Classic song and great slideshow! King Diamond, burning crosses, spooky castles, the Great Horned One, Dr Anton Szandor LaVey, inverted pentagrams and Satanic alters....all done in silent-film style grainy monochrome. Fantastic!
Get well soon, King, all best wishes to you. We need you back in studio; the world could really use some ungodliness before we all choke on holy books and false righteousness.
@330khz: Hank Shermann WAS on this one. It was Michael Denner who wasn't. And in Michael's place (Michael was in Danger Zone at this point) was Benny Peterson.
omfg!!! the 3:43-4:35 solo is just GODLIKE-gives me goosebumps every single time I listen to it!!!! I wish this was among their more popular/known songs so more people would have access to it...how the hell did this gem manage to stay buried/obscure like that?-how come it never made it into a regular m.f. studio album???beats me...
@steveharrismetalgod Hank sherman was not the lead on this one; I believe it was Brian Peterson, he left MF before they recorded In The Beginning. I think Hank Sherman is an axe GOD, but it would have been interesting to hear how MF would have evolved with Peterson. I saw MF in 82 in Cleveland in a 500 seat movie theater with Exciter, and Motorhead.... talk about goosebumps!!!!
@330khz I've heard Brian referred to as Bennet as well. I guess he played live for the Pretty Maids in their early days. And as muhch as King Diamond's last name is Peterson, could these guys be related, brothers perhaps?

@bozesanmihai Think of Hail Satan as "Hail Freedom", Satan in this song or in King Diamonds beliefs(lead singer) has nothing to do with the christian satan or any being. It's about freedom from these things. Even Atheists don't get it sometimes.
@TheUSMetalhead Thanks for explaining it calmly, I don't have the patience...especially when I'm drinking. Satanism is an atheist philosophy that represents rebellion against the fascist christians, and embraces all of the good things in life they call evil. It is turning their own bullshit symbolism of fear and control against them.
I am an atheist and I understand the appeal of Satan as an adversary figure, one of rebellion. One does not have to worship Lucifer to appreciate the freedom he represents in the Western world. As is the case with the bulk of those of identify as Satanists, they are really more like atheists with a mascot.
@bozesanmihai you should research the nature of satanism. its exactly how USmetalhead says. Its a 'fuck you' to all the shackles of christ and a praisal to the good things in life.
This song has NOTHING to do with the KKK. It's a anti-christian song. The act of burning the cross in this song represents the action taken by each group before they ride into the night and murder christian priests. The KKK are christians, the reason they burn crosses is from the fraudulent writings of Thomas Dixon who claimed the old KKK burned crosses before battle, it got passed on and became a false truth. Klan members believe burning a cross is symbolic of showing their faith in god.
@godofm60 If the KKK had something this good to listen too, they wouldn't be doing stupid shit in the south. They'd be going to King Diamond concerts.
@Jesuslolowns lol Funny. I could never see some redneck kkk guy banging his head to this. If you ever look at a King or Fate tour date schedule you'll notice they tend to avoid the "bad" south.
Nice vid. I couldn't believe when I found "Curse Of the Pharaohs" (demo comp) on tape. I heard this amazing song and couldn't believe they hadn't put it on an album!
I have all of the Fate demo tapes now, got them from an old school Metalhead from NYC who had a record shop in the Twin Cities that shutdown in the mid-90s. Most people who do discographies on Fate don't even have all the demos listed. I first heard this song when my friends older brother popped in a cassette tape of some live European radio show he recorded and it had the very first public performance of this song , fell in love with it immediately. Best Fate song Ever!
Awesome! My favorite band is Fate from 81-85, and eventually I want to collect as much as I can from that era (bootlegs, picture discs, etc.). I am even from the twin cities! It would be awesome to have a few more decent record shops here, lemme tell ya..
Jesus Christ is the only way and the King of Kings!
Satan will and is fallen!
"Hell fear me, i am the one that will bring you down!" says Jesus Christ.(And me)
God bless you all ;)
