  • i love this episode. It literally is my favourite episode of doctor who EVER!

  • I dunno, I always thought the Nimon were a cool idea for a monster even if the costumes and acting sucked. Apparently I'm not the only one, since the Nimon got a mention in last weeks episode (The God Complex).

  • Great video! Thanks for sharing!

  • I really need to watch this one again. The first time, I didn't use any alcohol.

    "Lord Niiiiiiiiimon!"

  • If only the younger modern "Who" fans would watch the best stories of Tom Baker's era. They would easily forget about everything that came afterwards! That is if visual style and special effects haven't spoiled them. One can only hope that these kiddies will discover "Genesis Of The Daleks". Doesn't get any better than that when it comes to "Who"!

  • ROFLMAO!!! The story so bad it's almost good! Although I agree, 'twas a great story for Romana :~D

  • @BinroWasRight It is an absolutely brilliant Dr WHO story. One of the best ever. Pure Douglas Adams inspired madness. Over the top acting and great comedy value. Genius

  • This story just shows that you can have a great mix of death, imposing aliens, some sharp dialogue, a bit of comedy and all of this without farting aliens.

  • I was 6 when this was televised. "Mercy Lord Nimon!" was something my dad used to say to for years thereafter!

  • "Despicable worm!" Oh Romana... ^_^

If I hadn't already adored her beyond all reason by that point, this serial would have sold me cold....

  • 'You meddlesome hussy"!!!! Horns Of Nimon is amazing. One of my of 10 DW stories of all time. The Nimons are fantastic. Their voices are amazing too... they growl - and then they talk overt he growl!! How do they do that? They're aliens I suppose...

  • "It is I... Soldeed." = ) That guy was the best actor EVER.

Not to mention that Tom hugging K-9 was the best. You know, this was the first episode I ever saw of Doctor Who as a kid... Which explains why I didn't become a fan for a few years after that. = ) But I love Nimon now. = )

  • Lessons from Leeson. "Leeson's come back" Malcomn in the middle(literally).

Lalla is a Lilie. Crowden plays "no man" best. Should call her Rowena, I assume to mean "running enigma". Like Noella North in "Prince Vallient".

  • If some people would be honest they would admit to loving this entire season. Douglas Adams was a genius and this was some of the best Dr Who ever. Shame Shada never made it. People who laugh at this are probably telling us Love and Monsters is good. Nimon IS genius.

  • dump the doo doo and your Tardis will manuver it's "hampster" engine to the max!

    "Lets play cricket!!!"

  • aye! sexxy angular sets and tri-angled everything. awe "planet Darp a cool name" summm! and Lalla. my mother's "gifted" class had some of that print sheet that looked like that wallpaper of theres. Jim Crowden looks like he fits in on Planet Skonos. June Hudsen likes the jagggies. She was the true "meddlsome hussie".

  • I loved how Soldeed said "Nimon be praised!" while doing "Jazz hands"! Then he called Romana a meddlesome hussy! The Tom Baker episodes were so cool!

  • Weakling scum!!

  • I really, really want to see this now.

  • Mmmmmmmm Simon Gipps-Kent !

    My first gay-crush.

  • Look this is Doctor who at it's preverse best. It is much better than some of the rubbish passing for Doctor Who nowadays. It is funny and badly made but the heart of the thing is wonderful. Ignore the production values, it doesn't matter.

  • >It is much better than some of the rubbish passing for Doctor Who nowadays>

    Deluded, deluded man.

TRUE DW fans can enjoy the old and the new, thanks for showing your alleigence is to the old ya phony

  • @Casablinker it's also much better than most of Doctor Who that came immediately after when JNT took over and led the show to ruin..

  • @sadako24 While I am no huge fan of the JNT time, it is still a damn sight more like Dr Who than the New Series with all it's camp nonsense and poor plot lines. I can count on one hand the good modern stories, JNT at least gave us Kinda, The Visitation, Earthshock, Snakedance, 5 Doctors, The Awakening, Androzani, Varos, Revelation of the Daleks. Ghostlight and Fenric. Now all we've had is one outstanding story a season if that because the last season was tripe. Forget TimeFlight and Timelash.

  • @Casablinker So true, it is an amazing story. The new series is dire.

  • Those Nimon PLATFORM BOOTS were made for STOMPING!! HA!

  • Nicely done, and without spoiling the story. Heard rumour that this may be coming out in a DVD box set soon...

  • Ive always liked this story and now i love it even more but the nimon look a bit top heavy

  • You didn't put in Soldeed's "You will die for your interfer-uh-huh-rence!"

  • Best story of this season was Destiny of the Daleks. Imo.

  • Lord Niiiiiiiiiimon!

  • Watched the original on video the other day and you've summed it up five star nicely. It's reported that Tom Baker thought companions were unnecesary and gave some quite a hard time - I hope he's grateful to Lalla Ward for proving exactly why even a classic Doctor sometimes needs them.

  • Great video! My favourite part of this story is when Tom. B realises the TARDIS is about to be hit by a meteorite so he pins a rosette which says "Best Dog!" to K9!

  • Whilst we're on the subject of this story, why do all the Anethans wear yellow pyjamas? I mean, is it a uniform? Are they togas? Is it just the fashion on Aneth? Where the Anethans just all on their way to a giant intergalactic pyjama party before they got kidnapped?

    If anyone knows, please comment!

  • Great stuff. Nicely put together.

  • Any chance of this story being put on Youtube fully.

  • thier returning in planet of the dead

  • No.

  • This is incredible! Haha well done. You did miss out THE pinacle of OTT acting though:

    "Threeeeee! I.... saw...... Threeeeeeeeeeee!"

  • This Serial is so bad it's good!

  • OH GOD. This is brilliant. So much love. Nimon=awesome.

  • Funny if some person put Waiting for God Horns of Crowden.

  • "Well people often don't know what you're talking about."

    HA!

  • This was the very first Who I could remember... watched it on VHS till threadbare... and never noticed the rip in that guys pants

  • Nimon are great, but they are bull compared to the War Machines!

  • Yeah, the War Machines kicked serious ass!

  • Oh thank god John Nathen-Turner came along as Producer after this, what a hularious unabashed party

  • @LightningT5 Nathan Turner was an idiot, this is one of the best DW stories ever. Graham Crowden is amazing. Nerdy SF fans never had a decent sense of humour

  • @chrisnoaro1 I really don't agree with you one bit, JNT was a better producer than Graham Williams, when you consider Graham never had all the blackmail JNT got to stay on as a producer as the BBC coulden't be asked to find a replacent, and look at some of the stuff he inputted into the series, you'll find he wasen't such an idiot after all,

  • @LightningT5 Well it's ll subjective isn't it. I can watch the stories Graham Williams produced over and over and over again. But the JNT era - what a drag and a bore - especially Season 18! But I'm glad you get something out of it. You say look at some of the stuff he introduced - unfotunately all the stuff he introduced I hated! What about those pathetic question marks!

  • @chrisnoaro1, the lack of humor, witty dialogue, and intriguing stories is what annoys me about the JNT era and modern "Who". Many "Who" fans criticize the Graham Williams era because it's over the top and there's a lot of humor but that's why I enjoy it so. I can watch these stories over and over. So many memorable scenes and awesome dialogue. I think the Gothic Hinchcliffe era is the absolute best in "Who" history but there is so much richness and charm to the Graham Williams era.

  • lol funny never sor his pants befor now i did

  • The Horns of Nimon is a classic.

    Great work.

  • God every time I see Romana, I keep thinking of Susan from Coupling...

  • Nimon's costume was cool but the mask...

  • Lalla Ward is an excellent screamer!

  • Ha! Can't wait until I get round to watching this

  • Well done :)

  • It's so bad, it's good !

    70's child-star Simon Gipps-Kent ( Seth),

    was soooooooo cute

  • Have to agree but as a Romana fan I liked it. She is the focus of the story as the Athena

  • I just have to say, this video is HYSTERICAL. I actually did like Horns of Nimon, but it is achingly awful.

  • Tom Baker's later era had its share of, errr, dodgy moments. Remember "Creature From The Pit"? "Power Of Kroll"? But I'll take good timin' Tom and his $1.98 effects budget over anything the new fancy-pants CGI spectacle on Sci-fi Schnnel has to offer. You can up the budget all you like, but you can't BUY charisma like Tom and Lalla had.

  • Quite true. I think it is a general problem with cinema today that they end up eclipsing good characters and dialog with too much emphasis on style and special effects.

  • BEST. EPISODE. EVER.

  • SOLDEED LIVES!

  • I've got this one on tape, a definite so-bad-it's-good story. Good celebration!

  • Tears of laughter.
