  • My all time fav actor not named Marlon Brando, and i cant wait until i see his interpretation of OL honest Abe This fall

  • amazing, his acting was so good that he seemed like a totally different person

  • He has a James Mason thing going on...

What an actor! I wonder if he knows just how good he is!!!

  • Ever since The Last of the Mohicans I have always really liked him. He's a wonderful actor

  • Brilliant man, brilliant actor. Nough' said.

  • This man transforms into the character that he plays on each occasion to such an extent that it appears as if they are different persons. The change in walk/speech/language/accent/character is quite remarkable.

  • i thought he would be a really brusque and intimidating dude in real life because of his performance in twbb. Wow what a mindfuck

  • ist that really Plainview in There Will Be Blood? Haha, I can't barely recognize him, what an amazing actor

  • i really think that he is one of the kind- as a man, as an actor. he is soo attractive in every way its possible

  • Daniel Day Lewis you are my favorite actor all times, and I am half of the half of your age! LOVE YOU!!!!!!!! My left foot/ The unbearable lightness of being/Gangs of New York/In the name of the father and so on....

  • ho visto daniel day lewes in molti film. Nel" Mio piede sinistro "e "Nel nome del padre " è di una bravura mostruosa

  • 15 people have no idea who Paul Thomas Anderson is.

  • What a fine man mm mm mm!

  • @ninethreefivesix i think the same. i would eat him alive... in a good way))))

  • His voice sounds a lot like John Lennon's

  • 15 people never saw There Will Be Blood

  • @MrC343 Or Gangs Of New York and My Left Foot.

  • such a beautiful humble man!

  • Clooney Can't hold Daniel day Lewis Oscar.

  • the most brilliant actor of all time

  • The Academy awards (to me) are critiqued by five or more movie freaks who think they know true artistic creativity... He should try and get a PEOPLES CHOICE AWARD!!! At least you'll know that the people have spoken... But DDL is a unique talent

  • @dramatical30 The Academy has close to 6,000 voting members, all of whom are industry people themselves (actors, producers, directors etc). The People's Choice Awards are a joke and a half. The general public can go screw themselves.

  • @gonzoprototype mmm true but the oscars are also more of a political campaign than an award ceremony nowadays

  • @dramatical30

Hahaha. A Peoples Choice Award? You can not be serious.

  • its okey but really he didnt deserve the academy award but this isnt a notice on the academy awards see the academy awards of 2009 i think the winners was just a joke :|

  • dang i cant stop switching from this video to the one of why he won the oscar... like two different people

  • He is another person compared to the one that we saw in the movie!

    Brilliant actor!!!!

  • @larsulrich1989 Yes. Visualize Bill the Butcher from Gangs of New York & listen to him speak in this clip..Yah I agree. Thats what you call a brilliant actor.

  • how can he change his voice??

  • @jrferrio because he's Daniel Day-Lewis, that's how

  • lol, it's funny how different this Daniel looks to the filthy, greasy, bearded, lunatic, grey/mad haired hat-sporting neurotic Daniel

  • His voice is so soothing. I could listen to it all day.

  • Can't wait to see him as Abraham Lincoln in Spielberg's new biopic!!!

  • hes almost like an archetype of the "method actor"

  • Something in his smile reminds me of Emma Watson

  • @TheFreeeSpiritt its the way the eyes become really small when they smile...

  • THE ULTIMATE METHOD ACTOR OF ALL TIME!!!

  • we should be able to lookk up actor in the dictionary andd see his face...daniel day-lewis you are the anti christ. long live the butcher

  • Is he wearing those earrings for real? Or are they a part of his movie character or sth?

    Hope it's the 2nd reason.

  • that ear ring makes him look like a faggot

  • @xuiton that comment makes you look like your 13.

  • @INITIALSJE ...Agreed !

  • @xuiton YEAH FUCKIN FAGGOTS THEY DO SO MUCH TO GO OUT OF THEIR WAYS TO DO US HARM, AND GOD ALMIGHTY HAS DIRECTLY TOLD US ALL THAT HE LOVES EVERYONE (EXCEPT FAGS) SO FUCK THEM!

  • Pleeeeease Daniel get a moustache like the 1 in there will be blood and gangs of new york u can pull it off like no other

  • Pleeeeease Daniel get a moustache like the 1 in there will be blood and gangs of new york u can pull it off like no other

  • I'm used to seeing him with a mustache

  • He was amazing in Gangs of New York

  • Mr. Day-Lewis, will you please give us more? You are a genius and rise above so many other actors on the big screen...I await your next brilliant performance.

  • Aaaah, i love his smile and his little vein popping up on his forehead when he laughs... Damn, he's so fine, how does he do that!!? : )

  • @1DerekRubin1 i know u cnt even tell can u

  • Daniels had a few drinks in this vid...

    Slainte!

  • @HitchHikersBlues

Actually, that's true...he did have a fews. On Getty Images, there is a editorial footage link. On that you can find (in two parts) the entire interview (which is actually funnier) and at one point, he admits that's he's had a few drinks and he also drops the 'f' bomb at one point (somewhat jokingly to an Aussie shock jock who somehow snuck into the Oscars)...also his response to one extremely stupid question was quite cute.

    I recommend watching it,

  • i mean, who doesn't like Jack Nicholson ??

He is one of the coolest white guys ever!

  • He's quite tall for an actor, alotta people dont know that... 6-1 or 6-2 ?

  • I'm Irish, and i love America...

It's been a good country to this little island.

But that MrGrevy guy has issues...

  • @HitchHikersBlues Shut your damn word hole you effeminate turd.

  • @MrGrevy : Eat shit, and die ! ...ya retard.

  • ♥♥♥

  • I LOVE Daniel Day-Lewis...

  • @AlexanderHvass : Yeah he's a fine actor indeed.

(In The Name Of The Father) (My Left Foot)

    Brilliant.

  • wow this is not the image i expected.. amazing actor

  • This man is the truth.

  • "life distracts you i the most wonderful way" ill be quoting this genius in any paper i can relevantly quote him in

  • he is gud

  • He's so calm, collected and pretty friendly. He just seems like an easy to talk to nice guy. That's what i get from interviews and things. So, where the fuck did Bill The Butcher and Daniel Plainview come from?

  • He's so calm all the time in real life and you know that he'll never snap or do anything crazy ever, but Daniel Plainview is a totally different story. He always looks on edge and mentally unstable. I can't believe it's the same person

  • I don't care how old he is, Daniel Day Lewis could drink my milkshake, and vice versa, any day of the week

  • he looked similar in There Will Be Blood and Gangs of New York, yet he looks NOTHING like his characters in real life. That kind of talent could be used in bad ways if you think about it! lol

  • you can tell how great he is by how completely unrecognizable he is in the role

  • He is nothing like the characters he plays. Compared to Jack Nicholson, who basically plays the same character from Cuckoo's Nest in every film he does.

  • @abluecarrot1 Nicholson's not a good actor imo because he doesn't really act - he just put on an obnoxious, goofy over the top crazy persona that I don't think he even has to try to do.

  • @abluecarrot1 : This MrGrevy guy is a clown.

Jack Nicholson is one of the finest screen ators that has ever lived...

I wonder what Jack Nicholson would say? if you told him he was a crap actor, GREVY IS A TOSSER!! : )))

  • @HitchHikersBlues Jack is great but he only does paradys of himself

  • @HitchHikersBlues Finest that ever lived? Wow, exaggerate much? No intelligent person would rate him as one of the greatest. Yeah he's entertaining, but a one trick pony. Grow up man. LOL at "tosser". This is America you goofy moron.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrGrevy

He said he was 'one of the finest" I think DDL has more talent than Jack, but DDL can't play himself for some reason, whereas Jack can be fascinating playing variations of his own image. That's s usually enough to qualify an actor as great...Humphrey Bogart, Spencer Tracy, and even Montgomery clift didn't stray too far from their own basic personalites and they are considered great. There's DDL chameleonic talent and their Jack's talent for being himself. Schimdt is not jack N..

  • @ShannonSam1 It just seems like Jack Nicholson is an actor for stupid people. He's loud, flashy, repetitious etc...but an intelligent cerebral "thinking" person gets tired of that schtick after awhile. The schizophrenic british weirdo who seems to be obsessed with him is a prime example of what I'm talking about.

  • For which movie is this?

  • @rhasijadi

this is for There WIll be Blood. HUSKY57887 and I were talking about 1993 when he was nominated for In the Name of the Father. I am not sure how that film got brought up...but if you haven't seen it, I recommend it. I am sorry if we confused anyone about the film in which his video was for.

  • What's with the damnm ad,Y.T.? Lewis should have won the following year for "In The Name Of The Father".

  • @HUSKY57887

I agree. His competition that year was Neeson doing a decent job in Schindler's list, Hanks (in Philadelphia, playing a saintly one-dimensional character), Fishbourne (playing Ike Turner -- another one-dimensional role) and Anthony Hopkins (whose performance was good but not necessarily a difficult role)...DDL's Belfast accent rocked, his emotional versatility was awe-inspiring and he oozed charisma, edge, and humor. The most entertaining and human performance of the bunch.

  • Jesus, crude american questions...

  • @HitchHikersBlues Yeah, but he turns bad questions into good answers

  • @lombmusic07 It was a fine question. Drop the arrogance you freaking jackass.

  • @HitchHikersBlues STFU you effeminate euro-turd. Not everything has to be a pseudo intellectual circle jerk - the guy was having some fun with him. You people are disgusting.

  • @MrGrevy : Effeminate ?? thats big word for a stupid american cunt ; )

And the questions are silly ya twat!

  • Unbelievable how calm he is normally but how energy his characters have.

  • Fucking retarded of all the questions the interviewer asks about GEORGE CLOONEY, who gives a fuck?!

  • Amazing! Love this guy.... <3 <3 <3

  • wow, great actor

  • What a Dude...

  • Does he sound at all like John Lennon to anyone else?

  • @BenjaminWirtz the reason why is because daniel is irish and the nearest place to ireland from england is liverpool and lennon was from liverpool so thats why they sound abit the same i surpose .....but the accents are compleatly differant belive ....

  • @leemeires

DDL was born and raised in england and lived there until he was in his 30's. I assumed that his accent was a hybrid of English and Irish. (but to my American ears, he sounds more English than Irish)

  • @ShannonSam1 you properbly are right i always thought he was from ireland see you learn something new every .....

  • @BenjaminWirtz No. He's not a scouser!

  • im glad he dosent have a stick up his ass

  • Very convincing as a yank, ever so i thought he was one. More and more Brits making it in the movies nowadays good times!

  • @kragger1985 Shut the hell up he's not an effeminate British weirdo!

  • @MrGrevy F U!

  • i agree

  • Any woman would be lucky to have this man!

  • greatest living actor, hands down.

  • @MrGrevy without a doubt

  • @MrGrevy I totally agree with you! Very selective with his choices in movie industry!

  • @MrGrevy I never thought he was. until........There will be Blood, what an amazing performance. Dare I say,I think it is the best acting job ever

  • @MrGrevy

I would go a step further and say...Greatest actor EVER.

  • @MrGrevy And I knew he was, but when you see him so cordial in interviews and such, you see how far he had to stretch to play these aggressive characters like the butcher

  • Daniel day lewis is a uniqe actor because he carefully picks his films and does it for the fun of it as opposed to most other actors who do it for the pay check.

  • aww man wheres teh MUSTACHE!?!? I came for teh goddam MUSTACHE

  • @solokeith5000 I know man and the American accent.

  • Handsome inside and out. Physically beautiful and just has a personality like no other. He is love :)

  • greatest actor ever, wish hed do more films

  • best actor eva!

  • unbelievably talented person, a master at what he does

  • I Fuckin luv Bill the butcher

  • one of the greates actors in history

  • Amazing actor!

  • god he's just a whole different man on the screen. bravo daniel day lewis. bravo.

  • he's more english than irish.

  • Maybe one's noticed, but Daniel is drunk. And even drunk he's more articulate than any actor out there. That show you how intelligent a person is.

  • could watch/listen to him all day.........

  • one of my fav ever

  • Lewis the GREATEST !

  • i think the best actor today i mean when you see him here and thanin his movies like gangs of newyork or there will be blood its just unbelivable.

  • I've written a song dedicated to Daniel Day Lewis. If you'd like to listen please go to my channel.

  • I love Daniel. And to me, he's just wonderful in every of his films and he deserve to win in all his nominations. What's great is that he'd done a lot of research for his roles and he gives constant devotion to his roles......And at 52, he's still handsome and attractive!

  • I love Daniel. And to me, he's just wonderful in every of his films and he deserve to win in all his nominations. What's great is that he'd done a lot of research for his roles and he gives constant devotion to his roles......And at 52, his still handsome....

  • DDL is way too modest and you gotta love that about him. He keeps reiterating how honored he is to be in the same category as other actors whose acting skills pale so damn much in comparison to his.

  • Christoph Waltz...Is...D D-Lewis' german twin!

  • Dang this guy is a damn great actor

  • Daniel deserved that Oscar, he played an unbelievable character, so selfish, evil & vile. Sometimes, & I hope some people might agree with me, I usually don't give 100% credit to the actors. I think the only source for creating such characters in a film, should strongly be awarded to directors & most of all, screenwriters. Of course, it's an actor's job to bring that character to life on screen & for you to do it well, it's difficult. But screenwriters are the heroes here, &theydeservemore eyes.

  • Viggo Mortenson should have won.

  • @elvaelvirababe

would you let Daniel Day Lewis rub his balls against your neck ???

  • uS BRITS HAVE THE BEST ACTORS

  • Agreed.

  • He;s Irish!

  • @robram818

Actually he was born and raised in England and lived there until his mid 30's after completing two Irish films. He has duel citizenship now in England and ireland. Only his dad was Irish and barely that (born there but basically raised in England)

  • @robram818

He is English, Irish, and Eastern European technically. Born and raised in england (lived there until he was in his mid-30's.) He dad was born in ireland, but raised in england after age 4. His mom was english but her grandparents were Jewish eastern european immigrants to england. DDL now has duel citizenship in ireland and england. I think his accent is much more English than Irish which is why his irish films are so impressive.

  • Daniel Day Lewis and Leonardo DiCaprio are my favorite actors today!

  • "BASTARD FROM A BASKET!"

to me the most heartfelt scene of the film

  • @CKapps what do you mean by heartfelt?

  • my local chipper now has that as the special on the menu, basket from a basket with fries and a drink

  • @CKapps

    Haha

  • @CKapps word but ill drink your milkshake lolz

  • Best Current Actor!!!!

  • Completely!

  • @bigtrain207 Ya not even close

  • CLASS ACT?? did you know DDL cheated on his gorgeous french longterm girlfriend, then abandoned their son together? he is well known as a very demanding and difficult personality, although a brilliant actor. don't mistake DDL for a class act in his real life because he creates magic on screen. true class acts are actors like meryl streep, who has been married to the same person for 30 years, is a happy, joyous person by all accounts. i met DDL in an airport once and he was an ass!!!

  • That sucks that you had a bad experience with DDL...I have heard stories about his aloofness especially at airports (never heard of any outright hostility though--hopefully he wasn't too rude)...but generally, the stories are positive about encounters with him.

The Adjani stories and the method acting stories are exaggerated though. By the way, he now has full custody of their son Gabriel kane--the deal with her and their son was much more complicated that people realize.

  • thanks, shannon, and you may well be right. i've always felt that celebrities are de facto role models and as such, their body of work is not all that matters; the way they conduct themselves in their personal and social lives has an impact as well.

  • @katjamendez He thanked his son when he won his oscar. He is still in touch with him because he has custody of him.

  • Just because he hasn't remained married to a singular partner precludes him from being a class-act? There are instances in life (intimate affairs), when things don't work out and instead of remaining in a hateful grind you choose to move on. He is an amazing actor, and unless you have had a close personal contact with him, keep your gossip to yourself.

  • @katjamendez, what does not make somebody not a class act. He is a class act when it comes to acting. And as him acting like an 'ass' at the airport, I think most people would If they have been on a long flight. Another side to my argument is that, you haven't got feet to stand on, your youtube profile is fully of Twlight videos, good day sir...

  • yeh i hear this guy is the hardest dude to work with and can be a complete asshole.

  • Not an asshole, but i can imagine hes hard to work with. Because he dedicates himself COMPLETELY to the role.

  • Shut up seriously.

Meryl Streep is fantastic... but who on earth cares how long somebody is in a marriage for. That is in no-way-shape-or-form relevant to anything. You have no right to judge him based on his past relationships; how absurd. You don't know anything.

If I was DDL I would be an arse to people like you at airports as well. I personally wouldn't be able to stand random strangers getting in my personal space. Some people are private like that, and you should respect that.

  • @katjamendez Because there is only one way to live, and the only correct way is to be married for a long time. God you're a small minded moron.

  • i love him. The way he always mentions where hes from!

  • Why is this guy not knighted already ?

Sean Connery and Anthopy Hopkins are "SIR"

    He has 2 oscars !

It must be Sir Daniel Day-Lewis.

  • He looks slender in real life than he did on the last mohican

  • Day-lewis is a real class act.

  • ma quanto è bono ddl???!!!!

  • What an amazing actor. Sounds like a great guy as well. Did he win this for his role in There Will Be Blood?

  • Yes
