boston is one of the great bands of the 70's and more so the 80's. They were the best studio band of the time....not to leave out Steele Dan....these bands kept it going and going. Way to much attention was paid to ignorant fools and those who might never see the real wrighters of great music and great times...studio bands were the back bone of true writers....now and then.

I had a couple of friends married at a young age and the song Dr. Love by KISS was already 8 - 10 years old, and they found out that not only did the baby love KISS music, but Dr. Love would actually put a smile on his face then the song Beth would put him to sleep. They they discovered a few years later when Guns -n- Roses came out, that their 2nd baby would fall asleep easier by that. Loved all the songs, but then a ballad on that album put the baby to sleep.

I think the "Best Band" title is tough to put on any of them. Unlike today, the the bands of that era each had their own style. Boston had/has a great sound that is theirs. They are no Beatles or Led Zeppelin but they did contribute to the sounds of the time.... Just my opinion....

Whether the kids nowadays want to admit it or not those rock bands of the 60's and 70's were, for the most part, originals... They made modern music what it is... @TrickyRick59 Boston didn't have a huge contribution, that's true, but that doesn't mean their music deserves any less credit, they are a very good band, possibly as good as those you mentioned, only that their style is quite individual, Lynyrd Skynyrd also have their own individual style of rock, but they are still an incredibly good band.

@1937773 I think you misunderstood my comment.... They along with the others in the 70's influenced future bands due to their unique style.. I wish the bands now could stop copying each other and get their own sound... That is why I miss the 60's and 70's.... If you check out all the bands of that time you will find a shitload of talent that defined each one and not a whole lot of copycats.... Also it was amazing what kind of sounds they made without the complex equipement used today...

The Beatles had quite good song writing, they might be slightly more memorable, but hey, the Beatles kind of beat everyone don't they? Boston>Led Zeppelin. Black Sabbath>Led Zeppelin. @TheBirdMamma I don't like comparing bands. It's not fair cause in most cases people the comparison are not even from the same era... Tom Scholz says one of his musical influences was Jimmy Page. So I think of it like Tom's guitar is an extension of Zeppelin.. He had other influences so lets not go there and I am not saying he copied anyone cause Boston had a very unique sound. What I am saying I guess is each band whether it's Boston or Queen or Zep made their mark in history...

I think Bostons first album was their best titled "Boston" but once again thats a personal opinion.. How about Fleetwood Mac Rumors or Queen's Night at the Opera or Pink Floyd the Wall? My latest favorites are Foo Fighters... I say just keep on enjoying music and don't get stuck with one favorite or you might miss out on another..

THey also were early on in the history of rock... in their day the Beatles were hype but did help make rock what it is today... Boston Came after and had a different sound... THey were unique...
