  • Brady, did you smell (one of) the books?

  • What's the song called?

  • I'd like to see Charles Darwin's house!

  • I think I just had a multiple nerdgasm... So cool!

  • A collection of the products of the most brilliant minds in the history of the world. Nice video.

Please don't touch those treasures with your bare hands please.

  • Great video. These books are true treasures. I'm surprised they're not in some kind of sterilized innert environment, and that gloves aren't required when handling them. Imagine seeing these books 500 years from now.

I particularly liked the Johannes Kepler book, "Harmonice mundi". The idea of representing the planets in a kind of musical notation is marvellous.

  • I can't believe how well preserved these books are! I have books that are in a way worse shape than these are.

  • way cool

  • 2 people are geocentrists.

  • 2 people are geocentrists.

  • Wow these books are awesome to see.

  • "Unique to Newton." That sounds so good!

  • Hearing her voice, I can't wait for new Dr. Who episodes.

  • This channel gets more interesting by the day giving a broad look into the science the current and past :) keep up the great work! and thank you for sharing

  • all I can say is WOW

  • Another enlightening video. Could you provide the title of the music in it? Thanks.

  • wow this is fascinating! thank you!

  • I just want 2 say that the first book was a transilation 4 arabic book that is 1 more evidince that the islamic ages shoulD never B called dark age and i hope that westren try find more about islam from ISLAMIC RESOURCES IAM SURE THAT YOU WILL BE AMAZED BY SCIENTIFC MIRICLES IN QURAN BEFOR 1432 YEARS bcoz not all wt u hear about islam is correct THANX..

  • @stooncol619 The advanced science and mathematics, and Greek and Roman histories written and saved by Arabian scholars, not by Mohammad, and there is no mathematic or scientific revelation in the Quoran. In modern times Muslims try to destroy science by attacking scientists and their free speech, both with rhetoric (like creationism) and even sometimes with violence.

Because of the attacks on science, most people know for a fact that Islam is a childish belief system from the dark ages.

  • @stooncol619

Yes, arabic, not islamic, let's not confuse the two. Pre-Islamic arabic cultures had great respect for scientific investigation. Sadly shut down by islamic clerics as blasphemous, equating investigation with challenging the supernatural order.

This propelled once great arabic cultures into a dark age; and without benefit of a reformation, a renaissance, an enlightenment - a dark age that still holds back the region to this day.

A quran is not "amazing", but Newton's Principia is.

  • Tears in my eyes.. the path of knowledge and understandig right in front of me..

  • The death mask of Newton reminds me of Robin Williams. :D

  • Awesome video. I love history of science.

  • 3:40, anyone tried to play that?

  • WEAR SOME BLOODY GLOVES THERE LADY

  • is it just me or are the s sounds really sharp?

  • @puretroubleman nah - was same for me too, but not overly noticable I thought.

  • @jeebersjumpincryst maybe it was strong for me because I was tired and wearing headphones.

  • This was a great vid, but ffs WHY IS SHE TOUCHING THOSE BOOKS WITH HER BARE HANDS!?? The residue on bare skin helps to degrade books, especially old books. Old books I've handled are only allowed to be handles with clean cotton gloves. This should be the order of the day for all old precious books.

  • Wait, you're just allowed to touch the books like that? I would have thought you'd at least have to wear gloves...

Also, those books are gorgeous. I wish I could have the chance to see them one day. You're a very lucky man, Brady.

  • @CrakenX turns out there are two schools of thought about handling books with gloves, and this librarian is from the bare hands school... must say I did feel very lucky being so close to those books... high geek rating!

Couldn't resist having a thumb through Copernicus (with permission of course!)

How great that they are public and not locked away in some private collection...

  • @CrakenX microbiologists don't use gloves either, you are naturally more careful and precise without gloves!

At least that's what I am told...

  • first to thumb up the second comment. Awesome vid btw! seems you're in full on production mode as of late, and its all good!

  • @jeebersjumpincryst yes there is lots going on!

  • a death mask? that's a bit morbid.

  • @defect530: Why? It the last memory, and in this case it lasted. It would seem death was treated a little more casually back then. The morbid part is that 44 of them were made and sold.

  • @defect530 perhaps... certainly shows that paintings of him were quite accurate... also makes me think he looked a bit like the actor Robin Williams!

  • books are so 1990's

  • @defect530: Well, if Google has their way, it'll all soon be on the net.
