I often get confused because I have learnt some Hindi my self, but then it seems 50% of those Hindi words are the same as in Urdu (like in Pakistan) But then sometimes I have been taught Urdu words, and I think that they are actually Hindi, until some one corrects me. The Urdu is understood in most Hindi areas, and I guess visa versa. The only massive difference is the lettering!

I've always heard from our Indian neighbours here that they say Jai Hind and Vande Mataram but Zindabad is a Persian word and always goes with Pakistan zindabad. As I can hear on this site the slogan is now being used by Indians as Hindustan Jindabad.

I often get confused because I have learnt some Hindi my self, but then it seems 50% of those Hindi words are the same as in Urdu (like in Pakistan) But then sometimes I have been taught Urdu words, and I think that they are actually Hindi, until some one corrects me. The Urdu is understood in most Hindi areas, and I guess visa versa. The only massive difference is the lettering!

It's interesting to see things from the Indian side. Ididn't know that Indians use some of the same slogans as the Pakistanis but pronounce it differently. I've always heard from our Indian neighbours here that they say Jai Hind and Vande Mataram but Zindabad is a Persian word and always goes with Pakistan zindabad. As I can hear on this site the slogan is now being used by Indians as Hindustan Jindabad.
