  • he would punch the wr before the ball got there he was a terrible corner, he wouldnt have done shit had he not grab & push the wr FAIL!

  • I think i just saw somebody get poped by Dick Night Train Lane. Oh he played real football not like today i still think college football is better becuase they don't get paid they have to make it to the big leauges so that why you see more energy but when Dick Night Train Lane played i felt like he made college look not serious! he rocks!!!!

  • Im only 11 and im on my brothers account in school Mr.Richard Lane told me about his father Dick Lane A.K.A MRR. DICK NIGHT TRAIN LANE. ALL ABOARD!!!! WE MISS YOU NIGHT TRAIN :)

  • how wasn't he number 1, he forced rule changes

  • I love night train but the int record has never been broken bc they keep changing the rules 2 help the offence nd the passing game

  • My favorite lion.

  • Lane was probably not the best DB I ever saw, Lem Barney was. Of course, I only saw Lane in the latter part of his career, so I didn't see him at his best. I do remember the defensive backfield of the Lions when Lane, Yale Lary, and Dick LeBeau played together (three Hall-of -Famers). That was just after Jack Christiansen and just before Lem Barney, two more Hall-of-Famers.

  • Best cornerback ever...case closed. How he came to play the game as a free agent is right up there with Unitas and Warner. Thats what pro football is about.

  • im a broncos fan and as far as im concerened nobody has had a better 2 years at cornerback than baileys 2 and 3 years in denver he was amazing had 18 picks in them 2 years despite guys not throwing at him a lot ithink he has slipped a bit the last 2 years but still elite as far as best all time i reckon rod woodson or green sanders was a great cover corner but wouldnt tackle so i dont rate him as a complete corner

  • Great video. Very inspiring. Do u have any videos on corners that show more techiniques in the game? Thanks

  • Wanted to say thanks to the person that put together this awesome video of my late father. Today, January 29, 2010 is the 8th anniversary of his death. This is very comforting and thank you!

    Richard Lane, II

  • Mr Lane, thanks for the comment. My philosophy is "play the rules, don't let the rules play you" and Night Train was exactly that. On occasion I still turn on the video for inspiration. I'm honored to receive your blessing of the video.

    Coach Mark

  • Imagine being a receiver and being told to go down the middle and knowing Night Train is going to rip your head off. That's gotta be intimidating.

Night Train was definately on of the original 'hatchet men' of the NFL.

  • top 3 corners in nfl history: 1. charles woodson 2.charles woodson 3.charles woodson

  • @mjfanz23, that's funny. Especially since Charles Woodson is the third best DB in history with the last name Woodson.

  • Deion Sanders is the best ever

  • Deon covers but he did'nt tackle avioded contact..Night train covered and hit.

  • only shutdown corner in football history with deion sanders...

  • and nnamdi asowagh

  • See the QB. I'll remember that.

  • guys hes not a good hitter imagine if people like ed reed and brian dawkins could grab facemasks... seriously..

  • ed reed is not a great tackler......

  • Ok, Polamalu or Adrian Wilson....

  • Polamalu no doubt, he hits like a LB and covers like a CB.

  • I agree. If you can have 14 interceptions in a single season and the record still stands, he's the best. I would say if any one could come close to his record would be Nnamdi Asomugha, even though nobody throws his way. But I would love to have seen this guy play. He is also considered in my opinion to be the hardest hitter.

  • Lester Hayes had 13 in 1980 (then he had 4 more in the playoffs)...he got really close.

  • DIck did it in 12 games....

  • Even if they did throw at him Asomugha wouldn't do it.

And you're so wrong about the single season interception mark. One record doesn't define a career. Especially since he did it as a rookie... His technique was great and he was a feared tackler BUT, HE DID IT AGAINST GUYS WHO LOOKED LIKE BARTENDERS!

  • wow after watchin' the whole vid, I will say he was one hell of a big hitter...yet again, I don't think it would be much in today's game...but very impressive for it's time...I'm more of a wrapup CB myself, you gotta be aggresive, but make sure you always make the tackle...

  • I respect great players for what they were in their day but cmon'.....you really think these corners could hang with Deion Sanders and Champ Bailey.... no way, I'm sorry but today's game is SO much better and harder and faster than the game used to be, just look at old 40 times...D lineman in today's game run faster than the Corners back then did...and I do like the FTP stance...Champ uses it, but it's actually called 4D technique...good vid tho..and props to Night Train

  • Considering the different rules, the ol' timers have a bigger advantage concerning intimidation. Can you imagine a modern receiver absorbing those kinds of hits for prolonged periods?

As good in cover as Sanders was he couldn't hit worth shit.

  • Jp28hc....That's why I give the Best corner of all time to Champ...He's just unreal at corner, and this is comin' from someone who has all the bronco games from 04 to 07 and I'm not bein' a homer trust me...I'm just amazed at how good he is...

  • champ gets destroyed by receivers.... he's like a homerun hitter, sometimes he gets its all other times he strikesout....

  • Stats don't lie man...Bailey has been the best corner to ever play the game, and every1 gets burned at least a few times in their career....him and Primetime are the top 2 corners of all time

  • Yeah, I agree but I have to add Mike Haynes and Darrel Green in that group. They were GREAT corners. It is the toughest position physically to play in FB and the athletic ability that these guys have is amazing.

  • I'm sure that Deion would do fine against the players that look like a mailman.... the receivers and running backs then didnt have the strength and agility of the ones today....

  • Coach Mark you definitely should coach a pro NFL team

Your knowledge of the Defensive Back positions is second to none

  • im really thinking about playing that way... im trying the drills.. is it coming any other video?? i'm waiting for them

    cheers!

  • this some interesting stuff your pointing out i will have to try to put it to work

  • Really great stuff as always coach. Keep on doing what you're doing. You're setting up kids to succeed as they move forward in their athletic careers.
