  • What was her outcome and what did you do?? My son is doing this and he is very aware. He told me he wants to go somewhere to stop he also tells me each night how much his eyes hurt from doing this.. it breaks my heart. I don't know much about utube (when googled his eye rolling) I found this clip could you please email me back. K_charzewski@yahoo.com I just don't know where to start.. Thanks so much!

  • @kerriandray begin by making an appt. with your childs pediatrician. You will probably be referred to a pediatric neurologist.

  • i know someone who had seizures and everytime they did, their eyes would do this.

  • my daughter started showing these tics just a week ago, we tried to ignore it-hoping it will disappear itself b ut didnot yet. I was searching on the net and foun your video. When I ask why she is doing it, she says exactly the same things `my brain tells me to do it or my body wants to do it. I am too scared, she does the eye rolling, throat clearing and sometimes shrugging one shoulder, do you think it will go away itself or not? and does anyone know what causes this?

    Many thanks,

  • it is tourettes.my 9 year old Joy has just been diagnosed, and to see your daughter is just like looking at mine.Joy started at 5 with a slight head shake, saying it was her fringe in her eyes.she moved up to what Camryn is doing, then her vocal tics started.she does cough and snoff noises and over the years she now makes a mewl.for years i tried to get her diagnosed being told it was just "tics".tics go away after 12 months .

  • well if she knows she is doing it and says he body makes her thats most likely tourettes

  • what are pandas?

  • @greenabbey12 PANDAS stands for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcus. Basically, it means that when the body's defenses are trying to attack the Streptococcal bacteria causing a sore throat, there is some degree of mistaken identity and it also attacks some parts of the brain.

We now know she has Tourette Syndrome.

    Many thanks,

  • It looks a lot like tourettes. Also, it looks exactly like the tics I have. I roll my eyes up in my head while blinking excessively. Sometimes I shrug my right shoulder too. I'm in my 20's and have developed different tics ever since I was 10 (at which time I had come off my medication that had controlled my seizures since the age of 3 1/2). By the way, she is adorable! Good luck with everything. Hope everything is going well.

  • Hi, my five year old son started having facial tics in late Feb. I have had him tested for many things, and recently, his ANtiDNAse- B teter came back positive ( strep). His original throat test came back negative. We are investigating PANDAS. He did not ever have a sore throat, but has had in his system. Please keep posting your findings!

  • Does she realize that she is doing this? I didn't know if she is uncomfortable when this happens. Maybe the Dr. will give her some kind of medicine that can help her? She is so pretty!

  • @amysarahh Yes, she does know she is doing it. She says, "my body makes me" and "I have too." One day after being stuck on a word she said, "it's like I am sneezing words." I am sure that moving her eyes like through out the day is uncomfortable. As far as medication, the side effects are probably worse than dealing with the tics.

  • My son (4yrs) just started doing this out of the blue this week. Not just like this, but exactly the same thing your daughter is doing, without doing the shoulder thing you described. His is all just the forehead, eye brows, and the eyes. There were no signs that lead up to it. He has an EEG appointment this comming week. If you get any results from your tests please post and i will keep you up to date as to what our ped says. I hope all goes well with your little one.

  • My daughter (7) is having tics too. Your daughter's video looks like tics. I just posted a video of my daughter. She's been having vocal & motor tics for 2 yrs. The doc we took her to said she was doing it for attention!! needless to say, we are taking her to a neuro who specializes in movement disorders like tourettes. good luck!

  • @MsSharebear5 She saw a neuro and her eeg was normal. She tics while sleeping and has vocal tics. Dr. says there is still a chance it is transient. I would recommend that you find a new/better Dr. and take a video of your daughter with you. I seriously doubt a child would be able to sustain abnormal movement for 2 years for attention.

  • I hope you guys get answers soon. My honest guess would be tourettes because it looks like a 'typical' tic for that. I would say probably no to the petit mal (absence) seizure because she can still continue normal movement even when she is rolling her eyes and during an absence you just stop everything and go blank . Is she aware of the fact she's doing it or unaware?

  • @Gretchenfan76 Yes, I (as a mom) think it is probably Tourettes.....based on what I have witnessed from her, read and viewed. Her pedi thinks other options need to be explored and set up testing and an appt. with a specialist. Pedi says seizures can be so quick they appear to be something else. I am guessing it is routine to rule seizures out before making a Tourettes diagnoses?

  • @nonconformistwoman I'm not sure if it's routine to check for seizures in tourettes, but I;'m sure with how many of the tics are that it's done pretty often.. Alot of the tics can look like absence seizures or myoclonic seiuzres.. I myself don't have tourettes, but I do have seizures.. I hope everything goes well for you guys, praying!!
