Will Sandra Fluke endorse a favorite sexual position? Canada has an official sexual position - doggy style - that way they both can watch the hockey game together.
So the Supreme Court decided that GM, Exxon, GE, et.al., are actually PEOPLE...you know... like ME...Fair enough... in return, all these "new" people can stop paying taxes at the current "corporate" rate...and start chipping in at MY rate...I mean...what's fair is FAIR...
personally i feel slut goes both ways. simply put i don't feel it's good for anyone to have sexual relations with another person unless they are in love and ready. i'm a typical teenage guy and have had both emotional and non emotional sex, the non emotional relations are fun but simply empty. they make good stories but at the end of the day one partner that you care about is far more important and meaningful that 100 that are "just sex".
The defense of "if I'm ready for it, it's ok" is not a defense at all. Notice how the young rebellious girl attempts to justify sluttery by saying "it's nobody's business but your own." This tactic is commonplace today, and false. What is wrong is wrong, if someone tells you that your activity is immoral, its still immoral regardless of whether it is "their business" or not.
Laughable logic...It is NOT your business, and the fact that you have pointed out their sinful ways...and are just really full of yourself...If someone calls you on your holier than thou attitude...Then you received the only reaction that you should heed...MYOB...they don't give a rat's ass WHAT YOU THINK...
@deetjay1 Laughable, your post is laughable. You didn't even construct an argument. All you did is tell me I'm wrong for stating a truth! You say that I have a "holier than thou attitude," which is a typical statement and fallacious justification often issued these days. If I know a truth, I will share it. There's nothing wrong with stating truth. If you truly believe in morals, you ought to share them.
Thanks...I use some caps, sometime, to try breaking through that all enveloping bubble that closed minded people retreat to to avoid considering ANY other opinion NOT their own...but I will try to do better in the future...
@deetjay1 I can taste your hubris. Why do you assume that I don't consider the opinions of others? It is precisely because I have considered all positions that I have arrived at my conclusions. Have you done the same?
You can TASTE my hubris? So you've also read ALL there is out there, and it ALL lines up with your point of view? Firstly...you lie...Secondly...I'm probably older than you, and I HAVE heard it all...I'm still finding new reading material (which reflects many points of view) About "conclusions"...Life concludes...opinions change...
Keep in mind the fact that the girl is talking about sex and supportive of sex, DOES NOT mean she is actually having sex.
There are plenty of straight guys who are supportive of gay rights, which includes gay sex, but they are not themselves having gay sex. One does not equal the other.
Just because you have liberal views does not mean you can not be conservative in your own actions.
A corporate transaction tax only works if it is not passed on to consumers. Which of course it will be. Once again, they get the cash, and we get screwed.
Screw civil...Hit the after burners and start criminal proceedings, and like the drug dogs do, take every asset that isn't nailed down, and THEN lay RICO actions on them and put their sorry asses behind bars...
I is like you read my mind. For crimes on such a grand scale, I do think asset forfeiture is legitimate. If they conspired, then absolutely RICO laws should be applied.
We either have Egual Justice Under the Law, or we have one of two things - Anarchy or Tyranny. Right now it is Tyranny, but that will soon give way to Anarchy if something isn't done.
JFK - Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable.
As a victim of a sex crime (especially as a child), I believe that it sometimes IS about the sexual benefit. I was abused by two people, one that was attracted to me as a child, and one that was a sadist. I didn't act 'slutty', or dress for it (I was 3, for god's sake.), and yet, someone was attracted to me enough to do that.
I believe that the younger we teach children about their bodies, and what is and isn't okay, the better.
@Lets1Eat2The3Chibis If I had been told then "You don't let people touch you there.", then I probably wouldn't have ended up being repeatedly abused. But I grew up in a house where sex was not talked about. Human bodies were not talked about. I found it all out for myself later on, and discovered that, no, that isn't supposed to happen.
Children KNOW about sex, whether you teach them or not. Let them know, for their protection.
Why dont you just tax capital gains on a sliding scale just like income.
So if you make 20 million a year you dont just pay 3 million in tax. You pay 8 million(40%).
Sure these guys could just not sell shares that year, or space out the selling of shares... but they have to sell it eventually, we are talking about guys like Romney that make 100 million of it each year. They can't just say, this year i choose not payout out my 100 million.
I need to hear people talk about "slut shaming" in relation to the fact that women can have sex nearly anytime they want (single) and the social and emotional intel, and status it takes for a man to have sex nearly anytime he wants (single).
The man has to ENTER the woman's body, thus the woman "gives permission". Woman have much greater biological and other consequences each time she has sex than men do.
We can't compare the 2 sexes on this issue, but I hope we move away from "slut shaming"
@tonylove16 typical, a guy gets this; women don't ---- Women are not Men; and Men are not women; and for some reason this point never makes it into these conversations and debates; this is why manwhore does not sting a man, as much as calling a woman a slut does - because it IS different; and it's NOT the same; It's harder for a man to sleep with 10 women, than for a woman to sleep with 10 men - that's why women should take care of how many guys they sleep with - it's not the same.
I do not like that so many young people practice such dangerous sexual relations but in order for a subject such as this to be a moot point we need all schools across the whole nation to start prepubescent students on a comprehensive sex education course that last at least two school years. PT conferences should deal with the discussion of youth and sexuality.
As far as adults there should be no such thing as too much sex. Only unsafe sex should be shamed. Openness about sex is important.
The point wasn't about giving money - the statute allowed the government to decide which books or magazines or films were 'electioneering.' Elena Kagan actually said that under the law the government could ban books.
Money doesn't equal speech, but criminalizing speech in order to control the flow of money is simply not allowed by the Bill of Rights.
Liberals are every bit as full of sh*t as the Neocons.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Where does this say Congress can regulate speech?
Do cryptofascists understand that newspapers are corporations?
Why the concern for political ads, but not the massive $ in lobbying - How much $ does AIPAC spend?
Citizens United didn't create the idea corporations are people. Leftists are showing their hatred for free speech here. The statute struck down in Citizens United was struck down because it gave the power to the government to {selectively} ban books, movies, films...
The First Amendment says 'Congress shall make no law' - there is no speaker reference. So the New York Times - a corporation - has an immunity from abridgement, not a "right" to speech.
Man-bashing is an widely accepted tradition in our country (sitcoms, stand-up comedy, high school lunch rooms, etc.). No one is saying men are perfect. Slut Shaming is a form of release for males whom have been disappointed, frustrated, confused & humiliated by females in the often unfair dating game, which tends to favor women. Rape's wrong. It's also wrong for women to behave as if men are bad for wanting sex & to tease & manipulate men in selfish ways. Everything has a name. Slut is as does.
@RichWinGate So "bashing" men in the media by portraying a dim witted dad is horrible, but men degrading women and referring to them as less than human is understandable? Lol no wonder you can't get a date!
Humans don't have figurative bodily functions & needs.A person can experience literal emotions. A person is not comprised of people for the purpose of animating said person, nor for any other purpose. Corporations are not human.
you all are fucking stupid! men are shamefully just as "slutty" and the world needs to recognize that society is allowing the perpetuation of a male/top kind of view that men should boast about there sexual conquests and belittle women for wanting (NOT in all cases!) to explore there sexuality. I for one believe this starts with a major change in the way we raise and teach our children!!!
@20:00 What everyone seems to be missing is that buying and selling of "money"/shares/stock/bonds/etc is a purely inflationary practice since no additional product is created out of the profit from doing so.
@MathewJoki Its coming to the point where their billions of dollars of fantasy money runs the show and our paychecks that we exist on evaporate on receipt. We know its criminal, they know its criminal, those we elect to prevent crime benefit from it.
and finally, the reason slut walks happen is because that has literally been used as a defence in court. "Well she looked like a slut and was asking for it, so it wasn't rape" little more important than reclaiming the word
@RoibeardMacDubthaigh Here's a rather lengthy article about the larger society implications
I think we may have a misunderstanding, I said USED as a defence, as in, the defence said it in court, it was always ultimately unsuccessful, and rightfully so, but that people would even hold that belief is disgusting enough to merit action.
"Rape culture may have been a poor choice of words, but that girl is right.Calling someone a slut dehumanizes a person in the eyes of anyone who buys into the idea. Once a person is dehumanized, of course it's going to be easier to justify ANYTHING you do to that person. So although this idea of a "rape culture" does nothing but fuel opposition to the idea of protecting these young girls (I bet Limbaugh would have a heyday with it), what this girl is saying is spot-on. Slut shaming IS dangerous.
There's a huge disconnect between the sides of the arguments. There needs to be people with better grasp of the basics of their own argument and how it relates to the other side's argument. And while I don't agree the libertarian, the others were kind of ganging up on him because they were unable to reach deep enough in their shared values to make their point across. There could also be a better balance.
@XenoHosting Having a 13 year old discussing the widespread and deep rooted bullying going on schools is perfectly legitimate; because it has to do with sexual issues, that is NOT a good reason to label it as disgusting and inappropriate... These are real issues that real young people are experiencing; we need to be discussing and helping wherever we can.
@mitchells00 What you call bullying I call normal teenage behavior, kids acting like kids nothing more. This is not new or cutting edge and again is hardly news worthy, bullying has gone on since the beginning of human society. Good parenting takes care of the whole issue, on the bullied side and the bullying side. Grow up and leave the dram back in high school.
And rape culture is a cornerstone of feminist theory. It's not just something this kid made up. There are lots of scholarly people that acknowledge the existance of rape culture.
I can't believe these people are shocked by a thirteen year old talking about sex. If I was a parent I would so proud that my child had such mature views on sex and was able to talk openly and intelligently about the topic. Being knowledgeable about sex is not hypersexualization. That's bullshit. If anything, they exemplify the girl's point that sex has a stigma of being "bad" or immoral. Their acessment of her video was just ageist, sexist and completely missed the point.
I dislike this video. You need to bring in more women talkers to discuss a women's issue. Also, all the men completely missed the point about slut shaming and why women are being called sluts. The older guy on the left even chuckled when Cenk said they're gonna be talking about Slut Shaming. How insane
@soorms07 You're kidding right? Other countries with socialized medicine have just as expensive healthcare, more expensive actually, and the quality is worse.
There was a bigger percentage of people getting healthcare before the social programs and they received cheaper and better care! Also nobody owes you ANYTHING, especially not healthcare.
@antonio3p1 100% fact free talking right there. Tell me which country spends more as a percentage than the USA? Which country receives worse care? Go do some research. And come talk to me when you're older.
@soorms07 Look at Scandinavia. More people might receive care but the cost is much greater and therefor the quality of care you can get for 100.000 $ here is much better than what you can get for 100.000 $ there. Why? Because the government has prompted up the demand which allows the hospitals to raise prices because the government is going to by it anyway.
@antonio3p1 Still 100% fact free. Do some more research, you know by respectable organizations. Or hell, just Google "Scandinavia Healthcare" and tell me what you see.
WHO Healthcare rankings: Norway 11, Iceland 15, Sweden 22, Finland 31, Denmark 34. Do you know where the USA ranks on the list? USA: 37! Behind every major Scandinavian country.
@soorms07 The only thing they take into account in that study is the % of people receiving care and how good those public hospitals are at treating you, but tehy don't take the price into account.
@antonio3p1 I think you know what I'm going to say... That's the problem with people like you. You have strong opinions, but no facts to back them up. You're entitled to your opinions, but opinions should be backed up with facts.
How about you answer my previous question asking which country spends more than us as a percentage of their GDP and has a lower quality of care? And answer with some facts and sources rather than just testimony!
@soorms07 I don't have time to go look up any studies. By the way I have plenty and way more facts to back up my argument that you do.
All my economic opinions are backed up by the great work of economist like Ludwig Von Mises, Thomas Sowell and Milton Friedman.
You can see it throughout all world history. Anything that the government does will simply be less effective and more expensive than the private market.
I don't know which country uses the highest percentage of their GDP. Tell me!
Europe's economy is spiraling downward because of right wing austerity policies. Northern Europe doesn't get enough credit yet for how succesful it is, especially the co-decision councils, or other forms power-sharing with workers within companies. Northern European countries have the highest taxe rates in the world but also occupy some of the top rankings in the global competitiveness index. James Poulos is totally ignorant.
I am really thankfull for the work of The Young Turks. The media has the purpose to critizise and controll the politicians and the political output. The mainstream media, leaded by fox news, doesnt do this at all - the young turks do and i appreciate this very much even though i am not living in the USA
If bank robbers are not helping the economy, then why do they make so much money? When this country was created, the speculators were hung in public. They are financial raiders and they never create jobs.
I love how a 13 years old know more and have a smarter opinion on that subject than 4 grown ups. As always, TYT fails when they get out of their economical, juridical and political comfort zone. They really should invite guests with social and psychological knowledge when that kind of questions comes on the table.
Look I would like to start by saying that I am in no way putting any blame on the girls who get assaulted like this. The idea is that these predators are looking for a victim so dressing provocatively will catch there attention and maybe making that person there preferred victim.
More points like the last one, I'm honestly tired of hearing about 99 vs 1%, corporate control of government etc... I know its all true and important but I already know all about that stuff so its boring
@PurpleFusilier they weren't doing great but it was Wall St that fucked up Europe with their sub prime fake bullshit fraud loans. The saying that all problems in the world right now originate in USA is not far from the truth.
"It's like they don't even know the meaning behind their words. And that's the thing, they don't know." Talk about "The Point"! A micro example of a macro problem. The number one reason why people can't think clearly or articulate our thoughts clearly. It's also why we are so easily manipulated via bs. Our #1 learning disability. To fix this is to fix education.
My last point, it's sad that they can't see how far we have slid. Our new found M.M.A.love, our need to live on the deepest secrets of our peers as fodder for water cooler chats, I'm just sad for us. As Cenk should have said, (and I love this guy,) But "Of COURSE" it's a rape culture, come on honey, your 18 now pose for my girls gone wild movie and i'll make sure it f*@K's up your whole life, and the ones of us who jerk off too it, we just want to keep it coming, forgive the pun.. Sad,Sad,Sad...
Crap, that guy thinks prescriptions are going up from need, crazy and untrue. The drive is to get more and more kids on meds and a quick check of the net will pull up so much info about it so we know its true, James, you are off base on most of what you said. We all could be the have's. But we keep telling each other we should be the have everything's. Bump off just a few yacht owner and we all get a couple trips to the lake each year and that aint bad.. Real life rewards, not a kings riches
damn, takes a 13 year old to tell people whats up. Good for her and knowing the truth. Not hip to 13 year old sex, but i'm old and it seems sick, but I forget how ready I was at the same age. This time I'll go with what I know to be true and not what I've seen over 45 years of life. The kid is dead right and shame on anyone not understanding that her teaching this truth is much better for us then any shot we take at her own age. good for being ahead of the curve. Stay safe and smart kid.....
I'd vote for Ron Paul, I get the libertarian position, but every single time I see a libertarian on TV I see an idiot/sellout. Are there any libertarians out there who bother learning facts? Read the CBOs scoring of bills? Know anything of how shit ACTUALLY works?!
Libertarianism is a simplistic ideology that tries to find a common solution for every problem imaginable. Oh boy, if only the real world was so simple..
It's the problem with Republicans in general, they always go with the easy to understand one liner ideologies so dumb people can follow it. "Less government" is a good example. There are plenty good programs that help society and cause economic growth. But Reps want to cut those anyway just to stay true to their simplistic ideology.
WRONG! DEMAND generates jobs. Anyone can start a business and be successful if there is enough demand to support it. I'm so sick and tired hearing people call the ultra wealthy "job creators". If they close their doors 4 or 5 mom and pop stores and small businesses will take their place as long as there is ample demand....period.
But someone sane holding an opposing/republicans/conservative view should also be invited to defend his views. If they don't this brilliant discussion shall turn into circlejerk after couple of months.
I like that they had a libertarian. He is a good example of how most libertarians views are colored by arbitrary axioms of human behavior that they are unwilling to change. By holding that they have the only unique truthful understanding of humanity they don't need evidence or rational thinking. This understanding lets them boil down every issue into a rigid black and white decision.
As the saying goes: for every problem there is a simple solution and it is always wrong.
I think people should be allowed to dress however the hell they want and we just need to tell people to grow up about it. I am a guy and I think if for some reason I wanted to walk down the street naked that should be fine, we all have bodies I see no problem with nudity as long as it is non-sexual.
@SuperBenzid What are you talking about? How do you suppose women can be naked on the streets without it being sexual :/ Are you unaware of how nature works?
I dont think this is a very good idea as long as Herman Cain and Newt are still walking around.
@SIC66SIC66 Of course they can. Being naked isn't anymore sexual than being clothed, there nothing inherently sexual in it. I am not saying everyone should do it or something, it would just be nice to live in a society grown up enough that it wouldn't be a big deal.
At the moment we as a society teach guys that it is okay to objectify and act like a bunch of idiots everytime they see an attractive woman. But if we stopped pushing that message constantly then nudity would not be a problem.
@SuperBenzid I agree its stupid how men and women are depicted in music video's and all over the tv and stuff, I think thats a big part of the problem.
But I do have to disagree with being naked has nothing sexual. We are animals like every other. And if every woman was naked, you can be SURE some men cant help themselves and go for it :D
Its just nature man, we are programmed to be attracted to women, preferably naked :)
In regards of the Banks in City of London, the British are self-serving greedy bastards. Who cares, if the banks fuck everybudy in the world, as long as you get a share in taxes? I guess you shouldn't have destroyed your real economy, that actually builds things! And the USA are no different (apart from having at least a viable IT industry).
How can James get away with saying "girls calling each other sluts or guys having a daterape-moment"?
The entire panel agrees that name calling and rape does not have anything to do with each other, however when James talks about the two as if they are the same level of crime none of the other reacts.
Transaction Tax: I am a progressive, but proposals to tax trading is taxing free enterprise and is wrong. You will put a lot of middle class traders out of business as these are they guys that will be the real losers not the big hedge funds as they can afford this tax. Another dumb idea of liberals.
To deal with wealth inequality we should just have an appropriate progressive tax structure not dream up more transaction taxes to slow down the econcomy.
I left my car overnight in a parking lot, with keys in the ignition. It was a bad neighborhood, lots of crime. By the morning the car was stolen. Am I not to be blamed partially for this incident?
@mcbob628 You misogynistic little shit. Walking home from the shops at 7pm is not equatable to you being braindead enough to leave your keys in the ignition of your car. I know! Here's a conundrum for you. You get sent to jail for night for lets say, protesting. You get raped in prison. You're to blame for that right? After all, it was your decision that led to you being in the vicinity of a racist.
@SarahB360 yes i agree with you, if it was my decision to go to prison and put myself in a rape-prone environment, i would be responsible 4 getting raped...somewhat at least!
I wasn't talking about girls that walk home from work, unless they work at hooters. lol. hooters.
I am talking about girls that dress slutty, hang around dumb thugs (or walk through a bad neighborhood). get raped, and then complain. don't you think she's at fault even a little bit for walking through a bad neighborhood.
@SarahB360 that being said, I am not taking the blame of the men, ofcourse, OFCOURSE!! the man is more at fault, and should be punished. I am not saying that the women should be punished for being raped, it's a question of responsibility.
Now madam, using insulting rhetoric and ad hominem attacks only make me wonder whether your intellectually capable of debating with me, herp derp fuck u i hate women such my wanga wang
@DesBlackmore Listen to yourself. You are comparing the robbery of a house to rape. The two things have completely different dynamics at work - a robber does what they do generally for monetary gain. A rapist is a predator who forces power over the victim. Also a skilled robber can rob even a locked house - someone with motivation and intent will break through the door. A rapist, being a predator, will actively hunt for a victim regardless of how they dress.
@DesBlackmore You took my words out of context and misunderstood what they meant - rape is about power, not sex; as in, power is the real reason and sex is the means. You are making a fundamental misunderstanding about the psychological dynamics of sexual violence and it is leading to you incorrectly blaming the victim. You talk of rape as if it were a matter of the victim half-consenting by dressing a certain way - they do no such thing because rape is about violation of a victim.
@DesBlackmore Hypocrisy and putting words into my mouth I said rape is about power, not sex - as in power is the real reason why rape is committed; power over the victim. Forced sex is the means by which this act of violence is committed. You have immediately pre-judged me based on only a snippet of text I have stated - there is little point in arguing with someone as intractable and judgemental as you.You pre-judge me the way you apparently pre-judge victims instead of trying to understand.
@DesBlackmore You are an idiot. The way a person dresses has nothing to do with whether or not they will be raped. Rapists look for targets of opportunity - rape is about power, not sex. It is a myth that rapists go after women who dress a certain way - the reality is that the rapist tends to go for whoever they are sure will not fight back. Who they target is usually quite random and could be anyone - so long as the rapist has power over them to commit the rape.
@DesBlackmore For any crime, people could sit around coming up with things the victim should've done to protect themselves. Parked car smashed in a hit and run? Shouldn't have been on the street. Shot in a home invasion? Should've had an alarm system. In this society people find reasons to blame rape victims because they just don't want to believe that men who we interact with in everyday life would do something so hurtful. Or they want to deny that they themselves are those men.
I love it when conservatives crap all over Europe, say how bad they're doing, how unsustainable their system is, etc etc, when America is doing worse.
Cenk, I'm a huge fan of all your shows, but the dialogue and subsequent exchange you had with your panel on the subject of the 13 year old girl was, as you would say, DISASTROUS. I'm starting to realize our generational differences... you were raised at a time in which the spheres of men and women primarily intersected on a romantic basis. Intellectual conversation on the subject of women with a woman (on a level of equals) is unfamiliar to you, as evident by the superficiality of your response.
@DesBlackmore And the man who chooses to use predatory tactics, like separating a woman from her friends, telling a woman she's drinking less alcohol than she really is, targeting a woman he's met before, so that she'll be less nervous to be alone with him? Or, like with the NY cops Kenneth Moreno and Franklin Mata, what about when a woman's friendly neighbor calls police officers, who are paid to keep people safe, who then repeatedly rape the woman because they think she won't remember?
I find it amazing how the perception of age affects how people treat others' ideas. If she were 18 the conversation would be COMPLETELY different. They admitted that her being only 13 made them feel uncomfortable seeing her talk about sex. They are being prejudiced against her and her opinions because of her age. The prejudice assumes naivete.
Furthermore, she's right about rape culture, but failed to mention an example. Look at the middle eastern cultures. They fit her description to a T
@Anonymityisdead1984 well 13 year olds shouldnt post videos about sex because the only people that aren't made uncomfortable by it are child predators and other 13 year olds.
@Anonymityisdead1984 No, Slut Shaming was the topic...Slut Shaming as we all know is set by Western people, and I bet she was talking based in her, short, experience with the American teens. Every data would suggest that today, both men and women are maturing later and later, so question is, why would you hurry up sex..and worst, lots of it with different men?
@Anonymityisdead1984 If a woman has the maturity of a girl (her speech ability does not equals maturity, you can spot that in her rape example), how can you "load" her with "software" (making an analogy with PCs) meant for more mature people (why would you try to install a high end videogame in a Pentium computer?).
@Anonymityisdead1984 see how dumb you are to assume that is in the ME. Why give that example? rape is everywhere, especially in the West. But you are too dumb to see it because the mainstream media reports on problems abroad, not at home. You think women in your country don't need help from this sort of culture? Why don't you help them, instead of bashing foreign countries? Or maybe you don't want to help, you just wanted to spew some hatred. My guess is on the later.
@Anonymityisdead1984 in the context you put it, it makes alot more sense. When I first heard that I was like "wtf is she talking about". I wish she would've elaborated.
@Anonymityisdead1984 My friend rape is more common in the united states than it is in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Tunis, Morocco and Libya. So stop talking out of your ass.
By the way this girl only a few years ago and maybe even still now watched spongebob and fucking nick toons so ya its a little uncomfortable to know she has to be exposed to all this crap shes a smart kid but still a little kid.
@eagles980 First off the countries I listed are for the most part secular and do not adhere to strict interpretation of sharia, that bullshit your implying (shaming the victim) happens as often as it does in your country. The fact that you simply spouted it out of your ass without actually knowing anything on the subject proves your just a common stereotyping over opinionated american jackass. Second do u have any clue what percentage of rapes in the US go unreported? About half!
@kjfhgbkjhfbv Syria and ***IRAQ*** are secular? Yeah, I'll just go ahead and ignore the senseless violence Bashar al-Assad, Syria's resident dictator in chief, has inflicted upon the protesters fighting against his regime and the sectarian religious civil war that is currently taking place in Iraq. You, sir, are full of it.
Also, the vast majority of all rape assaults go unreported here in the U.S., hence my use of the term. There is no real way to estimate the actual numbers.
@eagles980 Iraq is politically secular in the sense that the legal system is not based on sharia and the sectarian violence isn't entirely religiously motivated its like northern Ireland, just 2 sides who r fighting for supremacy. Syria is a very secular nation, Assad is a brutal tyrant and a murderer but very secular. Secular does in no way translate to good neither does religion. My point was that calling the middle east a rape accepting society is racist and ignorant statement and is a load.
@kjfhgbkjhfbv The day I see northern Ireland Christians (not that Muslims are inherently worse) of different denominations launch terrorist attacks on one another in order to suppress a political movement from the previous regime, is the day I say Iraq is similar to Ireland.
On Syria, the country has a dual judicial system of both secular and religious courts. Does that sound secular in any way to you? It's constitution actually *requires* it's president to be Muslim.
@eagles980 1. That has all ready happened. 2. My main point was the countrys are for the most part very secular including that syria banned the burqa. Also u and I know its prettymuch fact that the us president must be a christian.
@kjfhgbkjhfbv Yeah, in the middle ages it sure did. Your point is lost on me because not only am I not blaming Muslim countries for all the problems in the world, I'm giving you a little perspective as to why these countries would have lower reported cases of rape than the U.S.
A. Not much data is collected on the subject, especially in war torn Iraq.
B. Most often, the women receive the brunt of the punishment when it comes to adultery outside and inside of marriage. Look it up.
@kjfhgbkjhfbv Despite all of these facts, you still insist that these countries are secular, when in fact religion dominates the majority of both the political and judicial methods their respective governments operate. Not only that, you resort to the harebrained tactic of assigning a "racist" label upon anyone who disagrees with you. Pathetic. To top it off, you mischaracterized my words to mean that those societies actually accept rape. They're just more likely to report it less.
@eagles980 My point is u try to use the arab culture as a catalyst for every problem and as a way to shit blame away from your country by pointing fingers when really u dont know what your talking about.

personally i feel slut goes both ways. simply put i don't feel it's good for anyone to have sexual relations with another person unless they are in love and ready. i'm a typical teenage guy and have had both emotional and non emotional sex, the non emotional relations are fun but simply empty. they make good stories but at the end of the day one partner that you care about is far more important and meaningful that 100 that are "just sex".

Laughable logic...It is NOT your business, and the fact that you have pointed out their sinful ways...and are just really full of yourself...If someone calls you on your holier than thou attitude...Then you received the only reaction that you should heed...MYOB...they don't give a rat's ass WHAT YOU THINK...
deetjay1 4 days ago
@deetjay1 Laughable, your post is laughable. You didn't even construct an argument. All you did is tell me I'm wrong for stating a truth! You say that I have a "holier than thou attitude," which is a typical statement and fallacious justification often issued these days. If I know a truth, I will share it. There's nothing wrong with stating truth. If you truly believe in morals, you ought to share them.

Lets1Eat2The3Chibis 1 week ago in playlist The Point (Full Shows)
@Lets1Eat2The3Chibis If I had been told then "You don't let people touch you there.", then I probably wouldn't have ended up being repeatedly abused.

We can't compare the 2 sexes on this issue, but I hope we move away from "slut shaming"
tonylove16 3 weeks ago in playlist The Point (Full Shows)
@tonylove16 typical, a guy gets this; women don't ---- Women are not Men; and Men are not women; and for some reason this point never makes it into these conversations and debates; this is why manwhore does not sting a man, as much as calling a woman a slut does - because it IS different; and it's NOT the same; It's harder for a man to sleep with 10 women, than for a woman to sleep with 10 men - that's why women should take care of how many guys they sleep with - it's not the same.
topnetworkersgroup 1 week ago
I do not like that so many young people practice such dangerous sexual relations but in order for a subject such as this to be a moot point we need all schools across the whole nation to start prepubescent students on a comprehensive sex education course that last at least two school years. PT conferences should deal with the discussion of youth and sexuality.
As far as adults there should be no such thing as too much sex. Only unsafe sex should be shamed. Openness about sex is important.

If the government can ban materials created by corporations, then they can ban newspapers from writing editorials, right, liberals?
And no, 'the press' meant the printed word - the guy in his garage cranking out pamphlets, not professional journalists only.
Cenk - will you take your head out of your ass? The Citizens United opinion did not say either that corps are people, or that money = speech.
I'm so tired of the mediocrity, ignorance, and rhetorical legerdemain of 'experts.'

RoibeardMacDubthaigh 4 weeks ago in playlist The Point (Full Shows)
Citizens United didn't create the idea corporations are people.
Beware those who'd ban books...

Slut is as does.

soorms07 1 month ago
@soorms07 Look at Scandinavia. More people might receive care but the cost is much greater and therefor the quality of care you can get for 100.000 $ here is much better than what you can get for 100.000 $ there. Why? Because the government has prompted up the demand which allows the hospitals to raise prices because the government is going to by it anyway.

It's the problem with Republicans in general, they always go with the easy to understand one liner ideologies so dumb people can follow it. "Less government" is a good example.

SuperBenzid 1 month ago in playlist Favorite videos
@SuperBenzid What are you talking about? How do you suppose women can be naked on the streets without it being sexual :/ Are you unaware of how nature works?
I dont think this is a very good idea as long as Herman Cain and Newt are still walking around.
SIC66SIC66 1 month ago
@SIC66SIC66 Of course they can. Being naked isn't anymore sexual than being clothed, there nothing inherently sexual in it. I am not saying everyone should do it or something, it would just be nice to live in a society grown up enough that it wouldn't be a big deal.
At the moment we as a society teach guys that it is okay to objectify and act like a bunch of idiots everytime they see an attractive woman. But if we stopped pushing that message constantly then nudity would not be a problem.
SuperBenzid 1 month ago

To deal with wealth inequality we should just have an appropriate progressive tax structure not dream up more transaction taxes to slow down the econcomy.

rape!
victim - woman
criminal - man
fault - man
blame - man and woman
why?
I left my car overnight in a parking lot, with keys in the ignition. It was a bad neighborhood, lots of crime. By the morning the car was stolen. Am I not to be blamed partially for this incident?
mcbob628 1 month ago in playlist Favorite videos
@mcbob628 You misogynistic little shit. Walking home from the shops at 7pm is not equatable to you being braindead enough to leave your keys in the ignition of your car. I know! Here's a conundrum for you. You get sent to jail for night for lets say, protesting. You get raped in prison. You're to blame for that right? After all, it was your decision that led to you being in the vicinity of a racist.
SarahB360 1 month ago
@SarahB360 yes i agree with you, if it was my decision to go to prison and put myself in a rape-prone environment, i would be responsible 4 getting raped...somewhat at least!
I wasn't talking about girls that walk home from work, unless they work at hooters. lol. hooters.
I am talking about girls that dress slutty, hang around dumb thugs (or walk through a bad neighborhood). get raped, and then complain. don't you think she's at fault even a little bit for walking through a bad neighborhood.
mcbob628 1 month ago

Stop blaming victims.
HisEmptyHouse 1 month ago
@DesBlackmore You took my words out of context and misunderstood what they meant - rape is about power, not sex; as in, power is the real reason and sex is the means. You are making a fundamental misunderstanding about the psychological dynamics of sexual violence and it is leading to you incorrectly blaming the victim. You talk of rape as if it were a matter of the victim half-consenting by dressing a certain way - they do no such thing because rape is about violation of a victim.
HisEmptyHouse 1 month ago
@DesBlackmore Hypocrisy and putting words into my mouth I said rape is about power, not sex - as in power is the real reason why rape is committed; power over the victim. Forced sex is the means by which this act of violence is committed. You have immediately pre-judged me based on only a snippet of text I have stated - there is little point in arguing with someone as intractable and judgemental as you.You pre-judge me the way you apparently pre-judge victims instead of trying to understand.
HisEmptyHouse 1 month ago in playlist Favorite videos
@DesBlackmore You are an idiot. The way a person dresses has nothing to do with whether or not they will be raped. Rapists look for targets of opportunity - rape is about power, not sex. It is a myth that rapists go after women who dress a certain way - the reality is that the rapist tends to go for whoever they are sure will not fight back. Who they target is usually quite random and could be anyone - so long as the rapist has power over them to commit the rape.
Victims are NEVER to blame.
HisEmptyHouse 1 month ago in playlist Favorite videos
@DesBlackmore For any crime, people could sit around coming up with things the victim should've done to protect themselves. Parked car smashed in a hit and run? Shouldn't have been on the street. Shot in a home invasion? Should've had an alarm system. In this society people find reasons to blame rape victims because they just don't want to believe that men who we interact with in everyday life would do something so hurtful. Or they want to deny that they themselves are those men.

@DesBlackmore People who prey on other people are the reason rape happens. Period.
Dynamoxie 1 month ago
@Dynamoxie Absolutely. Ignorant morons will blame the victim - but the blame is 100% with the criminal.

Dynamoxie 1 month ago
I find it amazing how the perception of age affects how people treat others' ideas. If she were 18 the conversation would be COMPLETELY different. They admitted that her being only 13 made them feel uncomfortable seeing her talk about sex. They are being prejudiced against her and her opinions because of her age. The prejudice assumes naivete.
Furthermore, she's right about rape culture, but failed to mention an example. Look at the middle eastern cultures. They fit her description to a T

@Anonymityisdead1984 well 13 year olds shouldnt post videos about sex because the only people that aren't made uncomfortable by it are child predators and other 13 year olds.
crackerz99 1 month ago
@Anonymityisdead1984 No, Slut Shaming was the topic...Slut Shaming as we all know is set by Western people, and I bet she was talking based in her, short, experience with the American teens. Every data would suggest that today, both men and women are maturing later and later, so question is, why would you hurry up sex..and worst, lots of it with different men?
chilenozo 1 month ago in playlist Favorite videos
@Anonymityisdead1984 If a woman has the maturity of a girl (her speech ability does not equals maturity, you can spot that in her rape example), how can you "load" her with "software" (making an analogy with PCs) meant for more mature people (why would you try to install a high end videogame in a Pentium computer?).

@Anonymityisdead1984 This sums up exactly what I wanted to say about this clip, thank you.
MrCommentingisfun 1 month ago in playlist Favorite videos

I still disagree though.

@Anonymityisdead1984 My friend rape is more common in the united states than it is in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Tunis, Morocco and Libya. So stop talking out of your ass.
By the way this girl only a few years ago and maybe even still now watched spongebob and fucking nick toons so ya its a little uncomfortable to know she has to be exposed to all this crap shes a smart kid but still a little kid.
kjfhgbkjhfbv 1 month ago in playlist Favorite videos
@kjfhgbkjhfbv Don't you mean it's only reported more commonly? Have you forgotten what happens to Muslim women that accuse men of raping them?
eagles980 1 month ago
@eagles980 First off the countries I listed are for the most part secular and do not adhere to strict interpretation of sharia, that bullshit your implying (shaming the victim) happens as often as it does in your country. The fact that you simply spouted it out of your ass without actually knowing anything on the subject proves your just a common stereotyping over opinionated american jackass. Second do u have any clue what percentage of rapes in the US go unreported? About half!
kjfhgbkjhfbv 1 month ago
@kjfhgbkjhfbv Syria and ***IRAQ*** are secular? Yeah, I'll just go ahead and ignore the senseless violence Bashar al-Assad, Syria's resident dictator in chief, has inflicted upon the protesters fighting against his regime and the sectarian religious civil war that is currently taking place in Iraq. You, sir, are full of it.
Also, the vast majority of all rape assaults go unreported here in the U.S., hence my use of the term. There is no real way to estimate the actual numbers.
eagles980 1 month ago
@eagles980 Iraq is politically secular in the sense that the legal system is not based on sharia and the sectarian violence isn't entirely religiously motivated its like northern Ireland, just 2 sides who r fighting for supremacy. Syria is a very secular nation, Assad is a brutal tyrant and a murderer but very secular. Secular does in no way translate to good neither does religion. My point was that calling the middle east a rape accepting society is racist and ignorant statement and is a load.
kjfhgbkjhfbv 1 month ago
@kjfhgbkjhfbv The day I see northern Ireland Christians (not that Muslims are inherently worse) of different denominations launch terrorist attacks on one another in order to suppress a political movement from the previous regime, is the day I say Iraq is similar to Ireland.
On Syria, the country has a dual judicial system of both secular and religious courts. Does that sound secular in any way to you? It's constitution actually *requires* it's president to be Muslim.
eagles980 1 month ago
@eagles980 1. That has all ready happened. 2. My main point was the countrys are for the most part very secular including that syria banned the burqa. Also u and I know its prettymuch fact that the us president must be a christian.
kjfhgbkjhfbv 1 month ago
@kjfhgbkjhfbv Yeah, in the middle ages it sure did. Your point is lost on me because not only am I not blaming Muslim countries for all the problems in the world, I'm giving you a little perspective as to why these countries would have lower reported cases of rape than the U.S.
A. Not much data is collected on the subject, especially in war torn Iraq.
B. Most often, the women receive the brunt of the punishment when it comes to adultery outside and inside of marriage. Look it up.
eagles980 1 month ago
@kjfhgbkjhfbv Despite all of these facts, you still insist that these countries are secular, when in fact religion dominates the majority of both the political and judicial methods their respective governments operate. Not only that, you resort to the harebrained tactic of assigning a "racist" label upon anyone who disagrees with you. Pathetic. To top it off, you mischaracterized my words to mean that those societies actually accept rape. They're just more likely to report it less.
eagles980 1 month ago
@eagles980 My point is u try to use the arab culture as a catalyst for every problem and as a way to shit blame away from your country by pointing fingers when really u dont know what your talking about.
