I can't help but suspect that the writers of "Lost" were heavily influenced by this serial, especially with the concept of the monster / antagonist as an eerily whispering cloud of malevolent darkness. The original is the best, though, and Joanna Lumley's cold, harsh, but unemotional performance as the possessed Sapphire is much more chillingly inhuman than anything the later series had to offer.
from the comments on here, there was a whole generation of kids who had the crap scared out of them from this show. I was one of them and I'm thoroughly enjoying watching them again. Thanks Dalek, you're a star
Still stands up well today, frightened the crap out of me the first time round. One of the most unique TV shows ever made, sadly Central decided to drop the show when they took over the ATV franchise in 1981. Terrific performances from both Lumley & McCallum. Glad I've now got the entire series on DVD. This is definitely the series highlight.
you wouldn't happen to have the invisible man series that david mccallum was in, would you?
