@USDJ2722 Then why does my original cassette which I ordered from KUBE have KUBE 93 on the cassette jacket? Why does the back say lyrics written by Tom Hutyler who was an Ackerley Communications employee i.e. KJR AM & FM & KUBE? Why are KUBE & KJR the only radio stations mentioned, KUBE predominantly in the chorus? Why do I have emails from a former Ackerley/current Clear Channel employee who worked on this and wanted a hard copy? The song came first when the video was made it aired on King 5.
I LOVED THIS VIDEO, MY LIFE IN ONE VIDEO, I SHOOK HANDS WITH BRAKEMAN BILL AND RODE IN THE DAFODILE PARADE WITH HIM WHEN I WAS A LITTLE GIRL, DANCED WITH J P PATCHES AT A SHOE STORE, MET STEVE LARGENT, ALL OF THIS I CAN REALLY RELATE TOO! I LOVE SEATTLE AND ALL OF IT;S RAIN!
Cool retrospective video. But, I spent my first 45 years in Seattle, and I don't EVER remember the KUBE playing good music...of course, I was a KISW fan back then, KOL earlier...
Thank God I moved out of that place. Highly dysfunctional, hyper-granola, introverted, chilly people. Unique vibe, but the NorthWest is just strange on so many levels.
@RSCII Yes, we're strange. New York is that stressed out micro-manager. Miami - lots of fun, not much brain. LA is a cross of bimbo and best buddy with attitude. Dallas...may not be on the same planet. Seattle is the strange guy in the IT department that will fix your hard drive, but look at you strangely if you ask about weekend plans.
Very cool that you put this on here! My sisters and family (all but me, sadly) grew up in Seattle and we have a VHS tape of this very thing! I was sorting through old VHS's last night and came across it and of course watched. I was curious to see if it was on YouTube.... and here it is! We've all loved this song/video for yeaaaaaaaars!
I should add that I'm from California, but I honestly do LOVE it in Seattle. Practically all of my extended family lives there and I'm always so happy when I get to go visit them. I hear a lot of people complain about the weather, but I love rain and think I'd be happy living there. I wish I'd grown up in WA too, and not just my older sisters!
if you don't believe in God, Seattle proves that there is a God. You can feel God's presence in Seattle. It's such a wonderful paradise, there are no words to describe the supernatural beauty of Federal Way, Tacoma, Redmond, Spokane. People are so nice and interesting, open minded, the traffic is the best in the world, and when it snows, they magically turn snow into diarrhea.
Seattle reminds me so much of Vancouver ... they could be twin cities in many ways... i bet the "Texada Island vibes" is what has given Seattle it's "cool in the rain" thing !! ha ha!!! cheers !
@anarksee yer not the 1st person who says that... i think tho 4 pple who live there they prolly would say the opposite...i dunno...i definatley LOOOOVE Canada in general... i've only been 2 the U.S. a few times...i liked it mostly tho ; all the times i went ; once 4 Disneyland ; once 4 Elton John; once 4 a friend who hadda date just cross the boarder and that's it so far... i needa go chase down Eminem & smuggle him back in2 Canada tho...have not done that
My dad worked at KUBE about this time, granted I would've been about 3 years old when this video was made, but we had the VHS tape and probably still do somewhere in my mom's basement. It was a staple for my sister and I growing up and both of us know the entire song from watching it so many times. xD
I have the VHS of this and it is the whole video, nothing chopped off. Soon, I will be making attempts to get it from the VHS to a DVD and when I do so, I will upload it on youtube and give you the link. : )

hahaha.. stop getting mad cuz youre stuck in that shit-hole of a city. tell me again why seattle's suicide rate so high? how about you stop gawking at my profile and put a noose around that fat neck of yours and JUMP.
dont you have anything else to do other than waste your time on youtube and going on a video just to diss something. And why are you bringing a suicide rate? It doesnt prove anything. Just saying its a shit hole doesnt mean it is. If you want to prove it, then give us your "facts" or opinions. It's everone's opinion, its either they like seattle or not.
Seattle doesn't have a high suicide rate.but we were the first ones in the u.s to create a suicide hotline.we were the first to keep track of suicides.ITS A FACT! dont believe me? lets settle with,we're killing ourselves because we cant handle what cali has done to the beauti of our state.and we hate living with it. you cali's make us puke. we saw what you did financially to cali.your bankrupt! we'll be damned if your gonna do it here.FUCK OFF YOU CARPET BAGGER! i love my home of washington
I have been looking for this video for soo long, i am glad someone posted it! I am too young to know the name of the original song, so that's probably why it took so long to find this :) thanks!
why do they mention Olympia Beer instead of Rainier? And Paul Revere & the Raiders (from Idaho) and The Kingsmen (from Oregon) but not The Sonics? And Steve Miller's only tie to the area is mentioning "Tacoma" in a song, unless I'm missing something
Rainier was sold to out of state ownership in the mid 70's (77 iirc) which caused a spike in still-local Olympia sales. Unfortunately Oly got sold out 5 or 8 years later. Both Paul Revere and the Kingsmen were well known touring nw band and Louie Louie first got airplay on Seattle radio stations, from where it went nationwide.
I agree with the yuppie metropolis comment. It's too bad, because Seattle is a beautiful city. Here's to hoping Portland does not suffer the same fate.
Wow. I had a teacher in fifth grade who had us listen VERY carefully to try to hear as many lyrics as possible so that she could put together a ditto from which we might sing it. It was YEARS before I heard the original WDSTF so when it didn't mention Husky Stadium collapsing I felt slighted.
I love Seattle though its diffrent then it was before. the arts in seattle have changed for the better u cant beat the feeling you get walking down the streets of seattle
Topshelf? As in KISW's Topshelf? This was made in 1990, Toppy was 20! Who the hell was he then, not Topshelf. Santa's elf? it rhymes but what does it have to do with Seattle and the surrounding area. Kurt Cobain done killed himself? That was 1994, this was made in 1990, very few knew let alone gave shit who Cobain was.

This is incorrectly attributed to KUBE. "Almost Live" did this and it was stolen by KUBE.
It's the same show that started a panic when they reported, with pictures, that the space needle fell over.

This was a fun video. Corny, as expected (hey, it was 1990), but shows some of the things that makes Seattle the best place to live.
Now let's go get a cup of coffee, shall we?
