You have a good head on your shoulders, somehow this didn't get in my subscription box, but I like how you were still in support of the actual tubers even if they were against the blackout.
For some reason, I decided to take a break AFTER the blackout. The Holidays were bugging me big time, and I took down my MySpace because people in my town are just plain creepy. D:
I watched quite a few videos about the blackout. Some were trying to get policies changed, some were hoping to get YouTube shut down. Neither of these goals were met. I didn't see anyone saying, "let's boycott YouTube so people will talk about it and put up more videos". The blackout failed.
the blackout was a failure as well as it should of been. I myself DID NOT participate in such a STUPID head stuck up my ass thing Merry Christmas...MIKMA WAS HERE
I figured someone out there would try to turn the blackout into a success with some sort of spin on it. Did YouTube change their policies? Did YouTube shut down (as some were hoping would happen)? Nope. The goals were not met and the blackout failed. Personally, I had more views during the blackout than I've ever had.
one act like this wouldn't suddenly make them change everything. something like this would progress slowly. they have to really feel like the community has a different agenda and they will eventually lose money if they don't work democratically.
but keep bashing it, seriously, it helps the cause.
Actually, I think you'll find that the longer this drags out, the more people will realize how little the minor changes in the rules are affecting them and the less they'll care about "the cause". According to some, "boycott 2" is on right now (Dec. 24 through Jan. 2) and I am hearing a lot less buzz about it. People that participated last time aren't participating this time, etc.
Got started late & only blacked out my latest 20 videos. Regardless if it worked(?) or not, it felt good & provided me with a much needed break. Enjoy your take on the subject.
the blackout failed. if you were on you would have seen. 1. youtube turned off all the ads on videos hahahahaha and 2. Alot of smaller channels got the opertunity to be seen because your crap wasnt waisting the bandwith lol. ok so im being an ass and its all in fun. you all take youtube too fucking serious. btw faceless vloggers are pussies
you know. it is kind of a strange thing. i hate corporations taking over, at the same time, the greed and the competition forecess some of of the utubers to do better and to be more creativve andd to push themselves .. but F#$k all that people that benefits of other's work
Have the Alexa traffic scores come in yet for those days? I'd like to see if it made a dent there. It was easy for me to participate, I was out of town for those three days. I tend not to get too worked up because, honestly, what option do we have? We can't go anywhere else and get any views, and speaking for myself, I make videos because I want them seen, either for their artistic merit, or to send a message (like my counsel parodies and that).
The option we have is the option we chose.Showing Youtube that we disagree with the manner and tone that they've adopted in running a business which depends on us is our best and only option. I hope this was only a beginning.
I thought the odds of YouTube changing its policy was close to zero. I really doubt YouTube cares that much about what we say. The main reason I joined was because a lot of good people were doing it, and for me not to join in would feel like crossing a picket line. It was certainly worth doing, and if you had no expectations then you wouldn't be disappointed by the results.
Well,I'm not making vids but I did log on and watch a few. I am glad that people finally stood together which is more than I thought would happen. Its hard to believe in people when you cant even get people to stand up and protest the actions of the government. I guess maybe take away their television and internet service and that is what will make people angry, not torture of innocent people, unjust wars, poverty and homeless problems. I guess that shows what most really care about. Peace stranger

I don't know. They seem to have a different physical shape, and the voices for both seem too natural.

I have some interesting statistics that were recorded during the boycott. I'm gonna try to make a quick video about it soon.
