  • This is one "long" video. =p

  • viva la tom

  • Une victime du dopage =/

Des si bon coureurs bouffer par cette merde

  • to 222mozart:

Educate yourself about the history, put yourself in someone else's shoes before passing judgment. "Let he who is without sin...."

    unreceivedogma

PS: I just finished the 2009 L'Etape du Tour: Montelimar to the summit of Ventoux.

  • @unreceivedogmas le tour

  • qué pena......Simpson solia decir que si con 10 pastillas te mueres que él tomaba 9

  • I live about 1km from his home...I pass almost every day before his home and keep remembering it every day !

  • very emotive name, reminds me of being a schoolboy

  • Which music is this?Title, composer?

    Thank you

  • hi, i don't know. I got the movie clip some years ago as AVI (or mpg) with the music included.

  • The requiem D-moll KV 626 of Mozart his last composition in the death´s bed.

  • @fcbhh

    mozart, requiem

  • @fcbhh

The very last clip of music is part of the Mozart's Requiem, but as to the first piece I do not know.

  • listen you guys. if you are really cyclists think about doping and who is involved. Is L.A? what about Campionissimo? Who do you respect? Who do you dream about when you ride?

  • Different times I still respect Tom Simpson, he was honest

  • stimolants...and he died for heart attack...

  • Simpson was honest ??

    what please ????

  • what a great rider he was i ride the ventoux evry year and i always stop 1 minute at the memorial point and think about life.

  • you are a more more great rider then he.

you reached the mv without doping, without deceiving, without dying.

  • doesnt matter i still have great respect for him and all cyclers doped or not.

  • i have noooo respect for doped cyclists.they are deceivers.

    (i very do love cyclism)

  • @222mozart If you do love cycling that much, than you should know that doping (with all possible and unpossible stuff) was the culture. EVERYONE was doped in the Tour de France by this time. And deaths like this wasn't that very rare. What was rare with this footage was that this was probably the first time that it was broadcasted live on TV.

So don't judge Tom Simpson for being just as everybody else. Judge the whole culture in that case.

  • @olssonII

    yes, I do this... !

  • @olssonII ehm to be fair you're the one who looks not to know much of cycling : by writing that everyone was doped in the 1960s cycling , you spell out a nonsensed and totally false statement , better a typical clueless

    bs anglosaxon style !!

It's just the opposite : since NONE or at least very few were getting doped in the 1960s ( an era in which

everything about cycling was so much better & cleaner ) , the case of doping assumption by Simpson

  • ( assumption of amphetamines , a candy compared to what they keep on taking since end of 1980s ...) heppened just 'cos doping didn't exist those years and nobody could teach Simpson which way to take amphetamines 'cos nobody knew it . In addtion, that case was so eclatant just because was the first ever and in such a visible way , so since that day doping and amphetamines started on been known and banned from cycling .

At last I have to add that doping is a peculiar and very practiced

  • activity of many speaking English countries ( expecially USA, but not only ) : cycling really stopped to be a great fair very very tough sport when US dopped faggots and shameless liars started on ruining it with all their massive endless indiscriminate doping ( just think at Epons Armstrong King of doped cheaters and farcical clowns ) , before they came into cycling just to dirt one of most beautiful sports everything was enough fine ( not very good or perfect, just fine ) .

  • But I have to say that behind Spain , the dirtiest & biggest cheating nation in last 12 years of sports doping , also the UK have started on doing their own : just think at the incredible , shamefull, superdirty ( fake ) golds stolen in Cycling track on Bejing '08 ( just a little advice of what's gonna happen with them on London 2012 ...) or at that bunch of doped cunts , but I should say that scandal of cycling team , that is the Team SKY UK Pro Cycling ( bradley wiggins , brian holm )

  • I also went to mont ventoux and was totally in awe of this great man RIP tommy

  • doping doping doping

    self murderer

  • read the story behind simpson, you'll understand...

  • i know the stories of (almost) all of these self murderers.

there also helped to destroy sports.

  • true...but hipocrits not want admit this thing...stupid silly hipocrits

  • HARWORTH LEGEND!!!!!

  • HARWORTH LEGEND!!!!!!!!

  • Tom was a great man who will never be forgotten by his family, we are proud of him.

  • what a tryer. shame none of r british riders show the same passion 2 day.he cud of one a tdf.

  • historia triste, triste final

  • I went to Mont Ventoux last week to pay my respects , I did not understand how close he was to the peak he was only about 100 or so meters from tha top , Mr Simpson R.I.P

  • What a shame... he will never be forgotten.

    Tom Simpson 1937-1967

  • The post mortem found that he had taken amphetamines and alcohol, a diuretic combination which proved fatal when combined with the hot conditions that day.

As sad as this is, it still goes on.

  • at least 40 years of doping

  • Today, 40 years ago, I think it's there is an important lesson to be learned from this. In combination with heat dope can be fatal.

  • They put him back on the bike and even though he's collapsed over the bars HE STILL TRIES TO PEDAL!!!

    Legend!

  • historia triste, historia histórica

  • RIP

    Never forgotten!

  • wish someone could finde some more and perhaps more detailled vids. about his death.

    R I P

  • holy shit I never knew their was actual footage. Grew up hearing about this...

  • Well, that was a pretty silly way to go.

  • I never met him - but he lived 1 kilometer from my home in Belgium - I see his house at least 1 time a week and I always have to think about this tragedy !

  • harworth legend

  • drugs, think twice

  • shame really but it goes to show wot winning meaans to sum people, he dies with the pride of his country and its reputation. RIP

  • incredibley sad and tragic...i remember a documentry on it 'death on a mountain' it was very emotional

  • A BAD day for everyone ! A legend - R I P

  • Saw Tom race at Fallofield track in Manchester (England). He was an inspiration during my cycling "career" - but this day changed everything - hey, Tom, was winning REALLY that important??

    Don't take drugs.

  • sad sad sad...

  • That is history!
