I personally love the finnish language, I am austrian and I learn it actually!
I personally think blonde mikko looks like a prettier young version of Andy Warhol and I mean that thoroughly as compliment since Warhol is my fav.artist! Anyone agree?
Wow, what a discussion here about the Finnish language. I can't believe what I'm reading. :) For me it's a very beautiful, yet difficult, language. I'm Romanian and I'm trying to learn Finnish just because I love how it sounds, honestly. Moreover, even though Romania and Finland do not have may things in common, especially related to culture or history, I know several Romanians who speak Finnish fluently and who are truly passioned about Finland and anything related to it. :)
the thing is, im swedish and to us the finnish language sounds more a kid cursing dispite his add-like addiction to vocals ^^ so no, what i ment with my comment was that its fantastic of Regina to make a song in finnish sound beautiful.
and that song you linked to, since i dont understand finnish it sounded like any random popsong from eurovision 1992. im sorry.
@STRIDSPILOT That is second time i hear a swede telling that some finnish artist is good because she can make finnish sound beautiful..hahaha quite arrogant! ;)
@STRIDSPILOT yes you are honest about your own opinion, but it is arrogant to make such a generalization that finnish sound to all non-fins ugly, vulgar and rough. It is only your lack of understanding, and i dont mean understanding as knowing the language, but more understanding the spirit and the rythm of the language.
Mostly i just found your comment funny, because i feel it is very sweedish to give a compliment and hide an insult in it. ( i have many sweedish friends) ;)
I think that you now experience somewhat of a glitch between the language barriers and its completely understandable since the fins dont really see english as their second or even third language, something that we in sweden have done for over 5 decades now.
What you see as an insult is only common sense, ask anyone from any other country and you will get this answer... if you were a travelling soul you would know this.
@STRIDSPILOT okei i hope that you are not travelling around the world asking people how finnish sounds for them. i would guess that me as finnish speaker has heard a lot more opinions about how i sound. It is true that finnish is many times referred as rough language, but that is only one side of the truth. Regina and the language sounds amazing here, but it is not at all extraordinary for finnish to sound like this. Finnish is so multilayered and flexible that you can do amazing thing with it.
@STRIDSPILOT but im sorry that i said you were arrogant it was bad choise of word and it is nice that you like the song ;) and you dont know anything about how travelling my soul is or not. ;)
@STRIDSPILOT The Finnish language has pretty much more vowels in every day speech then any other. Most finns speak pretty softly and it has lots of pleasant rolled r's. Don't understand what you mean at all, I've never heard anyone say anything of the sort, in fact, quite the opposite.
Swedish has always sounded rougher to me, but at least they are not Danish :)
@STRIDSPILOT If you want to hear some Finnish singing that really won't conform to your expectations, try looking up the song 'Valo tihkuu kaiken läpi' by Paavoharju
or try some Eleanoora Rosenholm or Scandinavian Music Group for more pretty singing.
@STRIDSPILOT Well, if you like the language, here's one song where you can actually hear it :D It's an awesome song in it's simplicity. Add this to the end of youtube adress
I've listened to this maybe 15 times already... today. I just love the piano, and the combined voice-trumpet-thing. And her smile at the end. And the enthusiasm of the guys behind the piano.
She sings, "Pidä nurkkapöytä ikkunan vieressä vapaana", meaning something like "reserve the corner table next to the window" - although it *could* be said, judging from the lyrics and the general atmosphere of the song, that the person in the song isn't doing well, no.
haha, you're right! She sings Finnish and I know only 'tervetuola' and 'perse' but it sounds great. I heard also some sounds in this song which have meaning in Czech or Croatian - Laske ku mene - come here, my love. ( I suppose)
However I like very much this song. Thanks for some information
the music is different and VERY interesting ... it is great, that someone can introduce new ideas. This makes me happy ... the way to sing is absolutely cute ;)
They sound so wonderfully different from the other stuff one can hear on the Finnish radio stations... The music in this country sounds do frickin' MANUFACTURED, so hearing something like this gives me such a refreshing feeling.
is there anyway to buy this song on itunes? I checked and couldn't find it, but I'm hoping that I did something wrong, cause I really want to own this song.

To make that into this is nothing short of genious...
