  • It looks like an early version of the PS2's FreeMcBoot memory card shenanigans. If only it would recieve as much time, love and skill!

  • I've got no facts at all on the subject, but, I'm going to guess that you're not gay; neither am I- but, do you fancy giving it a go, getting married with me and just spending the rest of our lives in bliss tinkering with Dreamcasts and having friendly arguments about Ghosts'n'Goblins strategies and Pac-Man patterns?

    Hehehe.

  • This vid went viral on Phnom Penh

  • @franciscomrls0

"On" Phnom Penh!? I don't see how a video can go vireal "on" a city in Cambodia, sooooo, I'm guessing it's the name of some website or something?

  • I see you putted a blue LED on your DC. I heard they cannot fit because the shine will be weak. What kind of LED did you use ? thanks and sorry for talking about this here.

  • @dash94 PAL dreamcasts have blue LED's natively.

  • @bahamut2k456 They don't. Blue swirl orange LED. I live in France.

  • @dash94 How odd. Mine has a blue LED. I don't know then, sorry!

  • @bahamut2k456 You're lucky then ! Actually I just added a blue LED on mine. It fits pretty well with the blue swirl. For people reading us, you don't need anything else if you take care buying a 3v one.

  • my gd rom is fucked up so i cant use my dreamcast right with that mod

  • When you put your SD Card on your Dreamcast can you watch movies on your SD Card?

  • @Captainngamemaster I really hate to see stupid, uninformed and negative comments like yours. And with the correct settings and cables, standard def looks perfect on modern LCDs. Obviously the set up in this video was for demonstration purposes. Please take your troll comments elsewhere.

  • @RetroGameTech

Unless you have an upscaler it looks like shit, and even then its no where near as good as a crt. The "correct settings and cables" have nothing to do with it. noob.

  • @Captainngamemaster Not true sorry. Maybe what you are saying was correct a few years ago with older or very cheap LCD TVs but not today. I binned my old Sony CRT not that long ago. The replacement Bravia LCD gives a much better picture for all my retro system. The Dreamcast is connected via VGA and everything else goes through RGB Scart or component. Check out my recent setup vid.

  • @RetroGameTech hey retro i gotta question how is load times off an sd ive heard bad things

  • @GamerMGO I show retail games running and load times in part 3 ;-)

  • Can you use emulators on the SD card?

  • can i just ask did you have to patch the homebrew like the mario and doom games? not really bothered about running retail games of the sd card yet just because of the speed problems but homebrew (like all the half life mods) is what im looking to gain from it :)

  • i heard dreamcast games run slow through a sd card? is worth doing?

  • @cokabears its only worth it if your a huge enthusiest.

  • @cokabears Some commercial games will run perfectly (longer loading times tough) and all homebrew too. The commercial games that runs slow makes the console reading music during you play (instread of loading it before), that's why they run slow and you can download these games without music on the net to avoid this issue (if you own the original game I mean :).

  • After modding your Dreamcast like this, can you still put the casing back on it?

  • @mikeaol21 Watch the rest of the videos in the series ;-)

  • @RetroGameTech

    Alrighty, then.

  • omg i had super mario wars on my wii

  • By any chance , has anyone tested the Shenmue series yet? PLEASE tell me it works.

  • Before they boot properly.

  • So do have convert your isos to something different beforenthey

  • How do you have the DreamCast hooked up to that monitor?

  • can you backup sav from vmu to the sd card with this?

  • What's the highest capacity SD card the DC can read and use for ripping games?

  • @FeeLtheHertZ 32GB SDHC apperiantly, I'll be testing mine in a few weeks, so if anybody wants to know how the 32GB cards work, drop me a message and I'll let you know how I get along.

  • Ive been saying for years that the dreamcast is the best console ever made.I REST MY CASE......BTW I will be doing this to my dreamcast. And i hope its not to hard as ive only got 5 dreamcast units to go at.

  • @moggiecatmog ppfffttt... only five?, lightweight! :P

  • @moggiecatmog Ps2's a better machine, I mean, they're both incredible, but the PS2 has way more power, was MUCH better supported, and had dedicated USB, FireWire, and HARD DRIVE ports! Not to mention you could have up to 5 players at once on the PS2. I love my DC's though, I've got three B) The PS2 had DC I think were, indeed, the best consoles ever made. Quake 3 w/ DC mouse and keyboard is pretty awesome B)

  • @FeeLtheHertZ Shut up. PS2 is a pita to run backups without mod and there is no vga output, it's also much less substantial with a slowass usb1.0 port. I bet DC's sd card port is way faster as it can actually run games.

  • get a hdd working on this sucker and i think a lot more people would be interested even thought im not discrediting the DC at all...

  • Couple questions:

Does this work with .gdi files (DC's native file format)?

Since the game is being loaded off of a serial port, are there any noticable lags or delays when playing an actual DC game from the SD card?

    Cool mod!

  • @vincevaldez12 You can convert full GDRom Rips to the SDISO format and it will read them yes, with no downsampling! Look at the Headhunter and Skies of arcadia running on the SD Card adapter, they work PERFECT!

  • Too bad that some of my favourites run lousy or i would mod my console.

  • I had Mario War on my PSP, it was pretty crazy, full speed and hard mode!

  • this is a cool mod but i love my dreamcast so much i don't want to hurt it ..lol

  • @techromancer1 ahh go on, you know you want to, lol. It won't feel a thing!. I've installed everything internally now and apart from a hidden SD slot on the side you'd never know it was there.

  • @RetroGameTech Do you know anyone that would do that and how much would it be?

  • @techromancer1 If you're going to open her up and soldering on the motherboard, might as well go ahead and do the internal vga mod as well. I assure you, it's well worth the trouble. -=D

  • do you know where i should buy a jtagg i wanna buy one that is unbanned and a falcon or some sort if you can help me just comment or send a message

  • This is sweet! I'm gonna break out my backup DC and the soldering iron and try and get this up and running:)

  • This is realy cool I never had a dreamcast but now I might pick one used to try this out.

  • Thanks for showing off this mod in action, this is a really cool mod. Great job on the mod. I look seeing to seeing this mod fully fitted into your DC. It makes me want to go out and buy another DC.

  • Cannot wait to see what the final product will look like good job mate!!

  • Very interesting mod, and very interesting video. :)
