@001Nigel To my shame, I hadn't even realised The Rezillos were Scottish - I've learnt something there. But kudos as well to the Postcard crowd, like Orange Juice and Aztec Camera, also awesome.
Just to correct you nojnworbify. Stuart was playing a Yamaha SG2000 right from the early days (1977/78). Masquarade wasn't released until 1979. I never saw him play his SF700 live but seem to remember seeing Jobson playing a SF500 on the occasions he tried to play guitar! The SF700 wasn't that cheap back then, I couldn't afford one (now have SG1000,2000 and SF700 and 1000). All great guitars! Wish Stuart was still around..... great guitarist and a fine man
@Tupperware61. Genuinely impressed with your knowledge of Stuarts guitars during his Skids days. Have drop by the Skids site sometime, sure there's a few folks like myself who'd enjoy talking guitar with you. Cheers: Alan C.
Sure thats a Yamaha Super Flighter 700.A rare guitar now and cheap guitar in its day.Didnt take Stuart long to save up for The Yamaha SG2000 in time for his later outings..
Strange how they created little interest early 80's, gig wise in the midlands. Went to see them several times, fantastic gigs. This song was the dogs.
Just watched Jobson some 30yrs later last night at the Alhambra in The Skid's home town of Dunfermline and he still kung fu danced throughout the set as they blew the roof off!! What a night, The Bigman would have been humbled at the awesome reception to his music,Holy to The High!
The Skids were a class act....they explored music through the late 70's and early 80's......they blew Magazine away....Jobson then became all Arty Farty....what a great band...how sad that they never really achieved the success they so deserved....but then that was what this era was all about....the possible...
