  • how would i do that if i had more than one layer of text?

  • @ERICKURIEL23 I believe the only way is to merge your text layers first if you're going to use the clipping mask... However, with a layer mask you only need to turn your text into a selection and use it normally like Howard did here...

    Hope that helped :)

  • 0:20 what font is that I've been wanting to purchase but just can't seem to find it ;(

  • Thanks a lot man, thank you sooo much.

  • I love your tutorials - thank you.

  • Great tutorial as ever! Thanks so much!

  • grrrrrreeeeat ;)

  • Awesome, that'll remove the most annoying thing with clipping masks

  • Another FANTASTIC, simple video - Tks! One question though, as much as you thoroughly explain with PS would you please consider voicing whether or not this could or could not be accomplished someway in PSE? Thanks again for your breakdowns.

  • thanks for your awesome tutorials, they are to the point and easy to understand.

i have learned a lot more than with many other written tutorials on the web.

especially this one in particular solved a big problem for me.

please keep on posting new stuff, you are doing a great job!

    thanks and greetings from germany!

  • Wonderful! Thank you so much! Could you do a tutorial on how to change hair color? It would be really helpful for me. Also on how to swap hair with a different picture. Thank you so much for all your tutorials

  • Is it possible to make luma masks or something similar in photoshop? I want to use an image that I created a luma matte as the information for my layer mask

  • Amazingly useful!

  • WICH PHOTOSHOP ARE U USE???

  • @adelsubot HIS USE PHAWTOSHAWP CS5

  • You always learn something! Thanks!

  • Thank you man !!! You are AWESOME !!!

  • Your good!

  • You have no idea what I used to do to get the same effect that you've shown in this video!! It wasn't a ton of time, but compared to "command+click", it was an eternity!

  • Didn't know about linkink at the layer mask part. Thanks!

  • Also, using a clipping mask with text means the text will stay live and can easily be changed.

  • awesome, this tut helps me a lot! Thanks Howard! )

  • what font is this?

  • @boogeywomanbard I believe it was Helvetica Neue.

  • Been subscribed for awhile, and your videos are basically a intro to photoshop course in college. I just finished mine and your vids teach the same stuff, and it's free (^_^)b

  • maybe you can do a series of videos explaining how each of the blending modes (and maybe another series for filters) works inside photoshop(with an example of each that's similar to what u r doing in this video)

  • well to me, there's the projects from scratch, like logos and icons, where everything has to be symmetrical, perfect sharp edges, i use processes like that clipping mask; then there are other projects like tweaking photos or almost free handing projects to fix something, i would use processes like layer mask.

  • so clipping masks take into account just the layer under them? or all layers under them?

  • Love you! I had this as my lesson this week at school.

  • Laaaaaikkkkkk

  • can dy at the start is some bad kerning

  • @lukespurs4life lol "can dy" and kerning used in the same sentence xD lol

  • @lukespurs4life One of the downfalls of most free and/or unprofessionally created fonts.

  • @TalesOfWar Most free fonts are useless! Unless you are designing knock off NASA or James Bond T-shirts.

  • nice stuff

  • Yeah, there is a house...!

  • love this.

  • Ctrl + G have the same resuilt right ?

  • @nonatanoftona ctrl + alt + g for clipping mask

  • TEXT

  • Also if you want to change the text, the 2nd method has an advantage

  • In the negative space between the E and the X there's a house..

  • @IceflowStudios That's how i know iceflowstudios. Really great tutorial !!!

Thumbs up and saved into my playlist!

    Just Great!

  • @canonanibas Get CS5 portable of you dont like trials...

  • Probably really am the 301st viewer

  • Thanks, I was wondering how to make a clipping mask visible when the layer beneath has an overlay before.

  • For clipping masks you can also just hold alt and click between the two layers.

  • Great video - you forgot to mention what is (to me) one of the most important features of clipping masks: In case of a text-layer (like in this video), you can keep editing the text.

  • I use clipping masks like crazy! I've never gotten into layer masks...

  • that was a big help!!

    thanks!!

  • Nice job!
