  • That is an "imported" video. =p

  • This video went viral on Haiti

  • Lemur is Now on IOS for Ipad!!

  • Jazzmutant is dead, but my Lemur is very much alive. There isn't a touch device that will ever come close and it will have pride of place in my studio for the rest of my life.

  • the future of turntables? that would be tight :)

  • why did they stop making jazzmutant lemurs?

    WHYYYYYY

  • anyone that knows about a internet site where i can buy this? and does it work for FL studio?

  • cool, i never knew this tech already here. :P

  • RIP jazzmutant

  • @adderxxx

Jazzmutant is dead, no more new Lemurs are produced...thats a pitty, mainley because there is still no competitive product on the market (noooo, Ipad is nice, but regarding music control no match for a Lemur).

So RIP Jazzmutant....but the users are still alive! This video is a bit old, but I am still developing new tools - watch my channel (if interested)!

  • @tonvibration if i toured with an ipad i'd have to replace it every time i dropped it, spilled a drink, a person making a request spills a drink, sneeze on it, etc... they aren't made for touring straight up. If u want a lemur, buy a few. I am looking to buy a few more myself.

    soundcloud(dot)com(slash)keamo

  • @tonvibration "The Reactable" Live is the best

  • @tonvibration I'm getting into the electronic hobby and trying my hands at creating more than just listening but as you rightly said, it does resemble an iPad at first look. Can you say in a few words (or a lot of words - I like reading) why this is better than an iPad? I see Lemur has made an iOS app available now.

  • @supercooled

Actually Liines Lemur for Ipad App is a Game changer (it came out 7th december 2011, so watch date of comments) Now the Ipad can be a Lemur! However, Ipad screen is smaller and hardware and communication is less robust. But it is really worth a try!

  • So you first have to create a song in Ableton or a similar software and then this can add effects to it live?

  • @Trondheim18

This is a controller. The music and effects come from somewhere else (e.g. Ableton Live). You can control them live... like a USB keyboard..the difference is, that you can build your controls, like "I need a fader for this here" or "I want a Ringarena with that on X and that on Y there". By changing the controls you might change performance. Like if you give a painter another brush, he will paint other pictures (although he got the same colors).

  • Cool controller!!! Check out my vids. Cheers

  • You sound like Facejacker

  • I'd like to see what Beardyman could do with this.

  • Im hopefully going to get this. I was wondering does it have bult in speakers or do you need to connec it to speakers?

  • @revolutionoctave

Well, you not only have to connect speakers, you have to connect software! The Jazzmutant Lemur is a controller, it does not make any music on it self. But it gives you the opportunity to build your own interfaces to control your music.

The video just show examples...and it is old...look for newer (and better) controls at my channel.

  • @tonvibration Do you know the name of the softwear and how much does it cost? Or does the new one have the softwear bult in? Also thank you very much.

  • @tonvibration Is it possible to rig the Lemur in a way that it would control different software at the same time and maybe reading automation?

  • @thehornypuppy

    totally.

    thats what the Lemur for.

Midi and OSC 2-directional communication - with different software and hardware at same time... well... freedom in routing makes it also it little less "plug n play" compared to other devices...

  • this is a profissional tool not a ipad app..is designed for pro musicians ..

  • @IcarusTuga7

While they both have their uses, and are excellent pieces of hardware, I don't think musicians should cast off the iPad as a toy. It has the potential to make revolutionary cultural statements.

  • @elanmak Dude you should totally tweet that deep statement on your Ipad.

  • @CommandAndCommentary i totally should, dude.

  • Is this more of a synthesizer or an effects processor? Basically I'm confused if it has its own sounds or if you input your own music/ sounds and you can control them from there.

  • @Rhythmatist123

The Jazzmutant Lemur is a controller. You can control any Midi or OSC soft-or hardware. In that video I explain my personal build Ableton6 control surface. For other (and newer!) control surfaces, visit my channel.

  • fuck man i hate it when i got no clue wtf people are talking about lol i got no clue what the lemur does except control music and lights

  • @roflsteaksauce You can use it to control anything that can be controlled by MIDI controllers

  • Djing apps for ipad??

  • Touch OSC works on the ipad , and u build controls ...

the New Version will be Good

  • LEMUR < iPAD!!!!!

  • @ADADIZZLE

    Lemur > iPad !!!!!

    ;)

(till now, there is no app where you can build your controls such detailed as on the Lemur....but probably will come soon...)

  • @ADADIZZLE I wouldn't trust a toy like the iPad to run my live show. =P

  • @Fagottron Word i did love when daft used this back on the grammy's though but really mac sucks ass uses for other than just a cpu anyway

  • @ADADIZZLE another fail dude. mac is like, ugh nevermind im not waisting my time on you. youre dumb. get to know things BETTER than what you know of them.

  • @ADADIZZLE ha naw dude chill. youre taking it too far.

  • @ADADIZZLE youre a fail just cause you posted that comment. you have no idea what the lemur is capable of do you?

  • @ADADIZZLE You are a moron. Lemur is design specifically for music and cannot do anything other than music. iPad on the other hand is made for internet browsing NOT music. Idiot. There is no way iPad can even compare to Lemur in terms of capability.

  • @Tatsutahimie

    calm down dick hole

  • dis ist due to zie quantifikation! .... ahahah loving the accent. good job

  • I WANT were exactly can u get them from

  • they have a web site

  • Can u dj with it?

  • sure! there are several templates at the JM-user section (Traktor and Co...but I am not into djing) also you can use it for lights, or whatever....

  • Tnx for the quick reaction.

  • @Bobdelouvain yes, you can with traktor pro, the template will look just like a real digital turntable

  • wantwantwant...

this could be just the thing to get me back into production and playing out!!

Don't dare look how much :s

  • Deadmau5 and NIN use them too. awesome!

  • nice video, looks like great fun - its 'quantized' though :)

  • Daft Punk uses these. And they have special made ones that look so sick!

  • Daft Punk - like most Lemur users - use their own templates. These videos are just examples for control surfaces, you can edit them....

  • how much for one?

  • about 2 grand

  • If this is not THE sickest MIDI controller ever I don't know what is..... Must get leeping Lemur.

  • dude thats cool

  • god id kill for one of these

  • Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, Thanks man. I am definitely going to save up and pick up this wonderful wonderful wonderful tool. It's a paintbrush for all mediums.

  • I love the lemur but 2k is a little bit exesive for a midi controller

  • sure - much money!

But if you think about what most of us have spent on hardware synths until these went "inside" the computer (what made them a lot cheaper or even free) it is nearly a bargain. .... well, not really....., but my whole equipment is now 50% cheaper than 10 years before!

It´s a hard decission to buy one, but I love my Lemur :-)

  • so true.... this little thing is so tempting I think I might buy one..even though I dont know how to justify 2k for a midi controller

  • Here here.... I'm spending less on getting more.... but will I stop buying anyway....pfft.... shiny thing addiction!

lemur ..... I simply must have one immediately!

  • Can you buy me one please?

  • dude this is gotta be what daft punk used live. I saw a video of them live and they were using some touchscreen interface music controller.

  • yeh it is. they used them at the grammys and on ther alive tour

  • They use two of these and a few other things.

  • Yeah it man im positive i saw the same video those things awesome but so expensive

  • yeah they do use this but with custom ableton software

  • They're on Jazzmutant's website as one of the artists who uses it.

  • Yeah, this is it.

  • are you connected via OSC or MIDI?

  • This setup is connected via MIDI, but the Lemur can talk OSC too.

OSC is probably the better communication in complex modules (faster feedback), but I´m used to Midi and it also works.....

  • very interesting midi controller that has to be very funny... !!

  • Wow this is pretty cool.

  • Very good tutorial. Thanks for posting!

    FREEZE THE BALLS!!

  • This is fantastic bro. A really, really cool vid man. I am going to begin to do the exact same very very soon. It is time to bring the people closer and more informed into the world of Jazzmutant. That was a cool idea with panning on the Multiball. does it come pre mapped with Ableton as MCU or 4 track? Or will I need to assign the midi? I really appreciate your help.

  • Thanx :-) nice to hear...

the the 4-balls-module is not premapped. but you can route the 8 parameters easy in live (tip: use the range, because moving a ball might send on 2 axis (no good for routing;))

the midi setting on the lemur is

    (target:1 ; channel:2 ; controller:1-8)

you can change these settings of the variables inside the ball object ("Balla/....")

    have fun :-))
