  • His superintendent says the opposite. Mmmm...someone is not telling the truth.

    Walker or the superintendent?

  • His Superintendent Greg Gerlach says the opposite. Someone is lying. Mmmm? who might that be? Walker or Gerlach.

  • I'm sorry for all the negative comments you must be receiving. It must be very lonely being the one person in the state who has not been negatively impacted by Walker. I know that I have lost 32 human rights under his administration. How lucky you must feel to have escaped that!

I hope you will understand when the rest of us work to get him out of office to help end the very real pain that he has inflicted upon us. Never before have I been embarrassed to be a Wisconsinite--until Walker.

  • I'm okay with the payment for pensions, but Jeff, I am sorry about your misinformation. Taking money away from something never allows you to do MORE. 2 minus 1 does not equal five. That's just a fact. 500 Million in education cuts. 500 Million in tax-breaks and benefits for corporations. I don't think that is right.

  • well lets see, we don't need scool busses!! rural parents can drive there students to and from school every day. carpool to sporting events, not to mention field trips. this would free up plenty of cash.

I grew up riding the bus to school every day, so before you reply no I don't think this a solution but it is the single minded laser cutting tax savings that is hard to take, why didn't Walker suggest EVERY state employee take a 10% pay cut, everyone top down would take a little sting.

  • Guess what moron, on January 1st is when all the big changes will take place, they haven't happened yet, you are so delusional

  • @matt8205 I'm guessing you don't know what you're talking about, but I can't tell what you're talking about, or who you are calling a moron. What big changes are happening January 1st, and what is your source?

  • @ge556 So you don't think that when the unions are gone some at will employees will be fired to make up for budget short falls and make bigger class sizes? Or pay cuts etc... Who needs a source its common sense stuff, we all know whats going to happen, more people will be out of work

  • Jeff teaches 4th graders, but is dumber than a 4th grader.

  • @robertmike57 Darn right!

  • IIRC: Funny how this guy had his superintendent call him out saying that there were indeed layoffs, and now I don't see this ad on TV anymore.

  • Read the executive summary (page 2) of this

    dpi.wi.gov/eis/pdf/wasdasurveyresults_nov11.pdf

  • Thank you BlandTermite. That's an illuminating comparison.

  • Here's a perfect example of Walker's cognitive dissonance. Compare the executive summary (page 2) of the WASDA Survey with Walker's press release:

    media.jsonline.com/documents/DPIbudgetmemo.pdf

    walker.wi.gov/journal_media_detail.asp?prid=6084&locid=177

    This isn't an honest man.

  • Remember that we were asked to make a "shared sacrifice". State employees see 10-12% reduction in take home pay. People in Ozaukee county saw their property taxes go down a couple of hundred bucks.

  • The UW accounts for 7% of the state budget yet is being asked to account for 38% of the post budget-passing lapse on top of its 250 million reductions imposed by ACT10. Resulting tuition increases will just be another tax on young Wisconsinites.

  • A 4 million dollar forgivable loan for a company that declared bankruptcy in 2009? Is that kind of sound investment state money should be used for?

  • yandirtty21, where are you getting all this misinformation? Do you just make this stuff up, or what?

  • hey this dude is my teacher

  • Watch Waiting for Superman documentary and you'll understand that the Teacher's Unions have to be destroyed. For the Children. For the Teachers. For the Public.

  • Scott walker is the best governor that Wisconsin had ever had

  • @yandirtty21 Your best governor is damaging our public schools and our great university system.

  • @ge556 Who is feeding you these lies? I bet you can't give one reason how he's damaging the system.

  • @yandirtty21 Cutting funding. Even though funding to the UW comes back multiple times in benefits to Wisconsin.

  • @ge556 Did you know that only 10% of education funding goes towards the student. The other 90% goes towards teachers, janitors, merchandise, and establishments. He is cutting funding from the 90% so the state can save money. The government shouldn't be giving money to universities, period. They are their own private educational business. In case you unaware, the government has no authority over the universities. We shouldn't be giving them a dime. All of the subsides go to the professors anyway.

  • @yandirtty21 "Did you know that only 10% of education funding goes towards the student. The other 90% goes towards teachers, janitors, merchandise, and establishments."

    ===

Very strange statement. What do you mean, that they give the 10% to the students?

I would hope that most of the money goes to teachers, with some to those other things. What else would they spend it on?

It is bad for Wisconsin to damage our schools as Walker has done. Next year it will be much worse.

  • @ge556 10% as in, going towards the students so they may learn better. Such as tools students can access to learn better. The students are funded by 10% of the budget. Walker isn't cutting the students, he's cutting the teachers. When education funding was slowly increased over the past decade, statewide GPAs haven't. Taking away money from the budget also won't affect GPAs.

  • @yandirtty21 What are you talking about? You think teachers are not the ones that teach the students, but that there are some mysterious "tools" that make the difference? Wow. I think you've been drinking the Walker "tools"/"options" Kool-Aid.

As for funding increases, the school budgets have been squeezed for years due to the "QEO" law. They've had to cut and cut, over and over. And now, under Walker, they've taken an even bigger hit, and next year's going to be worse.

  • @ge556 OK, you are a douche that doesn't belong in this comment feed. I don't know what "tools" are purchased with a the budget. Do I look like a politician to you? You think I can go and explain every detail. All I know is that about $8000 is spent on a student every year. That goes towards the student to learn well. If you lived in La Crosse county you would know that there is a referendum proposed every few years for an increase in the education budget, yet GPAs haven't increased at all.

  • @yandirtty21 I found this one:

    Oct 31, 2008 7:35 PM CDT

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) Seven months after La Crosse school district voters turned down a $35 million building referendum by just 273 votes, they are being asked to consider a scaled-back version. The money is needed to upgrade heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. It would also provide new safety and security features.

    ===

Did you expect it to raise GPAs?

  • Here's another:

    Nov 07, 2011 6:07 PM CST

ARCADIA, Wisconsin (WXOW)- Voters in Arcadia will decide on November 8th whether a new elementary and middle school will be constructed. The proposed school would replace the current building, erected in 1914, and still using some of the original heating and air moving technology.

    ==

I wouldn't expect it to increase GPAs.

  • @ge556 That was the 2008 referendum. This year they passed a new referendum. It just so happens that every other referendum gets passed. They introduce a referendum every two to three years. That's an increase in education funding every 4-6 years in La Crosse County. As for the proposal in Arcadia, a new school will not make the students any smarter. I suggest you stop trolling.

  • @yandirtty21 Trolling? I'm talking about facts, and you seemed to be making things up.

  • @yandirtty21 Walker used the term "tools" as a euphemism for taking money from teachers.

  • @yandirtty21 I found this:

The La Crosse School District is located in La Crosse, WI and includes 20 schools that serve 7,104 students in grades PK through 12.

The La Crosse School District spends $12,562 per pupil in current expenditures. The district spends 61% on instruction, 34% on support services, and 5% on other elementary and secondary expenditures.

    ====

$8000 is 64% of that. That's close to the 61% that's spent on instruction, which would be mostly teacher pay.

  • @ge556 I think you're brain dead

  • @2999matt Is it because I know what I'm talking about, or because I use actual evidence?

  • @ge556 You don't understand. I actually live here, so I know what goes on. I'm here to educate you, not the other way around. I'm not apart of the La Crosse school district, I'm apart of the Onalaska School District. My mother also teaches in my school district. You are forgetting the main point. If you look at the education budget as a whole in my county, it has only increased over the decade, yet the average GPA has not. It only makes sense to cut the budget. Enough with the scare tactics.

  • @yandirtty21 How can it possibly make sense to cut the budget even more? Remember, Walker just cut it. That will increase class sizes even more, and probably eliminate some options in sports, art, music, etc.

What does your mother think about this?

  • @ge556 Did you not watch the ad? Walker has hired more teachers to the class sizes would be manageable while cutting waste out of the education budget.

  • @yandirtty21 I think you'd better watch the ad. It says no such thing. It says hundreds of teachers still have their jobs.

In fact, there were layoffs, but not as many as Walker claims there "would have been", i.e., if the budget had been even worse. It's a deceptive argument--no one but Walker was proposing that "even worse" budget that Walker supposedly saved us from.

There were some new hires, to replace retiring teachers, but there are fewer teachers now than last year.

  • That's funny, his Superintendent said exactly the opposite. youtube.com/watch?v=F_OQDPtU0Jk&feature=player_embedded

As did the superintendent from River Valley School District. youtube.com/watch?v=IbqdJqxe_Mw&feature=related

  • keep in mind his job growth plans are limited by the feds.

  • Walker is the best governor and you liberals who deny it are just ignorant.

  • @brewerboy73 Damaging our schools is one of the worst things a governor can do.

  • @ge556 Walker has done nothing that has damaged schools. He made small cuts to funding of teachers retirement funds. Teachers are still doing well and the state is better because of this. You clearly take in too much liberal bias. Please stop it and educate yourself.

  • @brewerboy73 Walker has made big cuts to school aid. He has reduced the ability of schools to fund themselves. He has cut teachers' paychecks and morale. Next year, when the second round of cuts hits, and the federal stimulus funds are gone, the schools will be in a world of hurt. Looks like you're the one who needs to educate yourself.

It was wrong to balance the budget on the backs of a few, instead of sharing the burden.

  • The only way his job was saved. Retirement, look up how many state employees left this year alone. Hundreds of poeple just like him, left their jobs.

  • Damaging Wisconsin's schools hurts all of Wisconsin. Next year, when the second round of cuts hits, and the federal stimulus funds are gone, our schools are going to be in a world of hurt.

  • Wow. The pro-Walker people are really spewing lies here.

  • Another paid liar for adolf walker.

  • Walker CHOSE to balance the budget on the backs of teachers, nurses, and other public employees. He could have shared the burden fairly, but he catered to the selfish "stick it to the teachers" crowd.

  • @ge556 If doyle and the dems would have balanced their budget without gimmicks and robbing funds there would not have been a need for a 'repair' bill. You are believing union spewed talking points........ why don't you go revisit the 2009 budget and all the layoffs even with Federal Stimulus funds... Act 10 created far less public sector layoffs then ANY budget in WI.

  • @Roooskee You echoed the Walker talking points, instead of responding to my points.

  • @ge556 All of WI benefited from the Repair Bill....... you are just to blinded by union talking points to see it..............

  • i couldn't stop laughing the whole flippin time! SCREW WALKER! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • Governor Walkers Act 10 saved many jobs. Guess you wanted Statewide lay-offs like previous years. Because that's how doyle / dems/ and the unions have done it for years.

BTW this was the Repair Bill which was needed to fix the last budget that doyle/dems did.... because they used gimmicks, robbed funds and left it in a deficit...

Next year will be Governor Walkers budget.

  • @Roooskee No Democrat in history could balance a $100 checking account. God Bless Scott Walker for standing up to stupidity. Our School is planning a expansion and and smaller class sizes since his budget. You recall people better see whats happening now , if the libs reverse all the good things he has done , well all the normal people might be upset but not squat and ruin our nice capital building, we have more respect than that

  • @todnwen - Wrong. Again.

Walker is the worst governor Wisconsin has ever seen. Even Tommy Thompson won't chum up to adolf walker.

  • @todnwen I am not one of the recall wackos that wants to cost millions of taxpayer funds for their childish tantrums because they lost the elections in 2010 ....... I am PRO-WALKER

    TGFSW!!!!

  • @Roooskee Do you support the Republicans who run fake democrats and cost taxpayer money solely for political gains?

  • @ge556 Yes I do......... Why not?

  • @todnwen Our nation's budget deficit MUSHROOMED under your idol Ronald Reagan. And no, don't bother claiming it was those bad ol' Democrats in Congress who did it. Defense spending skyrocketed under Reagan, which contributed to the deficit. Don't waste your time.

Thanks to reduced spending practices by Democratic-controlled legislatures, the budget under Doyle was kept in check his last few years. Walker claimed the budget was a mess, but had ZERO PROOF to back it up.

  • @pk26pk26 History lesson for you. We were in a nuclear arms race with the Soviets. We were mass producing warheads and preparing for any nuclear attacks. It is a good thing that the president actually protected us, unlike Carter. Doyle had a massive deficit in the state budget. Why do you think he raised taxes by $2 billion in 2010? He ran the state into the ground. If Doyle was such a good governor, then Barrett would've been elected against Walker. Do your fucking homework before you comment

  • @yandirtty21 oh you are COMPLETELY WRONG, pal! The Soviets didn't threaten us.....we threatened the Soviets. We bankrupted our budget all because John Birch-types were speading lies and paranoia, when diplomacy would have not only given us more security, it would have been much cheaper too.

And if you had half a brain you'd know raising taxes is smart budgeting. Wisconsin was already known for undertaxing big business. Look at how Illinois finally got smart and did the right thing.

  • @pk26pk26 You are a jackass. The Soviets threatened us when the started mass producing nukes. They were not our friends. They were a threat. We tried diplomacy, they were compulsive liars, they never were honest with us. We didn't bankrupt our budget, despite the high defense spending. History shows that when you raise taxes the economy does far worse. Look at Illinois?!? That is the most fucked up state in the country! You don't know US history at all. You are a misinformed piece of shit.

  • @yandirtty21 I would ordinarily ignore your incredible idiocy, but I take umbrage at your insults towards Russian people. Have you ever been to Russia? Remember Gary Powers? Now, which side lied? And yes, the Soviet Union WAS a democracy, yet we threatened them because we didn't like the way they govern themselves. Much like today with Iraq and Libya. Show this "history" you claim that increasing taxes hurt the economy. You claim I don't know US history. Well, do YOU? Remember the New Deal?

  • @pk26pk26 If you were president at the time you would have understood that an unfriendly country with nuclear bombs is a threat. I didn't support the invasion of Libya. I show you the economic boom Reagan created when he lowered taxes on everyone. Unemployment and inflation became very low a result. The New Deal was a failure, we didn't get out of the depression until 7 years after FDR entered office.

  • There is NO reason to credit Walker with saving jobs. That is all spin. HE is the one that caused the budget cuts.

  • @ge556 Yep, when you are out of money, you have to make budget cuts, geez you should run for president.

  • @ge556 He didn't cause the budget cuts the dem/doyle budget cost the budget costs... the 2009 budget was not balanced.
