Unreal footage and thank you so much for sharing. I read this book in the 80s when I was around 13 and I loved it. Once saw a picture of the Pike in a local paper when it was announced that the movie had been pulled. This footage is gold.
I'm afraid it wasn't made into a film because the press mocked it. However, we hadn't had chance to test it out in the water first so anything could go wrong on the press day, and it did. It was to be called, quite simply, 'The Pike.' I was the artist who worked on the outer shell and its general appearance. It even had a rib cage to enable it to flip it's tail from side to side. The year was 1982.
I thoroughly enjoyed working on this monster. It was six months hard labour but wouldn't have missed it for the world. Nice to see all my old friends again at Ulvatech. I will truly miss Cliff. What an amiable man he was.
Linda Lou Allen was a stunningly beautiful woman. Thanks for a rare glimpse of her.

when Joan says she wouldn't like to be in the water with him, and it's enormous, how long is it? Is she talking about the pike or Cliff?

I have to say, that pike reminds me very much of the huge, artificia lfish Gary and Tony stole in the last series of "MEN BEHAVING BADLY" !
