To be honest, it's the real difference between two teams! But I'm happy of hungarian performance, because to defeat against Latvia with this game it's fantastic. Ten years ago, if hungarian national team won over team China was a big step and a miracle. To get up to division B was incredible in 90'. But now, this is a very good team unfortunately with little experience game against big teams.
I just hope in WC hungary won't be dumb and fight against Canada on 100%. They better leeave this game for champions, to keep powers for next matches.
There are diferences in the players´ experiences. Latvia plays in WCH elite categorie over 10 years and it´s players are playing for clubs in KHL, so they know the top level hockey performed by great russian, slovakian, czech, swedish, finnish etc. players. The most of Hungarian team play in Austrian league for Alba Volan, which has it´s qualities, but the speed and skills of the tops team are much higher. We have seen in at world champs in Switzerland.
Hungarian teams didn´t manage the defence, above all in Latvia´s powerplays. For example, before the second latvian goal three defending player are watching the puck and the fourth one stands ner the blue line, he has absolutely no reaction on Latvia´s player (goal scorer, I believe it was Darzins) move. And the defending player in front of the target is watching the puck, so he is seeing the moving Darzins too late and he cannot block his shot or disturb him.
Yeah but thats very good result for Hungary cuz they shot only 5 times and score 3 goals. All goals who scored Hungary was like WTF ??? How cud you can let it in lol
We have problems with defender players, because in hungary all parents want to see their children scooring goals and not defending in back...so we have problems because our defenders are quite old to play in international. We have lot of very good forward, like PALKOVICS or VAS brothers and so one...
the progress of Hungary national team kinda reminds me of how Latvia battled its way up after the collapse of USSR.. that's what interesting about world hockey - you never know how the standings will look like after the tournament
If the coach was smarter he would change it to our 2nd goalkeeper - Naumov. And then the score could been much better, but still we won, and I'm happy about that :-)
Nu takš liecies mierā... nepaveicās mazliet Masaļskim, bet paveicās ungāriem... tad, kad pasaules čempionātā LV iemeta gandrīz ar vienu metienu no zilās līnijas čehiem un izcīnīja niču 1-1 neviens takš neteica, ka viņu vārtusargs r sūdīgs... kam negadās...
i think, that Hungarians must be very proud. 3-7 defeat by Latvia its not bad. wish u luck to the 2 rest games. but NT Hungary is a step lower team that Latvia :)

Latvian goalie was having a real down in his career at that time :)
He did great this season though and you will probably see him in national team in World champs
