One way is that I was diagnosed with a supposedly incurable disease, MS...and while it's not totally gone in my opinion it feels extremely close. I couldn't even walk down the hallway to use the bathroom with out holding on to things on the way there for most of these months. I got saved and everything I was experiencing started getting fixed.

Well, my friend, if fact it is a good analogy- I surprised myself. They and their children can go there again if they show their sorry. Owner may test them to see if they changed their thinking. But they are angry with the owner. Their descendant are angry too, angry even despite of not knowing him. Since when eating apple is evil? - they thought. One way is that I was diagnosed with a supposedly incurable disease, MS...and while it's not totally gone in my opinion it feels extremely close. I couldn't even walk down the hallway to use the bathroom with out holding on to things on the way there for most of these months. I got saved and everything I was experiencing started getting fixed.

That was my point when I said "start of time" and "end of time" I implied some thing that never starts and never ends, "time". "god has ALWAYS bin here" makes EXACTLY as much sense as saying people have always bin here. You have no direct (you need some out of the box thinking for this) proof that people haven't always bin on earth, "since the start of time" you see fossils and stuff, but you where not there to see it happen. In the end EVERY thing we do is based on faith. I think therefor I am.

Beautiful video! Very well done technically and I think you VERY logically touched on the importance of experience in this endless dialogue.
Also, you can add how humans can't logically explain other things we take for granted every day... like the state of consciousness of others. "I think therefore I am" only proves the existence of the self, etc.

Great job playing the victim in this video, unfortunately the rest of us non-believers are constantly being victimized by your church of intolerance. You don't have to look any deeper than California's Prop. 8 to see that the church wants to legislate its beliefs on others.

I agree with you that discrimination can come from any direction, and I'm sure there are hateful people under any label. That being said, this particular case can be traced directly back to Christianity. It's easy to see why.....

The Mormon Church spent millions of dollars in California to get prop.8 passed.
I really don't care if gay people can or cannot get married. What I do care about is when someone is told they are different from the rest of society and are not entitled to something others have.
Imagine a 14 year girl or boy just realizing that they are gay. That has to be hard enough but then to have the state remind them that they will always be viewed as different and not part of "normal" society.

i try not to judge, unless its one of those wayy crazy religions that require u to kill urself or other people. i think the thing is everyone is looking for answers. why are we here? who are we? and what happens when we die. do we just live for this moment adn then we are gone>? does our essence live on? and ppl question if jesus is real. many different religions have their own version of jesus. odd right? i think he existed. i think ppl believed in this man who brought hope. but thats my view.

We all have fearful moments and some of us choose to embrace that fear and realize it's within our power to overcome it and benefit from that experience in which prepares us for future conflict or struggle. Others choose to give their strength away and hope or pray that an external entity will protect them and unfortunately will never realize the strength within themselves for they have allowed the fear to consume them. For that reason, I believe faith is a dangerous thing.

How can you prove God when you don't even know who he is? You cant prove the unknown. You have this feeling in you, but you don't know how to prove it. Thats becouse for some reason you did not even start with the bible. Yet, as a christian surely you can quote one rational verse from the bible that proves his existance. You did nothing, but talk about music, and same old dying for ones sins, and so on. How can a human begin have certainty in to something which is impossible, and irrational.

I think that it's true that at the end of the day, it doesn't matter. For people to believe is one thing, but I think it's more important that people show respect towards others. It's not only what people believe, it's how they live.

So Jack, then you should be willing to teach alternative ideas that motivate since there are many. Not everyone will get the same value from the same songs and stories as you do, and to present your storybook as real and the best one, especially to children, is harmfully ignorant. Thinking it is real is vastly different than accepting it as useful, and has shown to corrupt motivations in the wrong direction like creationism.

Of course there is power in myth and in stories. Why do you think every culture has its own literary and mythological tradition? And yes, the story of Jesus, which is essentially the story of the victory of suffering love and solidarity, is one of the most powerful stories in our history as a species. But you don't have to believe in the historicity or literal truth of a story to take from it the lessons, the hope, and the inspiration contained therein.

We've been through this before, Jack. The subjectivity of emotion has no bearing on the objectivity of its truth value. You're certainly passionate, and I respect that, but it has little to do with how true it all is.
We dont all demand 'proof'. Most reasonable sceptics just demand a justified, objective epistemological reason. Whether that be from science, history, philosophy, or whatever.
Me? I value truth, honesty, sagacity. They've done me more than good in my life and relationships.

It seems to me that religion is as much a part of human way of dealing with the world as are language, art, music, and so on, and we would be impoverished in a world envisioned by Dawkins, Hitchens, et al. To demand the same kind of truth from religion as we demand from science or history is simply misguided. We're not looking for facts, here, but for meaning, purpose and a sense of who we are.
