  • this is why hilery and obama ran to pull votes a split so mr kucinich didnt have a chance....

  • This guy is smart. Hes plan is sound. He has learned from other countries

  • I will never be proud of my country until vile, devout Christians are forced to pay for the medical treatment of underprivileged people in the porn industry. Pass Health Care Now For Social Justice! Think of the poor, hungry gonzo porn actors and actresses who suffer from innumerable ailments, yet are told to pay for their own health care by their greedy insurers who have coldly argued their illnesses are business-related, citing their coprophagy videos as proof.

  • Yeah, you are right. Society would fall apart without one day of pornography. Without universal health care there would be anarchy! How can we ever live without our pharmaceutical drugs. A vote for health care reform is a vote to keep women as the subjugated, dick-sucking animals that they are. Go Healthcare reform!!!

  • @Quiksilver209 ? do tell

  • (CBC News, Canada) Feb 2, 2010 -Canadian Province Premier Danny Williams is set to undergo heart surgery this week in the United States ...

  • Health care is not a birthright..

Kill the 3000 pg Ilegal TAX & JAIL Trojan Horse Mandate Bill nobody wants..

    Kill the bill..

    Vote em out..

    nobody wants it..

  • @hadenufnow

You are incoreect. Some people want the healthcare bill. You make it sound that 100% of Americans are opposed to the bill. In reality it is closer to 48/52.

So don't think that a landslide majority is apparent. It isn't. In actuallty, it is closer to 50/50 for and against. It is still a very divided issue.

In this right, I'm interested in actual statistics--not opinions.

When you use the term 'nobody' you act very subjective. Subjectivity has nothing to do with it.

  • forget about your political status! our econmomy is dead... We need to evolve. We as Americans left right whatever are living in a Democracy I thought?.Why can't we as a people be able to VOTE for universal health care?? Fuck the stock holders and banks that love to collect on unpaid overwhelming medical bills. Health care should be a RIGHT as an American! call your congress!

  • poon: Unfortunately for socialists who WANT it to be a right, it isn't one.

Free food is not a right, free housing is not a right, free clothing is not a right, and neither is free health care.

  • ya but they live in Europe...shutter...

  • Yes, I fully support HR676; it is the only eqitable, fair, efficient system, and is the one with the least paperwork, bureacracy, and otherwise; it involves the government being the PAYER, while the delivery will still be through private hospitals, doctors. The big health insurance corporations are currently CONTROLLING the health care system in order to bankrupt, kill, and frustrate sick people in order to make money. The government at least is accountable via democracy; corporations aren't.

  • vwlf: The Government does not do the least amount of paperwork. You obviously know nothing of the US Government.

Kucinich says we need to convert all assets of health care to not for profit. To do so means that every piece of equipment has to be aquired, inventoried, bar coded, and accouted for. The paperwork that will create alone is mind boggling. Then you have to make rules for maintenance, aquisition, and disposal of the equipment. That alone should kill a forrest of trees to print.

  • Yes, Single Payer HR676 does involve the least amount of paperwork, while the corporate, private system is filled with bureacracy; the private insurance corporations have death panels and exist to deny people healthcare who have paid their monthly fees. And no, Kuchinich is talking about HR676, where there is a private delivery of healthcare, but a public distribution; the government will not profit off of being the middle man, but private hospitals etc will still be private.

  • vwlf: The Government does not do "Least amount of paperwork". What part of the inventory process I explained eludes you? They have to convert over the assets, they have to bar code them, and inventory them, they have to make new rules for aquisition, maintanance, and disposal of the equipment. That paperwork alone will be far more than any done right now. The surface paperwork to get care may actually decrease, but extra paperwork in the background that you won't see will be increased.

  • (cont) The Government includes hidden costs you nevcer see. Quality management, EEO, CFC, Labor reporting, and HR all add costs not directly associated with any given project or program. Do you know how many GS-15's there are in the EEO department of any one agency? How many 14's. 13's, and 12's work on CFC every year raising money for things like both sides of abortion? How much time is spent reporting labor stats for each Employee?

The Government does not do efficient or cost effective.

  • No, single-payer HR676 does not involve the transfer of any assets, but simply expanding/modifying medicare into a system where everyone is covered, including dental/mental health benefits. You are the one who doesn't fucking get it; there will be no disposal of transfer or equipment, the government would just be paying the doctors instead of the patients paying them. The private corporations make money off of killing people by denying care; I'll take the democratically elected gov any day.

  • vwlf: If you think HR 676 does not include transfer of assets, then you do not know his plan at all.

You need to do some research before you speak. Look up HR 676 and read it.

  • This crap bill is nothing but a government take over of the health care system. They plan to under cut the private insurance companies forcing them out of business. Creating a "public option" under which most businesses will drop their health care and tell their employees to get on the public option. Once accomplished. They'll claim they didn't expect most people to get on the government option and they must raise taxes to support it. Eventually culminating in an national sales tax and rationing

  • Just expand Medicare to all! Democrats control the White House and both houses in congress. Now do what we elected you for.

    Push through Medicare for all!

  • Kucinich mentions paying $400 per month for healthcare. When I was laid off last November, Cobra was $425 per month. That doesn't cover deductibles, copays, prescriptions, etc.

  • Communist! you and your supporters should move to Cuba, they don't allow for corp. profits either! Fool, check out history, evil profit motive is what has given us nealy all of our medical innovations, FOOL!

  • So strange, becuse you know. We knever had any evil profit and we still part leading world medical science. So very strange, its funny that Cuba do have better healthcare then the US. Wy just skip these problems, take 30cent from tank production and put in health care and these problems are gone. Frankly, america is getting backwards.

  • All this talk of health care makes me sick. Why not remove those insurances and special interest groups in the way of getting our universal health care.

  • hubb: Yeah, Why not remove the military and Congress? Why not just make Obama King? We could establish a dictatorship, and rule by force and make everyone work for the Government. Why not remove the Constitution while we are at it?

You know there is a book by Karl Marx that sounds really good...

(This was sarcasm in case you did not know...)

  • Why are you speechless lesliegilda?

  • Kucinich is pretty awesome. He's from my home state, Ohio. And he speaks truth. And you know what? That's exactly why he can't be President. True health care reform is yet again in trouble, and because of the very things Kucinich is talking about here. Damn the bloated, greedy corporate bigwigs. Damn them for their lies. Damn them for their corruption. We Progressives have to wake up fast and get as loud and obnoxious as the Right. They give us no other choice.

  • There is no such thing as universal healthcare.

  • There is such a thing as universal healthcare, the rest of the 1st world has it.

  • @Iknowmorethanu2

Rationed healthcare maybe, but not universal. That's the problem, people with insurance think that rationed healthcare would be better. They haven't a clue of the consequences. Obama does and thats why he delayed the enactment until after his next election. uuhhmmm strange

  • Socialism is EVIL! Gimme a break!. How dumb can you be. But if Socialist states are evil so is the entire Europe. The U.S. needs UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE! Freedom of choice? The insurance companies chooses its candidates. There those people with insurance coverages who still die because they are being denied costly operations. Being social and living is a social state is the best thing of HUMANITY, it is out obligation to help the people in need.

  • Yes, I agree; what the European states have is a good quality of life; universal healthcare, free college education, guaranteed/diverse housing, well-paying jobs with benefits...but oh, it's so evil!

  • vwlf: You have obviously not been to Europe. In Scandinavian countries, people work all day to keep pennies of each dollar they work for, and they can afford very little of anything to enjoy their life.

  • No, in Scandinavia people have shorter work weeks than we do, they all make living wages, have excellent benefits and 8+ weeks of paid vacation, in addition to free healthcare, free college education, guaranteed mixed housing, better energy policies...a better quality of life, therefore, for most people. Obviously you're a rich bitch fatcat if you think US gives a better quality of life, or you are just deluded. European travelers have a wide range of opinions and political perspectives.

  • vwlf: I am no "rich fat cat". I grew up very poor and worked for everything I ever got. I am now doing better, but by no means am I rich.

You do not know the first thing about me, about Government or about what socialism will dop to this country. We are on the brink of total fiscal melt down when Baby Boomers reach retirement.

Look up David Walker (Former comptroller general of the USA) on Youtube. He explains in great detail.

  • I guess you think when I was 5 and my parents couldn't take me to a dentist or doctor when I was sick because they had neither money nor private insurance, I should have just "worked" for the medical care. I guess it was all my fault, huh? But no, thankfully we have reliable data on Scandinavian social welfare states (which are not socialism--they still have a free market in consumer goods) do, which is provide the best quality of life in the world, and more personal freedom than the US does.

  • vwlf: Where is the "data"?

  • The data is this:

US pays 16% GDP on health (half from government, half from individuals)

1/5th uninsured, live 3 years shorter,

UK pays 8% GDP on health (all from government) 100% coverage for all services (except dental, unless you are unemployed a student or disabled). Live 3 years longer.

I just cant see how the argument for private healthcare can continue.

  • arkg: Data is this..The U.S. Government does not do ANYTHING for less money, or more efficiently. EVER.

If you like the UK so much, go there and stay there.

  • Ok

Well im english, so yes I will stay here in the knowledge that if one day I get cancer I dont have the extra worry of bills.

Land of the gree my arse

  • arkg: Goody for you. You do that and leave the United States health care issue to Americans who will have to live with it.

I do not know why all these foreign bastards think they have some right to tell Americans what to do with our health plans. You will not have to live with the consequences, we will. Our goverment is not like yours, and yours is not perfect, so worry about your own Government's failures and we will worry about ours.

  • calm down

I live in a nation whose healthcare is cheaper and better.. therefore I just want to spread the workd that there is an alternative to dying in the streets just because you are unlucky enough to be poor.

I have the right to criticise any aspect of your country.,.,

In fact I am in fact an american citizen born abroad. Why are you so offended?

The reason I speak is because it saddens me to see how some people are ismply left to die because thye cant pay to cure themselves.

  • arkg: No one is dying in the streets. Anyone can go to the ER and get care...ANYONE...including illegals.

I am offended by your ignorance and your willingness to buy into the idea that people are actually dying in the streets (Which they are not), which proves you know nothing about what goes on here.

  • arkg: No one here is unlucky. Everyone has the chance to lift themselves from poverty. I started out poor and worked my way to financial independence. I am proof that anyone can do it, all they have to do is want it, and make the effort.

If you make people dependent on Government and you create a permanent underclass like in New Orleans. Ask them how well dependency has worked for them.

  • ok not fying in the streets, an exageratoin.. but dying of easily preventable diseases due to being poor.

Im glad you were lucky enough to get out of poverty... so now you should pay so others get the same oppourtunity.

Poverty is something that can be eradicated with the right politival will. It is not an inevitable part of society

  • arkg: You exaggerations destroy your credibility.

I am not "LUCKY". I worked my ass off, and so can anyone else. I did not work so hard to pay for someone else to NOT to work as hard as I did, and still get the same things that I sacrificed for. I went to college full time while working full time to support myself and pay my way. I gave several years of my life to no sleep and hard work. I do not owe anyone anything, and I resent slugs like you telling me what I NEED to do with my money.

  • a slug lime me?

You dont know me or anything about me?

I could be a 20 hour a day worker, or unemployed.. you just dont know, so dont go throwing assumptions around.

I believe in the way I do, because the evidence through history shows us what polittical systems work, and what work less well. Your advocating (I assume) low taxes, so less money for education, army, police. You want healthcare to be private. You want low taxes for businesees and individuals, and less gov regulation?

  • arkg: I am not assuming anything. You have told me all I need to know about you.

You think "I" should pay your way out of poverty, because you think I am somehow "Lucky" to have worked hard and done well for myself. You are too lazy to do things for yourself, so you expect others to do your work for you.

There is no way in hell that you work 20 hours a day. You probably don't even have a job.

BTW: JFK believed in lower taxes, beause they produce more jobs and more revenues.

  • If u really want to know, I work 20hrs as a admin officer in a health centre, as well as studying a medical science degree.

Fortunately the government loaned me the money for this degree as im from a poor family. This money came from taxation, and I will pay taxes when im older to insure other poor people get the same oppurtunity. The same applies to health. We all pay into a pot based on our wages, and than we take whatever we need when we are ill.

the 1/5 uninsured must look in envy

  • arkg: I really do not want to know...because there is no way you have a job. You are so full of crap as evidenced by your "exaggerations". You are a drama queen looking for attention.

Go get a job, work for a living, then talk to me about what I need to do for others.

Right now, you sound too much like some kid who lives in his Mothers basement, who never worked a day in his life.

  • Im a left-wing student hippie actually... get your facts right son... my mum doesnt even have a basement in her government funded home

  • (cont) Everyone already has the same opportunity I had, they just have to work for it, make personal sacrifices like I did and they can end their own poverty as I did for myself. It did not happen overnight, and I spent many years going forward, taking steps back, and moving forward again. That is what you have to do to get ahead. I decided at an advanced age to go to school, get a degree, and get a better job. I did that. Anyone else can too.

  • unemployment therefoer has nothing to do with laziness. It goes up in recessions, and down in booms. It goes down when the government creates jobs through keynesian style projects, like dams or highways.

I just cant see how a person getting sick, and getting healthcare that they have already paid or via taxes increases dependancy on gov? Its obvious we depend on gov on some things, cuch as law enforcement, trash colleciton, defence... etc. If we accept this principle, than y not healthcare?

  • arkg: Local taxes pay for police, fire, trash. We do this because we can not each have our own police departments enforcing our own sets of laws. There is some need to pool resources, but that is local. The Feeral Government provides defense and shoudl provide regulations only. When they get too hands on, things get screwed up. The reason Fed Ex and UPS exist is because the the inherent inefficiencies of the Federal postal system.

  • I also think much more power should be local, and westministers powers should be limited (analogous to your washington)

I think we both agree on the basic principle here.

  • arkg: No...You do not have any idea what my principles are.

The American Government is not like any other. We are younger, more foolish, and spend way too much time and money on political correctness and bullcrap. Our Government will not tolerate discrimination, but practices it daily. Especially age discrimination. Men and women both serve in the military, but women have lower standards and can not do some jobs. It is all screwed up, and only an American can understand that.

  • guess you are right... i dont understand the US system. But you dont understand my system neither.. the fact is the USA are nehind on many social issues, and I the western euuropean approach works better for the public.. it makes our lives better.

I also admit the UK is behind most of europe, especially those darn scandinavians with their near perfect societies.

American public need to stop being so proud and accept there are some things other natiosn do better... healthcare being one

  • arkg: I understand your system VERY well.

By your own admission, you live in Government housing, you go to school on Government money, and everything is handed to you.

...And you love that, because you do not have to work for anything. If you love that so much, you just continue being a leech on society, because YOUR society is apparently okay with that. Mine isn't.

You stay there in your welfare state and we will stay here in our freedom and deal with our own issues without you.

  • I was joking when I said government housing...

Well when I qualify, ill be earnign double the national average (paid for by our 'evil socilaized' health system) wage. I wouldnt call this poverty.

Im from a poor background but our govenment invested in me , so I could do something useful and invest in others. We have a principle that people from any income have a chance in life..

If I was brought up in the Bronx in similar situatiohn, I despair at the thought of how I would have ended.

  • arkg: Yes, you seem to be "Joking" or exaggerating whenever I catch you in some kind of BS.

You do not understand what you are involved in. It is a cycle of poverty and dependency. You may make a nice wage in gross, but your net will be basic poverty wages because of the taxes you will have to pay to support other people.

You live on a little island and all of this may be fine for you, but it does not work here. We have a lot more to pay for....like defending small islands.

  • lol defending small islands.. very good.

  • arkg: At least you have a sense of humor...

  • well, i got the munchies now so im going to the 24 hr vending machine for some snacks.. paid for by government grants..

    good night

  • arkg: Exactly...you go get your Government hand out and sleep well in the knowledge that you will never have any wealth or enjoy a good life, because you will always be living in the socialist vaccuume that sucks your life away and keeps you in perpetual poverty.

As soon as you start to really work for a living, you will realize that you have to pay for other people and you will never have a pot to piss in. The Government will take whatever you make and give it to someone else.

  • You think the stae should stay out of our lives completely...

but as I keep repeating myself over and over.. we vote for them, they are us. They workfor our interest, and provide services we couldnt possibly organise ourselves.

Who are these people you say you pay for? Your welfare system is tiny compared to ours. Most poeple receive nothing, so who exactly are paying for to sit on their arse? Unemployment is around 4% and fluctuates due to economic conditions. This is obvious,

  • arkg: Look kid...you do not know what the hell you are talking about.

Government is best when it is regulatory in nature and hands off in practice. The Katrina relief debacle in New Orleans is what happens when people are too dependent on the Federal Government.

Go read up on that history, then get back to me..ok?

  • mate, you read up on your history.

The european social model has given us over here better health, and higher standards of living. These are FACT. Japan and Australia are the only ones outside of europe who have similar systems, and have the same results.

U r behind on everythinf. Health, crime, poverty, drugs. Your murder rate would be regarded as a national emergency in UK.

Our civilizations are based on thousands of years of tiral and error.

    Catch up!

  • arkg: I am not your mate and I do not live in Europe, Japan. Austrailia, or anywhere other than the United States of America. Our Government is not like those you mentioned. Our Government does not make anything more efficient, or cost effective. It is not set up to do so. You have no idea.

Again, you do not know a damned thing about what you are talking about.

When your country is perfect, then you come tell us how wonderful it is. Until then, mind your own business.

  • well exactly!! and why doesnt it make things more effective??? because it has such limited powers based on ideological positions held by people such as yourself, they are in no poistion to do so. Your gov has to ride with the economy that the markets control. They have no control over their own fiscal systems..

in UK we have agreed the gov should be the rubber stampers, not some greedy fat cat sat in a mansion.

  • arkg: You need to read what I am writing before you fire back answers that have no relevance to subject.

The limited powers were done so on purpose.

Do you have any clue as to what country's rule we left because we did not lik etheir screwed up way of doing things?

Do you know who the Declaration of Independence was addressed to?

    Any idea at all?

  • I do know the first thing about government: it is answerable to demcoracy. Big corporations are not; we cannot elect the ceo of walmart or bank of america, or blue cross/blue sheild. We cannot call them and expect them to listen and respond to our concerns. So yes, I prefer that government runs things as opposed to for-profit corporate scum. I want a government so big that it includes everyone in direct decentralized democracy. I want more economic equality in the US.

  • vwlf: You prefer the people who gave us Katrina relief in New Orleans run things?

    REALLY?

  • Single-payer means that the government PAYS only; they do not run. Single-payer is not an English NHS style option, but, again, yes, I would prefer that bodies answerable to the people via democracy run things as opposed to the big corporations and their death panels.

  • vwlf: Again, you obviously do not understand HR 676.

Type in hr676 in a search on youtube, and go to the third video. Start paying close attention at 2:30 into the video where Kucinich himself says all assets of the U.S. Healthcare system will be converted over to not for profit...

You do not even know what you support.

  • You are the one who apparently can't learn any new information beyond the anti-government talking points you've been introduced to. I don't get all my information about the world from misunderstanding youtube videos. HR676 is single payer; the hospitals, etc. will still be private, will still be for-profit if they are now, but without the for-profit insurance industry. I think this conversation is going nowhere...

  • vwlf: I am getting this from Dennis Kucinich's own mouth.

That video is HIM talking and saying EXACTLY what I have told you. If you are so subborn that you can't watch a video of Dennis himself saying what I have claimed he said, then you are right, this conversation is going nowhere.

Keep your head in your ass and stay ignorant, that seems to be what you prefer.

  • It isn't Kucinich's plan, it is the congressional HR676, and no, you don't get what it is or what it is saying; you would have corporate-controlled deathcare, and I hope it does slap you in the face. Goodbye.

  • vwlf: You do realize that you are watching a video on the Dennis Kucinich 08 channel...right? If you actually read the bill, you would see his name posted at the top, right after Mr. Conyers. It is his baby, his passion.

In Title II, Subtitle A, section 201, 2,C,2 it specifically provides for major equipment purchases. You obviously do not know what that means or involves. The Government does not just hand money to people without following guidelines for purchase, maintanance and displosal.

  • (cont) When you see something in print with general terms and vague language, you have to ask, "What does that mean"? "How will that work"?

First, you must have a working knowledge of the system you are dealing with. Then you must be able to use that knowledge to understand what is meant by the listed provisions within a bill.

  • O.O Here's an idea!

    BUY YOUR OWN DAMN INSURANCE!

im poor, and im not on medicaid.

  • medicaid is a joke...you either have to be working a deadend job going nowhere, on welfare, or old as fuck to get it...what about the people that cant work because of mental imbalances? who want to go to a doctor possibly get on medicine to help them maybe one day get a job...but cant afford to go to the doctor let alone pay for the medication...wake up man

  • I'm gonna need 676 to pass to go back to college.

  • This man speaks the truth about the corporate influence on policy.

  • Dennis, The state isn't some authentic magician.

  • why??? aren't they people too?

  • WHAT?

  • Fooschnikens I am speechless.

  • When Ralph Nadar was asked who he respected he said this guy's name first. I'm not going to settle for someone like Obama next time. Kucinich is real.

  • I cant reply on that forum anymore but its obvious your very passionate about Obama. You saying my accusations are false and leaving them be are really weak. It shows you can't back anything up.You have stated definitions while i bring facts, quotes, and dates. Your argument is just a he say she say and its completely ignorant.Jews were attacked due to the whole conspiracy and there class dominance, similar to obama attacking the richYou disagree with everything i say and just simply say no

  • i think that we shouldnt cover preventitive care. with his plan, the people would have enough money to take care of themselves

  • Is it that difficult to copy from EU or even easier-Canada and paste into the USA.I don't get what's to think about. The worst health care system I've seen and experienced is in the States, but there is still hope,I haven't been in Albania yet.

  • I like the idea of universal health care, but if it does ever come to pass in the USA, the following groups of people will automatically become my enemies:

    all smokers

    all druggies

    all binge drinkers

    all fat people

    You get the idea.

Why? Because their lifestyle choices will have suddenly become my problem.

UHC = good. UHC burdened by an unhealthy populace due to bad choices = bad.

  • What else will be our problem:

Diabetics -- an epidemic in the USA.

Genetic diseases? Behavioral/psych disorders? Terminal cancers? (so NOT cost effective)

How about the homeless schitzophrenics who drink & drug to quiet the voices in their heads? Are the less deserving because they offend our sensibilities? Of course, they belong in hospitals which Reagan shut down 25 yrs ago for the fantasy of "community based care".

Who will UHC serve? Everyone or nobody?

  • Diabetics = fat people (for the most part) so I mentioned that already. Genetic diseases and behavioral disorders aren't caused by lifestyle choices so I have no issues with these people.

P.S. With UHC in place, I see a lot of expensive mundane procedures/treatments that are generally perceived as "important" suddenly be deemed not as important as once thought (i.e. Ritalin, infant circumcisions, 6-month dental checkups, etc) in order to curb wasteful spending. For that, I say Praise da Lawd.

  • I am afraid you have been swept up by ignorance or stupidity. Just remember, stupidity is forever, ignorance can be fixed. Now, I will enlighten you. Diabetics, is not only in fat people. There are people whom are nautrally born with this condition. I have a friend who was born diabetic. As far as infant circumcisions, it keeps the pennis clean, preventing the foreskin from becoming infected. I know proof of that too. Educate yourself on these things, before you make a fool out of yourself.

  • 1) I KNOW diabetes isn't only caused by being fat, and I subtly stated that. Would you read what I write more carefully so I don't have to be constantly explaining myself?

    2) You are absolutely wrong about infant circumcision. The US is the only industrialized nation in the world where this bizarre practice is commonplace and only because someone is making money on it from the individuals (not the state) who foot the bill. It's a barbaric tradition akin to those you'd find in central Africa.

  • Oh wrong am I about circumcisions? Well, I have news for you on this too. Check your inbox- this gets a little personal!

  • I got your message. I'll respond to it tomorrow.

  • "preventing the foreskin from becoming infected."

Duh! Something that doesn't exist can't be affected. If circumcision is so good, then why is the US the only developed nation doing it? Other countries in Europe have much lower STD/infection rates than the US because they learn how to take care of themselves from the beginning.

I agree with you about the diabetic part, but male circumcision is unnecessary. by your logic, if a guy's circ is necessary, then a girl's is, too.

  • Female circumcision is not at all necessary! I wrote a paper on this in college- a cruel barbaric act. Something that doesn't exist can't be affected? Well, I have no idea what you mean by that- that just doesn't make any sense. STDs in other countries has nothing to do with circumcision- that has to do with culture- that is failed argument on your part. As far as male circumcisions go, you will get the same message that I give others on this topic. I have an email ready- Standby.

  • I also wrote a paper on this in college. In researching it I found that there are four types, the least harmful being clitoral forskin removal(the equivalent of male circ) which is the type I was referring to and the worst being where they pretty much scoop out the whole vag(female genital mutilation, not circumcision).

  • When I wrote the phrase 'something that doesn't exist can't be affected', I meant it literally. When you said, "preventing the foreskin from becoming infected", that was pointless. The foreskin isn't there anymore so how could it get infected? That's like saying removing an arm can prevent shoulder and wrist pain. It doesn't make sense.

  • No- that was not pointless. If the foreskin is not there it cannot become infected- period. That was the point.

  • Tha's what I meant when I said 'something that doesn't exist can't be affected'.

  • In think you established that already. Now, lets keep this conversation on the personal message system. Nobody out there wants to see 3 pages of comments between 2 bickering assholes. Not that I give a fuck what anyone thinks of me.

  • Incorrect- there is no logic what so ever in female circumcision. Female circumcision is based on the bias whims of men, particularly in the third world African countries. It has no purpose but to keep women chaste, or for sexual pleasure. It is a sick and wrong act- completely.

  • What do you think one of the reasons for male circumcision was for in the 20th century? One of the main reasons(for Americans) was to prevent masturbation. Compared to female circumcision(not mutilation), circ for males was more ridiculous. There was even a claim that it prevented mental illness. Can you say pointless? To be fair, at least female circ had one goal, and to an extent, it worked. The same can't be said about it for males as most of the reasons for it weren't even backed by science.

  • You are really gung ho on this issue, aren't you? Alright, well talk about it. Everyone knows that medical and scientific advancements in the early 20th century were still very simple, and even incorrect. Now, I never said anything about these reasons being pointless on these matters pertaining to the circumcision issue. Most female circumcisions in this world, are totally for the wrong reasons. I can't even think of a right reason for that.

  • Beadphreak, I agree with you. Reagan and Bush was responsible for community base care. It is said to ride down the roads and see these poor ppl that can't get healthcare. I am glad someone hasn't closed their eyes.

  • In most countries with UHC, there is a syntax on producs like cigarettes, alcohol and food with high cholesterol or saturated fats. That money goes into the healthcare system. Example: A 12 pack of beer in canada costs 30 dollars. So the people who have unhealthy lifestyles end up paying more to the healthcare system.

  • Holy Santa Clause Shit! That was so retarded! I would love to see one of your family members get cleaned out over getting sick. Bad health doens't always equal bad choices. You are a complete fucktard.

  • Looks like someone didn't read my second comment.

  • Looks like your right. LOL

  • but their taxes pay for you rhealthcare too

its not liek you are some saint who is upholding all these people

  • That's not the point.

  • ilwo:"UHC = good"

In a perfect world where faireys can grant wishes and silver coins can be planted and grow into golden trees...it might be "okay"...

In the real world, UHC is not good at all.

  • Obama needs to use this one

  • we don't have a health care problem, we have a health insurance problem. Universal health care is a bad idea.

  • Dennis and Gravel were the best Democratic candidates..

However, I now know that capitalism is unsustainable, no matter how much you attempt to reform it.

  • enca:"I now know that capitalism is unsustainable"

Yeah this 233 year old experiment in American Capitalism will never last....

(In case you were wondering...that was sarcasm)

  • With captilism the bottom line is profit. To make profit you must encourage consumerism. The U.S. already consumes 40% of the world's resources. What will happen as China's economy grows when they have 1/5 of the world population to our 1/20? Capitalism may have some use, but unfettered capitalism is unsustainable--unless you get rid of a bunch of consumers. We have almost no democracy left in the U.S. because of powerful capitalists.

  • ashi:"unfettered capitalism is unsustainable"

Yeah, it has only lasted 240 years so far...

  • @ Weedapeople

    ashi:"unfettered capitalism is unsustainable"

Yeah, it has only lasted 240 years so far..."

No you are wrong, the USA is 233 years old, not capitalism. Capitalism started in Victorian England, not in the USA. It started with the industrial revolution, which was in Englanf 1st and it's only maybe 150 years old. In historical terms that is not that long.

  • owmo: Yeah...not really. The basics of organized free market capitalism have existed since the middle ages. Privately owned business, free market labor, production in return for money have all existed as long as there have been humans. In historical terms, it is as long as it could be.

  • You realize most of the money spent on healthcare in this country is spent by government? You're right though, one of the bottom lines in capitalism is profit, but profit only comes if you keep up with the competition and deliver what the market demands and competitive prices. This is the problem with our healthcare--no competition and no incentive to drop the prices. More government intervention isn't the solution, it's the current problem.

  • The Canadians are having some problems because they have nursing shortages and need to expand bed coverage. Don't let the right-wing jackasses fool you. Let's think about this logically. Private insurers are a business and businesses, by their very nature, are trying to maximize their profits and minimize their payments. Of course, those payments are your health and well-being. Do you really want your health being controlled by that kind of system?

  • I always hear people opposed to the idea of universal health care talk about the many problems of the Canadian and other systems. I've talked to many others from these "Socialist" countries, and I have yet to meet one willing to trade what THEY have for the American system where you are left to your own devices; a system where most bankruptcies are due to the inability to pay for the highest medical costs in the world

    beyond-the-political-spectrum.blogspot(dot)com/

  • This is going to happen and hopefully in the next 10 years. People are going bankrupt without this solution. Europeans and Canadians I talk to love their national health care and laugh at the myth that it won't work in the US. Stop allowing yourselves to be brainwashed by the right wing on this issue.

  • NO to universal health care. What he's not telling you is you would then start having months-long waits for care you now get in days or weeks. People die in Canada waiting for care, due to rationing of health care. And they HAVE government insurance! So it's NOT true no one would have problems if the govt. provided care. And Kucinich, as other politicians, would likely be exempt from these longs waits that 'regular people' like you and I would have. So this whole thing is a scam.

  • wow your an idiot. Every single statistic concerning patient death is lower in canada. This includes people that die waiting for health care. There is no perfect system and no one said that its just better. The reason why we have low wait times is we kick out the people that can't afford it. An politicians already have a better system then we the "regular people" its funded by the government. Besides we have too long of wait times for treatment we can let the pentagon research the problem.

  • like we all ready don't wait a long time for payed health care.

  • I would like facts that ppl die in waiting rooms. I would like your source.

  • Spyderman - you are a silly uninformed person. A recent poll proves 59% of US doctors support single payer health care in the USA!

All countries with universal single payer health care spend much less money per person on health care and provide quality health care for many more people.

    Get a clue sucker!

  • How do we get universal healthcare? The answer is simple: You have to steal. If you don't know how to make healthcare cheaper, and you want everyone to have it, then you must steal to pay for it. I prefer the peaceful solution of finding and ending the cause of the escalating cost, thereby making it affordable.

  • Dennis ran Cleveland into bankruptcy when he was the mayor there. Now we know why.

Of course, Dennis, being a socialist, can't be bothered with such petty details like how we'll pay for it. His answer will be to jack up taxes until he's paid for it. The hell with the economy, GDP growth, high-tech, etc.

His campaign slogan should be "Everything for everybody, and all for FREE".

  • Of course, twenty years after he "bankrupted" Cleveland, they found out that he actually saved them hundreds of millions in the long run by refusing to privatize utilities.

Which is why they turned around and elected him again.

He was right, he knew it, and didn't cave to pressure. Even if it cost him his job back then.

How can you even talk smack like that? Dennis has more integrity in his left thumb than most of the corporate stooges you probably vote for.

  • Vote Nader/Gonzalez for single payer universal health care!

  • Single payer universal healthcare? You mean a monopolizing insurance company--err I mean the government? insurance companies need competetion to drive the cost down, basic economics. Universal healthcare will only destroy the quality of healthcare. If you don't believe me, ask a doctor who's spent most of their life studying, or who's missed so many moments with their family because of being on call, or one who is still over $200k indebt because of medical school loans. Alright?

  • Nader/Gonzalez are the only candidates talking about single payer universal health care now!

Democrats and republicans work for the rich Americans get the government they deserve!

If Americans had any sense at all they would be demanding Bush's impeachment and an end to the Wars of aggression. Torture is an international war crime as is preemptive war.

Wire tapping, detainment without charge, and signing statements are all unconstitutional!

Impeach Bush before he starts another war!

  • You people kill me...Talk all you want nothing will change.

  • nowellian ---- GOD BLESS ... JAPAN is a most capitalistic nation on EARTH...USA MEDIA is saying we will be SOCIALISTS if we take UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE .... hahahahah .... JAPAN has it ,, USA can have it too .... BUT Goverment is under CONTROLL of insurance companies ,, which are making BILLIONS of DOLLARS ... TOP USA COMPANY in 2006 was a UNITED HEALTH .... with 500.000.000.000 in profits ,.... PEOPLE DENIED care ... THAT is how you make HUGE PROFITS .

  • Japan has single payer universal health care and they have the longest lifespan in the world. They also have less of all the major illnesses.

A night in the hospital costs $10.

Every citizen can go to any doctor any time they want and they spend less than 50% per person on health care that the US does.

Americans are being taken for a ride by corporate America and they do not have a clue!

A recent poll shows 59% of US doctors want single payer universal health care! Listen to the video!

  • Kucinich talks a good game, but even here in Australia we recognize that a lot of stuff he mentioned is elective, free mental health cover? Thats crazy, in Australia only General Practicianers get the base rate on medicare, all specialists that don't operate out of a public hospital charge MORE than that, and private citizens pay the difference, I regularly see a specialist, and I have to pay 1/3 of the bill, but I wouldn't want it to be COMPLETELY free, otherwise our taxes would be too high.

  • "It's time to get 'for-profit' out of health care." - Dennis Kucinich

  • Ten billion dollars a month for the Iraq war and no health care for 47 million Americans!

    Why?

  • if you are one of the 47 million and you die then the policy was the correct one. I would rather you people just die than ask me to pay for your health insurance. No one likes a freeloader. Didn't your momma teach you that?

  • Well thats because u are one stupid and ignorant american, in europe we have these things called Moral Values. We dont let our Men, Women or children just die even if it would be a drunk... You have the Moral imperative to help the less fortunate.

  • We have the moral imperative to help the less fortunate here too! We do it through church, charity, family and the free market.

It must suck to live in a Socialist country - although we are not far behind.

  • Well if u think whole europe sucks then maby yes :)

i dont mind paying a bit more taxes to get better education and healthcare

  • That would be great, but we have not yet started to pay for the Iraq War.

Your cause is noble, but the nation is broke.

  • It's nothing noble about it. It should be our right. I'm with one company for 10 years. See a doctor once in two years. I am paying on average 400$ a month. The insurance company invests my money and makes money on my money. If I started investing in health plan from an infant, I would be able to save for old days. Then, new job and new health care provider. Where did my money go??

  • yeah i have to live with these fools.

  • Universal single payer health care, now only Ralph Nader is talking about it!

Senator Obama Clinton McCain is against it!

    Peace.

  • England has had single payer universal health care since 1947!

Poll after poll and shown that most Americans want the same. Our politicians are beholden to corporate America and will not deliver on it!

Clinton wants universal insurance she wants to mandate all Americans must buy health insurance. That is a huge benefit to corporate insurance and a huge blow to working Americans who can not afford it.

Obama is against single payer univeersal health care as well.

  • Dennis Kucinich is so right about this. How can the rest of the industrial countries of the world provide universal health care and we can not?

    This is way past due.

Now only Ralph Nader is addressing this issue he is offering about the same plan as Kucinich.

  • Single payer universal health care!

When the health care industry controls your health care they have total CONTROL over you!

At lease we can vote for who runs the government!

You have no say in who runs the health care industry. Public services should be in the PUBLIC domain so we do have some say in how they are run!

It's called democracy - the USA should try it sometime!

Industry is even running our elections and controlling who we can see in presidential debates!

  • When the government has control over your health care, they have TOTAL control over you!

  • lol universal healthcare doesent mean Government decides what care u need or get it just finances it u dumb ass
