn't actually try to put things in the cases he "reviews". He gave my NZXT Adamas case a Kickass rating. The case won't accept even the most common Seagate drives, like the ST3500320AS 500Gb drives, of which I have four. Don't listen to a thing he says.
@MegaDeathwarrant it has 7 slots, and e-atx boards use the standard atx standoff mountings but are slightly longer and wider than normal atx boards. im assuming your thinking of xl-atx boards that have 8-10 expansion slots and are much wider
who ever owns a rv01 in here can u guys tell me if u can put the top cover back even with the dvi and dp adapter is in place...im running eyefinity setup and i got those adapters...thanks
You obviously don't know what you are talking about. The obsidian is an absolute piece of crap for anyone that doesn't wan't to water cool their system. The cooling in that case is absolutely horrendous. Its a nice looking case, I'll give it that, but at the expense of cooling which is what a case should be good at. This case beats it by leaps and bounds in terms of air cooling. Hell, even the corsair 600 is much better than the 800.
The only problem I saw with the case is that it does not have a open area on the motherboard tray for the retention plate that you need to properly mount after market coolers. This will be a problem for those who want to overclock their CPU on air.
Other than that this is a really unique case that will awesome for most high end rigs
Rodney, get over the obsession with removal mb trays. With a properly designed and accessable case they have no purpose other than to introduce rattle and air leak points where dust comes in. If a mb test station is needed they can easily be made with a few dollars of material.
I couldn't do the I/O on top, and the cables being bent backward, to come out the back, especially, for my display, because I have a display that has a VGA cable, and it's rather thick.
@cbotten106 I agree, I have wanted this case since it came out. BUT, I want one that doesn't look like a stealth fighter or Darth Vader. I want it to have the more elegant understated design of the TJ07 or TJ10 and not the RV02 either. I mean an RV01 chassis without the plastic bodywork. Come on Silverstone, lets get it done!! The RV01 has been available for almost 2 years and still no availability of a more conservative styled version. The RV02 is inadequate for my needs.
@FSXman1000 What's wrong? It's the whole point of being a critic and reviewer. Removable trays make it so much easier with several tweakings and trouble shooting scenarios.
@FSXman1000 You mean "Why do most people"? Removable motherboard trays allow you to install the motherboard and other components like RAM and CPU without having to work in the confines of the case itself. You can even test for functionality while the tray is removed, so if there is a problem your components are even more accessible.
@FSXman1000 because having a removable mobo tray makes it easier to install your items duu. it didnt sound like he had an extreme gripe its just something that cost a decent amount should probably consist of that or tleast maybe a cpu black plate cutout.
@heynicetry where do you live, i bought one and had no idea how large it is, in fact to large for my small apartment. I would be willing to sell the RV01 for $150
@filiwian Cable management's a pain if you don't get it right the first time. Kinda tight in there as well, despite how big it looks. Airflow for the CPU's pretty good though, but there are better cases out there.
@gta4rulesass Helps to mount the retential plate for CPU coolers, and you can assemble most of the stuff before putting it in the case, it's also better for installing the spacers which I've had trouble with in the past.
@3DGAMEMAN do you know if the evga 4 way sli will fit in this case i know that it needs 10pci slots but how needs that much cn you put it in the cae and make it work like a 3 way sli motherboard??, in case it dos is there a big diference between the rv01 and the rv02?? o and the door , how much time does it last beforew it starts working weard???
