What a wonderful tribute to a GREAT bear..I have been watching Tai since he was 5 mos. old, doesn't seem like it has been over 4 yrs. He has made everyone one of us smile and fall in love with him, he will always be in our hearts and minds. Hope we receive updates on him as he adjust to his new home and when he mates and adds to the panda population. Love you so much Tai Shan, you truly were to us a "Peaceful Mountain"

Wow that made me cry! Thanks for a beautifult tribute. I especially love the photos of Tai and keeper Brian. I wonder whatever happened to him? He and Tai seemed to have bonded. He is not mentioned as a keeper on the NZ website.

Brian is no longer employed by the National Zoo but I'm sure he has kept up with Tai. The bond they had could never be broken.

Thank you for this wonderful video. I've watched Tai Shan since the day he was born. I'm familiar with many of the pictures included in this video, many of them I haven't seen in a while, so as they come up, they bring a smile, a laugh, maybe a tear to my eyes, too.

I will be going to Bifengxia in early March and hope to see him then.

Indeed it is a heartbreaking video! It made me cry, we spend a lot of times watching Tai from birth through out his adult hood. Very, very sad to see him leave! Now DC is not the same without Tai! Indeed Tai had light up so many life! Good luck Tai! And God Bless you. You sure will me missed by so many. We love you Tai!

You are welcome, dear Jill! I don't have much info about Fu Long's recent condition. But it seems that he is rather shy for the time being and hides at the top of a tree most of the time. I hope that our Lucky Dragon will accustom him self to the new surroundings soon!

@laomaunkaew: It can't be helped. Every panda born has a crucial role to play towards the diversification of the genes pool of the limited panda population. And this is important to the critical task underway right now in China of propagating the panda species in order to save them from extinction. Tai Shan can't play a very useful role for the breeding program if he remains in the US. If we look at the big picture, we wdn't see it as unfair.

@Rapprochement123: sometimes life is not fair isn't it. China already got so many pandas, Tai was born here & he should stay here. Breeding program whatever China requires him back, but the USA can also have a breeding program too. Wish very much for China never take our darling Tai back.
