These game developers don't get it, do they? When a nuclear bomb goes off, people just don't go flying. It isn't just a big explosion. People burn. The radiation gets to you first. Your skin melts off your body and your blood is boiling. Your bones are breaking like pencils while your brain is going to complete shit from all the radiation. Then the shockwave finishes the job. Your now melted/charred body is ripped to shreds like toilet paper. And through this process, you are in horrible pain.

@5pliszer Warhead was a little more optimized, also Crysis 2 on console will take a dramatic gfx decrease compared to the PC version. Just watch the videos and see the jaggied edges all over the place in the console version, low textures, no facial animation. What I find most funny though is the fact that the PC version will have an editor, and you can map mods and maps on the PC and port them to the consoles which i think is great. Just puts everything into its palce, PC's fuckin rule!

Video ram, maybe but PC ram can go up to 24gb of DDR3 ram these days. But, if your video card lacks the ram needed to run some games DX10 will borrow some of the PC ram and add it to the video ram so it can probably go higher.

I have 12 Gigs of DDR3 RAM in my comp. It is the fastest commercially available computer, meaning not one built by you or a second party.

You're getting things mixed up. If you're missing regular RAM, then with more new applications like Photoshop CS4 you can use video RAM  like regular RAM.

Regular RAM does not have the proper hardware inside it to make it run like VRAM. But VRAM has compliant memory that can be used for framerendering and regular RAM applications.

Everyone is misunderstanding me.

The most VRAM you can have is about 3.5 gigs. 295 has 1792, the 4870x2 has 2 gigs, but it's accelerated virtually, making it the equivalent of 2 gigs. It's just as fast, but technically it's about 1900.

actual RAM, not VRAM, can go up to 24 gigs.

Yes, it can go up to 192. You might be thinking of a server or mainframe.

But a full size desktop can potentially use 192 GB, most motherboards can only support the amount of RAM in their DIMM sockets. So probably 24 gigs is as much as you can get nowadays. I don't know if there's an 8 gig DIMM chip, but there are definitely 4 gig ones. I'm using them now.
