  • song at very begning? ive heard it but cant remember it anyone know? I think i saw it on a jeb corliss video

  • @Barbellthane 'Boadicea' by Enya. Also sampled by the Fugees in 'ready or not'

  • 5 hrs later...OH HE MOVED SOMETHING!!!

  • clean your ears..

  • FORGET OPENINGS. PLAY CHESS960. SAVE YOUR CASH. DO NOT BUY BOOKS ON THE OPENING OR WATCH THESE VIDS. BE CREATIVE AND PLAY CHESS960.

    STUFF THE SICILIAN DEFENCE!!!!

  • so sicilian is only for e4 openiing?

  • Fugees "Ready or Not" intro lol, love it

  • weird audio

  • "Sicillian Defense... sign of a coward."

    -House

  • @xbox360ROCKS777 Hammer and Anvil. The Sicilian defense is the anvil.

  • @xbox360ROCKS777 Sicilian defence gives better results. You can Call me a coward for playing sicilian but not a losser

  • Can i ask what is the best defense for white against this Sicilian Defense?

  • @darkslientt The Sicilian Defense is a "defense" and hence does not have to be defended against. White is usually focussed on trying to attack it and break it down. In my experience, this has often led to white casteling queen side in order to free his entire king side pawn structure for offense against it.

  • after white knight to C3, is black pawn to e5 not viable? I like the move

  • can i ask in all politeness what your ranking is?

  • what is "vancetto" or what ever he calls it when you move the bishop outside one square... can't quite understand the pronunciation with your accent :/ sorry. .Btw im new to chess and am loving the tutorial videos.

  • @iddtelyoubut its correctly spelled fianchetto, and it's where the pawn in front of a knight is pushed up 1 square and the bishop takes its place.

  • @iddtelyoubut its called Fiancetto and its when you post the bishop on kingside on either the g7 or g2 square. This gives a nice long attack on the diagonal and allows the bishop to move around the pawns.

  • @iddtelyoubut "Fianchetto"

  • @iddtelyoubut Fianchetto. It's when you move the bishop to either the B2 or G2 square (for white), or B3/G3 for black. Typically, the B/G pawn would be one square ahead of its home rank for the fianchetto.

  • @iddtelyoubut He is saying "fianchetto." It is the term for bringing the bishop out to the second rank of the adjacent knight file, the knight pawn having been moved one or two squares forward.

  • @iddtelyoubut a fianchetto is the technique where you move your bishop to one of the four corner outposts: b2 b7 g2 or g7. its a hypermodern technique. In other words, classical chess players control the center with pawns and support with minor pieces. A hypermodern player doesn't mind to control the center with pawns, or fianchetto his bishop and control the center, as well as the entire diagonal, with his minor pieces.

  • @iddtelyoubut Fiancetto.

  • @TheSpiderHand Fianchetto*

  • Comment removed

  • @iddtelyoubut if black moved g6, then bishop to g7 thats Fiancetto. Gives a good attack on the long diagonal but weakens the king-side a little.

  • it's fle-K-etto

  • I like the sicilian dragon as a defence, also in a romantic way, it sounds good.

  • Awesome music

  • what is the name of the move bf8 to g7 then 0-0

  • Comment removed

  • every time i play this i end up against asshole who just immediately trade off most of the pawns >.<

  • Intro reminds me of The Lord Of The Rings, what is it? :)

  • @RandyIsC0o00o0L The fugees - ready or not.

  • oh so this was the thing that one guy from princess buttercup was talking about

  • What if white tries using the scholars mate on the sicilian defense?

  • @mopbrothers You could always block it with pawn to e6 at a suitable moment

  • Hey, could someone explain to me what happens if: 1)e4, c5 2)d4, cxd4 3)Qxd4? I dont know what to do if anyone does this

  • @13cardmaster : that would be Nc6.

  • try the opening explorer on chessgames com if you're struggling with openings

  • @13cardmaster Instead of Qxd4. I prefer the Smith-Morra Gambit.

  • the transcribe audio actually works!

  • can you combine two of the variations?

  • you should show us the Yugoslav Attack

  • can people please veiw my channel

  • quick question, at the end, would bishop to G4 be a good move after developing the knight, why or why not?

  • 03:38 - Unicorn

  • Wow, I never knew so many people were so interested in chess.

  • @Michael0114PS3 I felt the same way when I first started getting into chess! I see all these 200k-900k views on Youtube and like 4 million members on this one chess site. It's crazy! I thought I'd be cool/different by getting into it...Now I'm just like everyone else xD

  • what is the rarest openings out there?

  • @USERNAMEKLEMPTOR

The one u Make up by yourself....

  • So he could move his bishop in the way to, but then he can't castle anymore and If you'd like to, trade bishops

  • At 2:50 can't you move your bishop to b5 and put him in check forcing him to move his queen in the way?**I DIDN'T LOOK TO SEE IF ANY OTHER PIECE CAN BE MOVED IN THE WAY**

  • @TheNeoFederalist thats y i asked you guys, i just hate it and need knew defenses against it so i thought the sicilian might help

  • @thechesswebsite what's the song at the beginning please? i heard from when i was a child but can't remember tha name of it at present

  • @theo085 i think it's 'boadicea' by enya

  • At 2:54, what should blacks next few moves be when Bb5?

  • i hate wheb i poop and the water splashes on my butthole would the sicilian defense help my problem

  • @cadetcagers10 yep :D

  • lol u talk too much and show less. sorry for saying that but before i thought that the chess website is the best but jrobi chess talks less and explains more......sorry dude for sayin it :)

  • what if my opponent moves differently than ur illustration???

  • @LorenzoAngel1000 then use ur brain

  • what the name of the intro song?

  • Novice question: What's wrong with black responding to white's Knxd4 with e5?

It seems like you'd be taking control of the center, attacking the knight on d4 (making white spend a move not developing new pieces) and opening up e7 for the kingside bishop.

  • @Zizzer18 Hi, that's a different varition of the Sicilian Defence. :D

  • UMMMMMMM NOT THE PAWN ON E5 NEEDS TO STAY there for good if they would of moved it the person playing white deserves to lose

  • What if black doesn't take the pawn i put up to trade? can you please make a video on how to counter that because my friend never takes the pawn when i put it up for trade and he still mostly wins so can you please help with a video =)

  • can u tell me a really good opening if white starts of with its queens pawn to d4

  • @0Infinitepain0

    queens indian is nice

  • @0Infinitepain0 pawn to f4

  • Thank you for very best quality ! ))

    Спасибо за хорошее качество!

  • now I have to listen to the fugees.

  • Don't hear anything.. unless I max my speakers...

  • When I used to play serious chess when I was a kid everyone told me to avoid the Ruy Lopez as it's overplayed. Is the Sicilian now more analyzed than the Ruy Lopez? I admit when I was younger serious competitor the Sicilian was not nearly on my radar as much as it probably should be---I guess most young players don't find the Sicilian appealing compared to most King pawn/Four Knights/Guico Piano/Ruy Lopez openings.

  • Why bother learning openings and all the sub variations? Simply play chess960 of FRC. Pure, creative chess form move 1.

Openings tend to be a boring contests between who has prepared better.

Stick to chess fundamentals, tactics, strategy and endgame and ditch your openings!!!!

  • What is the tune at the begin?

  • Good

  • Thanks for this.

  • 3:40 for Unicorn!

  • i dont know why u guys are complaining... i am wearing a headphone, and i am hearing it fine

  • Great video. Very succinct. Keep them coming!

  • In Canal Attack 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. Bb5+ I think 3. ... Bb5 does favor for black. Since he wouldn' t want to lose his light squared bishop for one of my minor pieces (Cuz light squared bishop for white is more adventegous) I thought 3. ... Bd7 is pretty solid. However again I need your response :)

  • @qenguen edit: I meant 3 ... Bd7

  • si"SILLY"an defense

  • "In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces." -Zapp Brannigan.

  • @IhearaHunter117 Like I did, I captured my friend's Queen yesterday with my Bishop on A2.. you know he kept chasing the Bishop until it arrived to A2 his Queen was on f7 I guess, And I took it and he was like wtf ? I took that Bishop !! -,-

  • What song is this plz?

  • @angeriod Fugees ready or not

  • @dritaz1337

Or Boadicea by Enya which the Fugees sampled :-)

  • I wanna learn really good chess! :) im 900 rating

  • Hello, I am not a good player, so excuse my naivety when I ask this - when black pawn moves from c5 to c7, is it worth white moving bishop to b5 to make check? because black would then not be able to castle for the rest of the game, and I would be worried if I was black about this possibility. Thank you

  • @PomBare I don't believe it. No sooner had I watched this video and commented on it...I then played a game online as black, and used your advice. It is uncanny how I was able to execute pretty much all of the moves u suggested. I managed to beat a much better ranked player, I'm so excited by this I clicked on my move history and captured it on my screen and then uploaded it to youtube on my name!

  • In the opening many players online play 2.Bc4 and I dont know how to continue have any ideas.

  • my best defence!

  • hello

  • how do you reply to b3 as white's 2nd move in the sicilian

  • In my experience, white never goes to D4.

  • @texasberry I always open with the queens pawn and so do many other players. Play more and you'll see it

  • @001caustin, What I meant was that I never see D4 as white's second move in response to black to C5.

  • @texasberry my bad. your right it's pretty rare usually Nf3 before d4

  • @TheImmortalFlip the original is by The Fugees - 'ready or not' of the 'The Score' album. peace

  • @thisistakingages I think the original is actually by Enya but pretty much everyone has already used that sample in one of their songs.

  • you should have had godfathe rmusic in the begininning it would have been hilarious, great video

  • i liked the way he explained it. Great

  • On 4:12 the best move would have been to move the bishop to a4 being an automatic check mate

  • i mean b5

  • i think i heard the music.. what is it again? the music in beginning..

  • @TheImmortalFlip ahhh I've heard this music before too!!!! What is it?!?!?!

  • @jasonl82 enya-Boadicea

  • @TheImmortalFlip the song has got be "Ready or Not" by the Fugees

  • @OnlineChessLessons thanks also mario winans song - i dont wanna know..

  • @TheImmortalFlip Mario Winans ft. P Diddy - I Don't Wanna Know

  • What about when white responds Bc4 instead of Nf3?

  • 3:40 it's a unicorn!

  • good video. good explanation in detail. good stuff over all.

  • the recording voices are very low,can you spearh up ,thanks

  • Chess. The game of Kings.

  • My Chess master said that this is not the Sicilian can you explain on this?

  • @TheKoolera I would be very curious to know what opening your "master" thinks this is if not the sicilian.

  • @thechesswebsite I was too then he said it was F6 or something

  • @thechesswebsite,

TheKoolera was probably referring to a computer program that he thought would display the name of the defense but doesn't display it where he thought it would.

How do people derive these opening sequences?

  • @thechesswebsite my teacher too called it something like "the Indian opening", after i checked on the web it turned out to be the sicilian.... but can u explain what is the Indian opening , or something like that?

  • @Tig3rS1 1. d4 nf6 is an "indian" opening, where black responds nf6 to d4

  • @TheKoolera It's the not the full Sicilian, it's the just the start, that's what he meant ....

  • Fantastic opening. I use it all the time. But, Usually when the knight recaptures on d4, and after Black fianchetto's his dark squared bishop, he usually likes to advance his pawn to e5, Dislodging Whites knight on d4. But, recently I've found out that during the endgame black's d6 pawn becomes extremely vulnerable. CAn you suggest any solution to stopping this problem at the start? Thanks.

  • you should have played godfather theme song in the beginning it would have been hilarious

  • COD4 > chess

  • @benzoatemybaby Give it 5 years and see which is more popular. I took the troll bait.

  • Why is sicilian considered one of the best openings?

  • you need a better mic.

  • @rustyrobot20 keep in mind this video was made 2 years ago. The mic has been upgraded a long time ago.

  • I played this game against the King's Gambit

the person I played didn't know about this opening

and I won 9/10 games with this but on the last game he threw up the Fishing Pole

and I wasn't familiar with it and how to counter it and I lost my Queen and a Rook

he played 7.B xA3(He took my pawn)and he had it protected by a knight and then he took my queen and then I Took his rook but he Checked my king and I lost my castle but do you know a good way to counter this?

  • @TheKoolera watch the video on the fishing pole from TheChessWebsite. If you did get hit by the fishing pole, you are lucky that you didnt get check mated

  • Is he trying to eat his mic?

  • what is the name of the music played at the beginning of the video?

  • @g3tt0n3rd

    Fugees ready or not

  • sicillian fucking pisses me off.. fuck this opening and whoever invented it

  • Great video. I can only watch 2 or 3 of these videos, then its time to play chess!!

  • 3:37 what.

  • With the dragon variation at the end of your video...I dont know if you are supposed to bring your bishop to G7, or bring it all the way out to H6...Are both moves beneficial? or is one more strategic than the other, and why...

    Thanks

  • @rambo112233 You definitely want to play Bg7. I can't think of any reason to play Bh6, unless there were unusual tactics in that specific game. The reason is twofold:

1: For offense, moving to g7 lets you attack the center much better than h6, and it has a greater potential movement range in the endgame.

2: For defense, the bishop forces white to bring at least three or four pieces to attack your king OR forces white to advance his kingside pawns all the way down. Either one takes lots of time

  • I needed this video so much... thanks, I quite understand the Sicilian basics now!

  • Like the videos and thanks so much.

Just thought I might try to return the favour. I hope you take this the right way.

    Shouldn't fianchetto be pronounced fianKetto?

Agian, thanks for the videos just the same.

  • not gd

  • this might sound bad, but whats the best defense after white e4 when he thinks he can get you checkmate in 4? Of course, they don't get me checkmate in 4, but i make the wrong move and they end up totally throwing off my defense and getting ahead in points before i get their damn queen out of my space.

  • @oryxfreeride Usually it involves white bringing their queen out early and working with a knight or bishop. Just look for moves to block the lines of attack with a pawn. Usually one good pawn move is all it takes, and then you can start chasing the queen around and punish them for bringing it out so early :)

  • @oryxfreeride if you are refering to an attack with Queen and Bishop, your best defense is actually Nc3. Stops the whole attack.

  • @oryxfreeride Nf6 stops teh whole attack.

  • I'M TOO LAZY TO PLAY THIS "KNOW YOUR MOVES BY HEART" GAME

  • What's the name of that song in the very beginning?

  • How is callde variation 1. e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.d4 cxd4 4 Nxd4 a6 5. Nc3 Qc7?

  • lol i love moving my pawns down the food chain :D

  • what should you do if after white moves Nf3 black moves Nc6?

  • how doyou spell the fein chetto thing? It's driving me nuts and is it even english, or is it latin or something? Thanks for the vids! ~God Bless

  • @Jmonkey515 "Fianchetto". It's Italian for "little flank", and is pronounced "fee-ann-KET-toe".

  • @EriktheRed53 Thanks.

  • @Jmonkey515

    from the wikipedia:

In chess the fianchetto (Italian: [fiaŋˈkɛtto] "little flank") is a pattern of development wherein a bishop is developed to the second rank of the adjacent knight file, the knight pawn having been moved one or two squares forward.

  • YOU LOOK LIKE A BUM SHAVE YOUR BEARD

  • white retreat the queen

  • these are really helpful for noobs like me thanks

  • HALLOWEEN GAMBIT

  • love you videos but you say the word "thrust allot" xD

  • @sebastian30000 right as i red ur comment he said "thrust" :D

  • jroibi is so much better

  • the best attack is to prevent the opponent to develop its attack/defense successfully, same for the other side, need to quickly convert its compromised opening into another simpler form of opening.

It's not all about opening, the rest of the game it's really about setting up attacks & gain initiative. Quick analysis & being able to control a lot of pieces at the same time.

  • nice video but....did u swallow the mic???
