God i still can't figure out how you play this fucking game.Everytime i try to use Ryu's shroyuken it does hadoken i can't even get that far...most confusing fighting game ever. i will still with Tekken /Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat thanks.
I just though I should mention to that this is a mid screen combo. (ie: the opponent must at about mid screen distance). Just an FYI for anyone practising this combo.
@IKEEMBLEM I've heard several reasons from others: Either it's "he's always been there", "I prefer Akuma/Dante/etc.", or just people cant keep up with his pacing on combos in comparison to others.
@NeoSZboy I cant stand tiers. All it ends up in is fighting maybe 7 differant fighters all the time online. That means no diversity and that means no fun. Im sick of fighting Sentinel in 90% of my matches, same for storm and magneto.
@NeoSZboy Wesker maybe, but the other two not so much lol. People want Dante nerfed because they get styled on by a 90 hit combo with no assists, but to be honest, you do the same damage in 8 hits with Thor. =/ And I think Sentinel is perfect. Why sit there for 20 seconds watching a mega long high damage combo happen, when Sentinel will give you the courtesy of shortening it down to 3 seconds. I love fighting Sentinel. ^ ^
@IKEEMBLEM Pheonix dies from flies landing on her because not only does she have 2 healthbars, both pheonix and DP have healing field. Instant red health regen without tagging out. >.>
@IKEEMBLEM Yeah, so did I, but that does not make him good. The computer is easy, and there are characters that far outdo him. You must be knew to the competitive scene.
@Zimx02 Ive been in the pas 3 EVO tournamens and a member of The Fighters Generation, I know plenty. Ryu is a underrated character who I enjoy using and is rock solid with good stats and can hold his own against any other character in the game.
@IKEEMBLEM He's got no approach, poor mobility, relatively poor hitboxes, no otgs outside of shinku, sub-par assist. He's deals great damage, so he's usually just a niche character. Alone, he's entirely a mindgames character (which is why I've always loved the character), but that just means that you have to be better than your opponent, and you're always walking on thin ice; any other character with omnipresent hitbox (like all of them) and a good assist can counter him. Middlelow tier at best.
@Zimx02 He is indeed a mindgames character and when using him, using partners with good assists is key. Storm and Wolvering are good choices since if they are blocked it will push the opponet in the corner. Use your partners until the their guard breaks or opens up then rush in with Ryu and the fight will likely be over right there.
@IKEEMBLEM Although I do love using Ryu on my team, I can vouch for anyone that he does have some pretty hindering issues to where in a real competitive scene he just gets blown away. Also the computer on any fighting game isn't something to go by when talking about an individual's skill level. An example of a really good character in this game would be something more like Chun-Li or Spencer. Those two along with Wesker will probably be my new team soon as well.
@IKEEMBLEM i think its cuz when people first play as him they dont really know how to use him to his full potential. hes has all these great moves...like an unexperienced player with him would say hes tool slow and broken. but hes really a great character. i love using him
People don't like him 'cause he doesn't have great mobility, and his range is medium-poor. He's a great character, indeed, but if the player doesn't know how to get in, he's useless.
@IKEEMBLEM People see Akuma and automatically think he's better, which is not the case. Akuma has stronger attacks and may have the strongest lvl 3 (does 485,000 dmg) But Akuma is slower and a bit harder to use. Akuma's Aerial Tatsumaki Zankyukyaku does not hover like Ryu's, plus Ryu's Shinku Hadouken has more areas to aim then Akuma's Mesattsu Gohadou. It really all depends on the person.
@ZXShadow1 I don't agree with some of the things you're saying. Akuma IS faster than Ryu, he has the fastest walk speed in the game, and his normals are obnoxiously fast. Ryu has better hitbox oriented normals. Yes Ryu's Tatsu floats, but it's not safe at all in the air, whereas Akuma's are. Akuma is suited for the diehard rush down players, he's definitely more difficult to use than Ryu who is user friendly to all levels of play. Not to mention his SIMPLE punish combos do 400K+ with no effort.
@DoubleAsian616 Well, you're probably right about the speed thing. And yeah, it really does depend on the person playing. (I never really tried to compare their speed, so I just assumed Akuma was slower). And yeah, Ryu's combos are very good, very good for beginners. But like I said before, people see Akuma and automatically think he's better, and that Ryu is useless compared to Akuma. Which is not the case. Did you know that their buffing him up in UMvC3?
@ZXShadow1 "Most" people jumped on the band wagon when MVC3 was released. They assume things because of appearances. And yeah, I'm well aware Ryu is getting buffed. He's probably the 2nd most imrproved character next to Capt America. I use Ryu extensively on one of my teams. Ryu Magneto Wesker., with Mag's Hyper Grav assist, Ryu is opened up to wonders of combos, and with a nice OTG by wesker, it makes for a solid relaunch. I can probably do a 32-hit combo, no meter. About 600K.
@DoubleAsian616 Yes pretty good team. Right now, I'm trying to experiment with teams for a bit. But before my team was Felicia, Zero, and Akuma. And I used Zero's Shippuga assist to help Felicia extend her combos often.
God i still can't figure out how you play this fucking game.Everytime i try to use Ryu's shroyuken it does hadoken i can't even get that far...most confusing fighting game ever. i will still with Tekken /Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat thanks.

I guess rather than people being original with there teams, they much rather pick characters that everybody else is using and just mash away
NeoSZboy 9 months ago
@NeoSZboy They should just balance everyone, health i dont mind but getting killed in 5 hits by sentinel when im pheonix is bull
IKEEMBLEM 9 months ago
@IKEEMBLEM
It's actually pretty balanced, I say that the ones that need some more blancing is Dante, Sentinel, and Wesker

not as much movement as akuma. worse fireballs than akuma. no otg. can be a little bland. no airdash.
good but not akuma good and you have to make every single hit count.

@MrSteelersfan54 well his circle version hadouken is cheap, I almost never use it, i always do launch combos with his shoryuken and tastsumaki.
