Ne-yo wrote this song, and that is him singing it, so I'm guessing he sang it first so she knows how it's supposed to be without him having to be there.

Ne-yo sang it first, as you can see in another video, because he wrote it for LeToya. That's what I was talking about, responding to someone else's comment.

A LOT of artists have their songs demoed by other artists, especially by the people that write them. Just to make sure the song is portrayed as best as possible.

As a writer myself...we make the reference for the artist and they record it....this is one method of recording the song, record over it or u can juss memorize it and record it and put your flavor on it.
