@bbtapb Piper increased the thickness of the main spar doublers from 1/4" to 3/8" in their LSA wing based upon the CH601XL wing, the FAA still has questions about the Zenith spar mod you mention, while I am working on external main and rear spar struts. My aircraft already has hundreds of modifications, a few of which reinforced the cockpit where my new strut saddles will mount. You have good timing, I just ordered the 4130 tubing from Aircraft Spruce this afternoon!
Sabrina - how long did it take to build in number of hours? I started building a CH601 XL. I just built the rudder. I started to think it would take too much time. However, you are inspiring me to get out there and try to keep building. How long does it take to finish?
Just turned 15, Illinois, and thanks. It has been flying 6 months now (January, February, March, April, May and June) no problems, from days were the temperature is below zero to the 80s, all different winds, humidity, etc.
10 minutes of the same still view of the left wing.? I'm just curious: Did you-Sabrina, the airplane builder, right? fly this maiden flight, and 2) Where you alone in the cockpit and installed your camera or portable phone camera on the left, in a still position? Anyway I saw your building videos and my congratulations, hope you enjoy that plane in a lot of bush adventures.
My test pilot flew the airplane. He flies from the right seat--the camera was mounted on the left headrest. Actually 20 minutes of video but You Tube only allows 10 minutes.
I hope you have the wing spar mod. A smart girl should have no problem appreciating the design flaw in miscalculating span loading.
Great job building it! I'll look for your plane at OSH... Fly safely!
