you just dnt hear male R&B sangers dat can put they soul in they music like bobby womack, sam cook,al green just to many to name from da 50's an 60's an 70's but them guys is just bad hands down
this song represents 1970's ny when neighborhoods were their own territories woth invisible dangerous borders defuned by race class drugs and music. nothing like tge corporate presence ny now has even in the ghettos
There's always top ten lists of greatest songs. These lists of course are subjective. I'm not sure how many people could really argue with this song's inclusion in that list. The lyrics are deep. There's something even more here though. It is the ability of music to cut across all boundaries to reach a collective understanding of the human condition. If this song fails to stir your soul than I'm not sure if anything can.
This is what I'm talking about. What a GREAT video--thank you for posting. BW=major skills. If you can't feel the emotion this gent puts into this performance, than you're not breathing.
the best part of this wonderful well written song is when he said that" there is a family on the other side of town will catch hell without getto around" this is so true. rich folks on the other side of town that make money by cokping harlem.
Ditto, Thank you to Jackie Brown for bringing/reviving this amazing voice and talent to and for all generations to come! Brilliant! Totally brilliant!

this true american folk music. Mr Womack must be recognized as a poet of the urban diaspora.

Thank god for Jackie Brown, because I doubt I would have heard this otherwise. Great movie and possibly even better soundtrack.
