I don't know what's wrong with me? I heard the piece thousands of times, but it was impossible for me to like it. I always found something monotonous in it, I'm not quite sure...the thing is, I am a fanatic floydian and I feel kind of strange when everybody else praises the song and I, as a PF fan, cannot say at least one good word about it. I guess it's a matter of taste and frame of mind...some things overwhelm you and some other things just repel you...depends how you see life etc.

That's Stephen Hawking's voice. He is a great physicist and is famous for writing A Brief History of time among other things. His voice sounds like a robot because he can't talk due to his motor neuron disease, which makes it so he can barely move at all. (so he talks through a robot)

@gitily It's not a voice that's particular to Stephen Hawking you know. It's generic computer speech which he's had since the mid 80s. Although he could have replaced it with a much more true to life speech since then he decided to keep it as he felt that he was now characterised by that particular speech. So they didn't even need to get Stephen Hawking involved at all yet it would have still sounded like him if they had put in some scientific sounding enough phrases.

Thinking about the subject of this song (which i may not get in it's entirety) i realize we humans need to accept that we are neither animal nor gods, we are the hybrid abomination in between, and we sometimes don't know how to handle the "divine" part of us (thinking, talking, feeling), that is one of the many occasions where sense get's beaten and absurd invades us.
