@naplame If Fiat SPA had further developed a faster version of that 1.6 103bhp unit into a 1.6 150Bhp 8,000 RPM VVT engine. I hold no doubts in saying that it would be better then the 1.6 B16A2 engine from Honda. My Bravo used to laugh at 1.6 16V Ford Escorts and throw 1.6 16V Vauxhall Astras in the trash can at the traffic lights. It liked to be revved hard and bounce on the revs. Its a shame they put an uneconomical 2.0 20V in the HGT, a 1.6 150Bhp would have been much better.

@naplame Alfa do have excellent engines such as the twin sparks and JTD units. My last Fiat Bravo HLX had a 1.6 16V with 103Bhp which was Alfa developed and that engine was awesome as was the gearbox. It was the most well-tuned and economical 1.6 I've ever owned. It was the only petrol I had that came the closest to a 1.9 diesel in terms of MPG levels. A B16A2 1.6 Honda being driven sedately and not being driven near the Vtec zone would never survive on £20 a week in work/home commuting.

@naplame Alfas are good cars. GTV's are like a poor mans Ferrari and they have lots of ferrari features and attributes about their design. Its a very nice car and Alfa make some awesome machines for people who like style without a price tag. But what I am saying is that the image is massively let down by deluded fanboys. The 3.0 V6 GTV is aququate power as most other small GTV competitors like Toyota MR2's and other Jap Sports coupe's are as fast or faster with much smaller 1.8/2.0 engines.

@naplame I think what you and other moronic Alfa enthusiasts need to understand is that todays 3.0 commonrail diesels like BMW for example. Will have the 0-60 speed and top speed of a 3.0 petrol GTV of yesturday with a 30 yearold Alfa sprint engine. Sticking a huge inefficient V6 lump in a small sports car is yesturdays technology and it hardly offers performance that one might call 'a massive surprise in acceleration'. Its expected of it and it makes it rather boring in my opinion.

Like when women knife men to death and blame it on PMT which becomes totally admissable for murdering another human being. I am a VAG fanboy but I don't viciously attack the other brands like you do. The Seat is not a slow car, but it is stat-for-stat slower then the Alfa GTV which explains the race loss. Exchange that for a Cupra R 225 with an ECU remap = kiss goodbye to 30 years of a V6.

Just because the 3.0 GTV beat something that is knowingly slower doesn't automatically make the other car a "pile of shit" I have a passion myself but I don't go around bashing, poking my tongue out and childishly kicking everything that isn't my 'cup of tea' so to speak. @naplame 0-60 in 6.6 seconds is 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. I can say exactly the same thing about Leons "They are faster then their given times" If you know your Leons you can actually make a 1.9 TDi do 0-60 in 6.6/6.1 seconds under modifications so the Cupra R isnt the only car to keep up with it. Modified TDi's can do it too. The GTV 0-60 acceleration is nothing super special, its expected from a 3.0 V6. I love Alfas but I really hate the fanclub bullshit and dillusions about them. Sorry.

If you all look on Parkers.co.uk you will see that an Alfa Romeo 3.0 24V GTV is listed as doing 0-60 in 6.6 seconds and a Seat Leon 1.8 20VT 180 is listed as doing 0-60 in 7.5 seconds. There isn't much of a point in watching this race then pointing and laughing at the Leon and VAG group when we know it will inevitably lose. Its like racing a Focus with a 2.0 litre engine against a 1.8 Focus then laughing at the 1.8 because it lost. Its a bit of a thick thing to do.

Listen up you twats. If you put that 3.0 GTV against a Cupra R 225 the pair of them will be sitting level. If you all study your cars correctly instead of slandering them you might learn facts about the "yellow car". The GTV is against the lowest output 1.8T so the 3.0 V6 will win. Its listed as being slower on Parkers so its stating the obvious really isn't it? Dumb retards...

@naplame Hate to break this to you but that yellow Seat is not a Cupra R... Thats an entry level 1.8 20VT. The Leon 1.8 20VT's on entry level are 180Bhp. They are all distinguished by the shape of the front and rear bumpers. The front bumpers on a Cupra R 225 are a totally different shape. The Cupra and the Cupra R have 2 different bodykit styles and 1 different top speeds. The 180Bhp 1.8 20VT's top speed is 141. The 225Bhp 1.8 20VT Cupra R's top speed is 152.

The entry levels are listed as doing 0-60 in 7.5 seconds which is painstakingly obvious that its a slower car then a 3.0 GTV. You can tell it was a dumb clueless Alfa fanboy who knows nothing about VAG that called it a "Sport R" Lol. The Cupra R 225 is rated the same as a GTV so a GTV winning against this Leon was expected to happen *yawn*

@TheMash84 Yep ...Well at least Seats are dependable cars and don't end up dead on the backs of tow trucks every 5 minutes with disco boogeys happening with the electrics all the time. The steering doesn't shake itself to pieces on normal roads either. You can actually live with a trouble free life with a Leon. The same can't be said about Alfa. Put the 3.0 GTV against a 1.8 Cupra R with 225Bhp rather then a 1.8 with 188Bhp. The Alfa would catch fire trying to beat it.
