  • Mike got me again. Damnit.

  • I'm Austin Montgomery from Cardchronicle

  • This is one "physical" video. =p

  • Your vid is a favorite on Leste)Dili

  • Will never forget this game...watched it on TV D-Wash is a fellow Orlandoan and graduated my year in 2004...ran the state of Florida that year, I was hurt to see this shit tho, had he stayed atleast 3 years he'd be an NBA all-star smh...

  • I played against him in High School and most recently in the Orlando Pro-Am tourney. Off the court, he's a cool cat and his play overseas has matured his game a lot. But when we were in school, I couldn't STAND his fuckin ass!! He was such a cocky, arrogant, conceited jerk. Always respected his game. But he didn't have any "humble" in him whatsoever. When I watched this game, it felt kinda good to see him finally fuck up. But I felt bad afterwards cuz he's a good dude overall.

  • I don't even really like Memphis even though I live here, but u never want to see that happen he was on the floor crying come on guys have a heart.

  • @TheLaw280 ikr. Never anyone puts themselves in someone else's shoes

  • I would have felt sorry for him had he not been an ass all game not to mention, all season. Darius Washington is a thug not unlike most of your star, World Wide Wes recruits were. Too bad your corrupt coach found a home in Cor-Rupt Arena. The only program out there lower than Memphis. (You'll always be Memphis State and that's the worst insult that can be thrown to a team.)

  • I've been BrickRoll'd

  • RUTHERFORD!!!!!

  • Thumbs up if you got here from Card Chronicle.

  • Go Tigers I Bleed Blue we going to give UofL a real beaten come the 17th

  • @1kingzeus just like you did to Murray State

  • @1kingzeus hahahaha good call, hope you were one of the fans that had a 7 hour drive back to Mempiss after we kicked you thugs out of the yum yesterday. btw, your coach is a little girl.

  • Memphis STATE. When I think of them, I think of low, selfish, and classless players and coaches. Including, but not limited to, Dana Kirk, Keith Lee, John Calipari, & Darius Washington. With zero national titles & both Final Four appearances vacated, Memphis STATE sounds like a doormat rather than a power. UofL > Memphis STATE...forever

  • @cardsnation502 Classless players and coaches? Didn't your coach just have a scandal for having an affair at a restaurant with some woman who he tried to get a abortion? While yes, it was a extortion attempt, isn't it still true....

  • @cardsnation502 Um it's University of Memphis now. Keep up with the times

  • @rbh9802 To fans of Cardinal basketball, you all will forever be known as Memphis State. Can't wait to wax that ass again next year in FedEx Forum. 95-87. GO CARDS

  • Haha. Some of you take things to seriously. Glad this rivalry is finally getting renewed! Go Tigers Go!

  • Couldn't happen to a nicer guy or nicer team. Memphis STATE is still low-class and will never be in a big-time league.

  • haha memphis fan here. enjoying reading the heated convo below. old rivalries reignited!

  • Washington had this coming to him. The little fucker was running his mouth to Palacios, Dean & Garcia all game and kept sticking that goddamn tongue out like he was Michael Jordan. I laughed my ass off when he missed the free throws & started crying on the court. Fuck Memphis, you all will never be what Louisville basketball is. GO CARDS

  • @cardsnation502 Fuck loserville too. The NCAA are hypocrites they originally passed a ineligible player and then lied so it's vacated. Anyway, we went to 2 Elite Eights before 2008 playing Kansas for the Title. Have you played in at least an Elite Eight since 2006? No. You have a lot of problems with Will Barton, Adonis Thomas, and Joe Jackson. I admit we did lose. You won't admit when you lose to us. We are ready for you

  • @21sttnmemphis We actually went to the Elite Eight in 2008 and lost to UNC & 2009 as the number one overall seed dumbass hahahaha. & blame the NCAA? You sound like a UK fan. How about the fact that you all had a scumbag for a coach? That sound logical? You all won't be able to keep up with our defense. Number one in the country in defensive efficiency. Y'all lost to Michigan, who blows, Georgetwon, who we beat every year, and Murray State. Y'all suck big dick, we're gonna beat that ass Saturday.

  • @21sttnmemphis & Loserville? That's cute. Mempiss.

  • Oh u of loserville will be undeated? Hell no What have you done the last 5 yrs? Nothing. We have been waiting for the day to get you back now that Calipari is gone. I have no say who Calipari wants to play. Now we have a new coach and he knows we want to play you again. I want to see the u of loserville bitches try to stop Will Barton. He will drive by so many times past you that he will on the top plays on ESPN. We'll see on Saturday

  • @21sttnmemphis mr. memphis state guy, you're ignorant. Stop talking.

  • @21sttnmemphis The better question is, what has Memphis done in the past 5 years? I'll give you that y'all did go the national title game against Kansas, who won that game by the way? Oh wait, that season was vacated thanks to Calipari. So, in all technicality, that season never happened. So actually y'all haven't done jack shit. We're undefeated & #4 in the nation. Y'all can't stop Siva, Kuric, Behanan & Dieng. Fuck Memphis, y'all are about to get ran on Saturday. Explain the loss to Murray..

  • YES! Cry for me Darius! That kid was the biggest s*&t talker I can ever remember. He pounded his chest& barked at Louisville players after every point his team made in that game. He was talking junk to everyone, even the UofL bench. He flexed more than Terrence Jones in that game. Under any other set of circumstances I would have felt bad for the kid in his moment of agony. Not you Darius, I still LMAO every time I see this video because no player ever deserved a moment like that more than him.

  • Can't wait to this Saturday because lousiville will lose. Go Tigers Go

  • @21sttnmemphis No they won't, couldn't meat Murray State at home, won't beat Louisville on the road. Memphis has played one road game against Miami, what were there? Like 3, 400 people there? You're coming into a hostile environment and you WILL take your medicine and like it

  • He walked.... he took like 5 steps

  • Even back then, Memphis sucked at free throws.

  • The worst thing about this is that it was the highlight of his career he was never able to grow past this. Sad even though I'm a Louisville fan

  • A little perspective here in defense of criticism on the kid. I can't speak for him off the court, but Washington was as cocky a player as I've seen in some time. DeMarcus Cousins-esque arrogance. It's for that reason alone that Louisville fans, even to this day, don't really feel for the kid.

Hoops has a way of humbling you sometimes.

  • Cousins was far from arrogant, not sure how you could even descibe him that way. If anybody was arrogant it was Wall, and he wasn't arrogant either. Your disdain for Kentucky has led you to believe that. @jwbail02

  • Probably the most heartbreaking C-USA Championship next to the past one...I'm a UTEP fan and ....that shit hurt

  • @kingofthe915 but this is more heartbreaking

  • choke of the year smh!!!

  • this brings back memories of when conference USA was amazing at basketball. Being a HUGE louisville fan when this happened all i did was laugh at washington and i made fun of him at school (when i was in 5th grade) but now i do feel a little sorry for the kid

  • Awwwwww. Poor baby

  • i live in memphis and i remember watchin this live. i felt like crying too

  • I remember my grade 6 city championship like yesterday. Stole the ball ran all the way down the floor..got fouled on the layup. 2 shot with 0.2 seconds left. I missed both of them then cried hahah so I know how this guy feels. It's heartbreaking.

  • dddddaaaaaaaaanggggggg ... feeling mixed ... like cake batter ...

  • yea i remember way back when watching this live. i felt so bad for that kid. .... but thats life

  • Comment removed

  • @tcb8787 No it wasn't. This prevented Memphis from making the NCAA Tournament. Louisville was not in the Big East then.

  • @tcb8787 Why do you think it says C-USA all over the court?

  • This is the only time I have ever felt sorry for any team coached by John Calipari.

  • That moment was like porn for the U of L fans out there.

  • He was a freshman at the time. Most of yall are sitting here talking about hes a cry baby. How would yall feel if Yall missed Free Throws like that in a Clutch situation to send your team to the NCAA Tournament. All of us sit here making fun of these kids when we don't know the feeling to be in that situation.

  • 6 years ago today, and I'm still LMAO. Cry baby Washington. Enjoy Calipari UK, because his teams always choke on the fat one when games matter.

  • @duvallia dude honestly you're a huge pussy and i hope you get superaids and die alone while your exwife comes into your hopsital room and fucks your doctor in front of you

  • @duvallia grow up, id like 2 see how your bitch ass reacts in a situation like this. o nevermind, your not good enough to play

  • The majority of Kentuckys black population is in Louisville.

  • I hate Calipari, but that kid deserved to make those ft's...

  • Louisville fans aren't rednecks were half black. Other half are regular whites. Shoot 45% of Louisville is black

  • @YungJboogs4 try 20%.

  • @YungJboogs4

Louisville is hardly 45% black. Jefferson County is maybe 19% black.

  • Louisville fans better not bring their asses back to FedEx Forum or I will kick the shit outta them..my co-workers went through hell with those rednecks..fuk outta my face

  • @steven2be2003 That's a rather ignorant thing to say considering the people of Louisville have far much for class than most Memphians do.

  • Oh, what joy to see that again! One of the top moments in Louisville Cardinal basketball! I love it.

  • pumpin his chest before he even shoots smh...

  • This game messed me up for days.

  • this video pleases me greatly

  • darius washington... jeremy hunt.. carney... that was a damn good team, they deserved better

  • i remember this like it was yesterday... sad day in memphis history. Hope D-Wash is doing good these days....

  • Damn I remember this game. I felt sorry for dude I know thats gotta hurt. This is when Memphis started coming up in basketball. John Calipari was on the come back.

  • Comment removed

  • I like that Washington said "I got this" or something like that after the first one. Gotta love that confidence. Too bad he couldn't come through. And CBS's music is so good!

  • ....I didn't know Kanye West played for Memphis....Just kidding, kind of.

  • pretty sad that this was the highlight of his career

  • these were the good ol days back when C-USA was a strong basketball conference. Louisville was good every year, but we will get back there. I still don't get why the big east didnt take memphis since they had a good basketball team and a pretty good football team but instead the big east took Depaul which hasnt done shit since they joined

  • imma die hard card.....ahhhhhhhh i remember thea good ol days when louisville was strong year in and year out

Go CARDS BEAT BUTLER 11/16/10 IT'S ON!!!

  • I wish the C-USA still had Louisville, Cincinnati, and Marquette. Damn you, BIG EAST.

  • Very Interesting

  • i dont see how memphis didnt get an invite to join the big east their football was decent and always had a good basketball team usually finished 2nd in the c-usa behind louisville.. we need more football teams bcs is gonna take away big east automatic bid if we dont get some football teams we have 7 when other confrences have 10-14 football teams

  • @derbycityboi502 I agree. Would much rather have Memphis in the Big East then say Rutgers or Seton Hall. I know they've been there for awhile, but Memphis would be very competitive in basketball and the recruiting for football would get much better by being in a BCS conference. And you are right, the Big East needs more football teams to stay competitive from a BCS standpoint anyways. Plus, it would revive the UL-Memphis rivalry.

  • this makes me happy.

  • Aww, back when Conference USA was good.lol

  • @IAmJack99 C-USA basketball is still good and one of the most and best competitive leagues in the ncaa.

  • @kingofthe915 funniest thing ive heard all week

  • @dynasty0807 it is real competitive and probably the most competitive in league play next to ACC Big East and Big 12.

  • @IAmJack99

It never got the respect it deserved. Louisville, Cincy, Marquette, Memphis State, Charlotte put together some good teams back then, Houston.

  • It's these type of moments that define your carreer. Dwight Howard & Josh Smith described him as a selfish player at ABCD Allstar on ESPN. He also bragged that Telfair was overrated (partly true at the time) and that he was nothing compared to him. All this before he even went to college. He's explosive but wreckless and not composed. Didnt hear much about him after HS till this play, so am I suprised?

  • nothing surprise, this is Cal team, they don't practice free throw during practice, they only practice how to dunk.....

  • Louisville got so many calls that game, memphis shoulda won by at least 5. poor d-wash thats a lot of pressure, d-wash did make it to the elite 8 the next year though

    go tigers!

  • daaammmnnn.. I almost cried watchin this video.. That had to hurt

  • that is painful

  • @snarekid237 not painful as the national champion game! missing 4 out of 5 FT!!!!!

  • I was rooting against Memphis...but in no way would I wish that kind of ending on any player of any team... DAT SHIT HURTS!

  • I remember this vividly... felt bad for the kid

  • Tsk tsk tsk... Instead of practicing a dunk contest in practice, always shoot your free throws kids. This moment is proof of that rule.

  • @JokersRWildStudios You should learn to know what you're talking about. Darius Washington wouldn't be practicing like he was in a dunk contest, he would make 300 free throws before he left the gym... at the age of 11. This is a kid that was brought up knowing the importance of putting the ball in the basket, no matter the situation. You win some, you lose some. He lost this one and to this day is still feeling the effects of what happened. I recommend you read an article of the aftermath...

  • @toms551 Well obviously he didn't practice enough. I was making a joke to begin with. Washington was also stupid for declaring early for the draft.

  • i remember this :-X

  • 2:16 that hurts...nuff said.

  • played telfair in high schol

  • travel on the shot anyways

  • damn...i counted 5 steps before the shot...

  • your allowed to try to stop your feet if your in motion..... but no big steps

  • look on the bright side.. HE MADE IT TO THE NBA!... im happy for him

  • and after this win, louisville was a four seed in the bracket. How does the #4 ranked team only get a four seed,???

  • At the time Louisville was in C-USA and it was considered a second tier conference since it was a non-BCS basketball conference per se. Never mind that Marquette, Louisville, Cincinnati, and Memphis were very visible in the national scene. If they had done that in '05 as a member of the Big East, they definitely would have been a #1 seed.

  • I remember that it was their last year but still #4 in the country and winner of even the CUSA tourny should translate to something better than a four seed

  • I agree though, Louisville should've been higher than a #4 seed, I mean they made it to the Final Four that year!

  • They beat the shite out of Washington who was the #1 out of the PAC 10. In fact the closest game they played in the tournament prior to the Final Four was in the first round.

  • pittsnogle has something to say about that. I remember the ragin cajuns giving UL a game but I do believe it took ot for the cards to beat wvu

  • yea that pissed me off. we were number 4 in the country, with only 4 losses, we WON our tourney and we only got a 4 seed??? the NCAA keeps giving Louisville bad deals in everything

  • well it really didnt matter the 1 seed on their side was washington, who i thought was highly overrated. their toughest game was against ga tech. wvu gave them a run but ul was a much better team and wvu started to play keep away instead of doing what got them the lead. really things couldnt have worked out better for louisville as far as the selection goes

  • it's funny to think about that louisville is not even in conf. usa anymore

  • I felt for this kid after this.I went to school with his dad at LeMoyne-Owen,and I can still remember him telling me how he wanted his son to be the best.

  • NO PRESSURE

  • i live in memphis and i remember watchin this live. i was so pissed off. but i felt sorry for d-wash

  • LMFAO!

  • darius washington went to my highschool. he was amazing in highschool.

  • 2:51

he says something right before he shoots.....anyone read lips?

  • looks like he said "ITS OFF!"

  • That was a horseshit call anyway. By the way, Washington was a punk ass bitch!!

  • loser :(

  • he walked before he shot, just like patrick sparks did in the same situation against louisville

  • Another example of Rick Pitino owing John Calipari...get used to it, it won't change.

  • Memphis beat Louisville 85-68 that year in the regular season at Freedom Hall. Also a John Cal coached UMASS team defeated a Pitino coached UK team in 1996 in the regular season.

  • Yeah....but in the same season, Kentucky (Pitino) beat UMass (Calipari) in the Final Four.

  • you are right....which lead to our 6th NC!!!!!! GO CATS!!!

  • @ukspeake12 Cals team always missing clutch freethrows.............just saying......watch out in the 2nd round this year

  • we played them twice in the regular season and one time they blew us out n one time we beat them so this was the tiebreaker

  • @nWo24life Marquiss Teague doesn't agree with that at all.

  • Aw dude I almost want to cry for that kid. That sucks so much. I would probably cry and refuse to leave the field.

  • Typical redneck louisville fan....classy.

  • haha screw you memphis ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!!!!!!!!

  • that was heartbreaking

  • Comment removed

  • that sucks and i feel bad for the guy, but if you watch he walked as he pulled up for the shot

  • yeah I noticed that too.

  • amk washington

    welcome to Galatasaray

  • he plays now in Macedonia he is good here:D:D

  • d.wash should hav stayed his ass in college dats y he didn't get drafted

  • i remember this they needed the conference championship to get a bid to the tourney because they were off the bubble , so it was a lot on his shoulders at that particular moment

  • memphis missing clutch free throws, hmm.... thats a first.

  • ahaha memphis sucks at free throw horribly but louisville aint no better we sucked all year with freethrows imma love playin calipari again so i can see his tears fall as we keep beatin kentucks ass

  • this was a good game. all that good talent at memphis with calipari and they could not beat the cards.....i expect the same from uk....better keep yalls nose clean. go cards.

  • what we have come to expect from memphis over the years, can never seal the deal in the big games!!! GO CARDS BABY!!!!! Second rate conferences for second rate programs!!!! Have a fun probation run suckas!!!

  • im a louisville fan but i felt so bad for him,,

  • i feel so bad for this kid

  • Comment removed

  • So, what is the Calipari Curse?

    Missed free throws.

When the game is on the line, when the heat is turned up, you can count on any team Calipari is coaching to miss free throws.

    Beware the missed free throws...

  • well im not denying what you say. Im just saying calipari is going to better the program than where it is right now. If you haven't noticed patino teams aren't known for there free throwing abilities.

But it is a known fact that free throws wins game.....apparently.

  • Really painful to watch. But out of the ashes of this game...

  • he is a really good player .however, sometimes he just forget to think...

  • i remember watching this game on the couch my dad so angry!

  • hahaha love it!!!!

  • luv it hahahaha

  • Beware the missed free throws...

  • Louisville became part of C-USA in 1995 with the merging of the Metro and Great Midwest conferences. They (Louisville) left C-USA for the Big East in 2005. As was the case in the Metro, Memphis was one of Louisville's biggest rivals in C-USA. I think Memphis should have at least been invited to the Big East. They got snubbed.

  • memphis could have came they just wanted to stay in c usa and dominate since all the competition was going 2 the big Beast

  • Poor guy, I remember when this happened. Even if you were the opponent, you never want to win a game that way.

  • Just Like 2008!

  • Really? They have only been in the big east for 3 years! This was a big rivalry back when they were both in CUSA

  • Tough to watch. That's a lot of pressure for a freshman.

  • I had to watch this in anticipation of the New Calipari vs. Pitino rivalry.

  • haha... me too..

that's exactly why I looked this up

  • He got fouled, but took four steps before shooting. Either way..couldnt hit the shots that were the most important.

Should be fun Pitino vs Cal again..

  • So would you say that this game should've been over, and that he shouldn't been shooting free throws to begin with, because he traveled. I mean even though he missed the free throws in the end, had they went in, that would've been an illigimate win for Memphis don't you agree.

  • of course I agree. But karma served its purpose that day for sure..

  • go cards ")

  • It was a sad day for Tigers ball. But the media comparing that to Dallas Cowboys' Jackie Smith dropping a simple touchdown pass for the lead in the Super Bowl is stupid.

  • And they failed again in 2008 I really feel sorry for this team even though im a Kansas fan

  • no matter how bad a day i'm having, i can always watch this and immediately have a good day.
