Yes but the but you would need to fall as well. Same with harai Goshi and osoto gari, Tai otoshi, etc. At least with the Kimura grip. If you kept the grip their elbow and shoulder would be screwed.

I think the slap technique is good we use it in military training as well outside on the ground. The "slap" part of the fall doesn't have to be so exaggerated if your on the pavement but the body mechanics of "how" to fall still appply.

LOL... I remember a time when I joined Judo and people laughed at me. Saying it wouldn't work in a fight. Wasn't until UFC that people outside of the grappling world respected Judo as a art that can be applied to fighting.

Now imagine other arts that can be used in UFC... Like Aikido, Silat or Wing Chun.

the principles of aikido yes... but some of the throws have a lot of movement before the throw that'd make it difficult to execute if someone is fighting you but using some of the pulls and guiding them to your knee or something will be effective

Thanks for the video. The only thing I didn't like was when Karo was trying to execute a foot sweep, he didn't showed it in it's effectiveness.
