@Iejuss if you have the exact same camera, there is no USB connection possible. only with the composite or FireWire connector can you get the video onto the computer. I have another video on connecting this camera with various options. to a computer. just add the following line to youtube.com and watch that video. hope it can help you out a bit.
@BashFeri1 i have another camera since 2 months. i don't remember having the problem you're having. unfortunattely there is no way of attaching an external microphone. only solution you have is recording your sound on something else, or considering a new camera.
@yousurfer2 i have no knowledge of Vegas, but i think there will be an "import" function in vegas with which you can control the plaback functions. i use Pinnacle studio which does have that function. usually you would connect the camera through firewire, switch it on and then startup your video editor. maybe you can search some vids on youtube :-)
Is there any way i can connect this camcorder to my pc and watch my video clips on there? i've been trying to figure it out for a year now, can you tell me how i can connect it to my computer and where to install the driver i would apprieciate it. I hope its not too much trouble. Please reply
hey hab ne frage wie kann ich die qualie auf der cam(Samsung VP-D381)so nit breitbild qualie machen?also kann man das über die cam überhaubt einstellen?
Hi Shotec1. if your computer has a firewire port there should be no problem. you could try the standard windows moviemaker software which comes with windows to capture your video, but allmost any other video editing package should have no problem with the camera (i use Pinnacle studio 12 and have had no problems so far). hope this is helpfull for you :-)
Hi dayworld26. yes, it can take photo's, but not the way a digital camera would. it just records a still image on tape. it's a miniDV camera and there is no card slot for, say, an SD card.
Hi Hockeyvalley. i think this camera is pretty good actually. and i am pretty satisfied with it. i have allready shot some video's with it. but quality also depends on the resolution you record with your computer. as this camera still uses tapes, instead of memorycards you can get some better quality out of it i think. you could check out my video of the funfair of Tilburg. i shot some stuff there. if you want to know more, just ask. i hope this has helped you a bit.
I definitly think it is worth buying. the microphone on it is pretty good too. but, i haven't taken it to woods, so i can't really tell if it is good for that stuff too, but i think it will be. just be sure your computer has a firewireort though. this camera only has firewire and no USB. Good luck ;-)
in my opinion it is pretty good. i've shot some footage of a funfair recently. ofcourse, i had to edit it a bit, but if you check out my latest video, you can look and see what quality is it. (ofcourse, there is compression). sound and video are pretty good i must say. hope this helps you a bit.
i'll def. check it out.. but the problem i had with the mx20 was less because of the video/audio quality ( wich was actually pretty good ) it was more about the videoformat of the videos.. the computer was unable the recognize the format.. and when i called the support center i didn't get any support with my problem and they said i the guarantee to return it doesn't work with this sort of problem that is why i'm kinda pissed at samsung coz now i got a cam that i can not use.. bummer!! keep it up
Hi patcham6. adobe premiere pro is good. you can use any video editing software i think. but, no, the camera does not have a USB connection. only firewire.
Hi MannequinFilms. Yes, i used Orion Platinum from Synaps Audio. But, i have to say that this pice of music is pretty old and i don't have the original file anymore. it was created with a much old version of this software.
hi im having trouble with my camera. i dont know how to get videos from my camera onto my laptop and i dont know what firewire connector or any of tht is. i just know tht i got tht red, white and yellow cable, a tape cassette thingy(lol) and a battery, which im a little confused about. i have a sony vaio, i dunno if thts of any relevance...theres nowhere to stick the coloured cable in my computer..im not even sure what it does. so how do i get videos and pictures onto the laptop. plz help!!
Hi MannequinFilms. You can check out my review of the camera to find out what the colored cables are for and how you could use them.
Unfortunately, not every computer has a built-in firewire port. my very old vaio laptop had one, but the current laptop doesn't. you could search on wikipedia for more information on firewire.
In the review video i show how i connect the camera to my laptop right now. maybe that can help you out :-)
Hi Mike. you should probably check the wikipedia article on firewire to see what type of connector you need. usually a normal windows computer doesn't have firewire onboard. maybe you can ask a local computershop if they sell firewire expansion cards which you can add to your PC. i will send you a personal message with the wiki link for firewire.
check out my review video for how i connect the cam to my laptop. after i have recorded, edited and renderd out my video's through Cyberlink Powerdirector, ik simply upload them through youtube :-)
hi goalkeeperg. this camera has a setting with which you can change the shutter speed so that it catches more light. downside however is that video footage tends to look a little "slower" (as in, it blurs more).
Hi canadarization. sorry for the late reaction, but as far as i know, the charger only works on 220 Volts (as i am from the Netherlands, chances are that the specs in other country's might be different, but i am not sure).
Yes it does have a microphone. a good one in my opinion :-). you can hear it in my latest uploaded video (Amsterdam Twinkle Lights). it is the first video i shot with this camera (more footage on the tape, but i have to edit that :-P).
how do i download videos from my d381 to the pc with the composite cable. i plug it in but nothing comes up on my pc. what do i have to do. it doesn't show my camera on the pc or anythig. please help
When using the composite cable, the camera won't show up, because that cable can also be used to hook up your camera to a TV. if you use a firewire cable to connect your cam to your computer, and turn the cam on, windows should recognise it. if it does recognise it, you can than start your video editing software to capture from your camera. be sure to set your mode correctly on the cam, so that you can capture from tape or directly from the camera itself. hope this works for you.
when your camera is turned on, you press the mode button on the back of the camera. it then switches to play mode. the little joystick beside your LCD is used to control the play functions which will show up on the screen.
Hi pipstleen. The 3 colour cable is a composite cable. you can use it to hook up your camera to a tv or vcr. I assume you are running windows on your computer. when you plug in the camera through the firewire connector and turn it on, windows will identify your new camera. if you have windows XP SP2 you can use Movie Maker which is build in to winXP and capture with that. be sure to switch to the correct mode on your cam to either record from tape or record directly. hope this helps you out :-)
Yes for a short answer, they haven't included a tape nor a firewire cable. as an alternative you could get a tv tunercard and connect it to that (with the 3 color composite cable). for me, that's the current solution i am gonna use, because there is no firewire port on my current laptop (and the camera only has firewire, no USB). Hope that this answers your question :-)
i just got the camera 2day and the instructions arne't in english. i got a cable with 3 colours. what is this. do i need to download a software or something on my pc cos when i plug it in, nothing comes up on the pc. please help.
by the way, this is my first camera, so i don't know much.
Yes, that is possible. you are able to connect it directly and record through software without a tape (i could even use in in MSN :-D). hope this answers your question.
Hello! Thanks for the video! Can you connect directly to a computer and use a software to record the footage? like 8 hours or so? without using the tape?
hmm...looks like my last comment didn't come through. a little tip than. search wikipedia for firewire. i think you will find a lot of info there. the last comment i made had a url for you, but.....the comment was not posted.

Firewire 400 is the port on the back with which you connect it to your PC or Mac. it doesn't have USB. I don't mind, but a lot of people don't have firewire on there PC, so if that is the case, you'd be better of looking for another camera or get a firewire card in your system. Is there any way i can reduce the noise? does it support an external microphone?

Firewire 400 is the port on the back with which you connect it to your PC or Mac. it doesn't have USB.
