@thisisacunt It's really more just for professional painting and such, if you want to just paint for fun you really don't have to... at least I don't. But if you are doing it to sell it or something of that sort yeah you should probably gesso it.

Hi Dawn,

Have you tried mixing 'whiting' (French chalk) with the Gesso? Also a tint of colour, to get rid of the white.

The whiting helps the oils to dry much quicker, and it's ideal for Alla prima or En Plein Air.
