Ignorance is used to describe some1 who is so close-minded that they think everything that they do is right and everybody who doesn't do what they do is wrong. Someone who will pass judgement on something without even bothering to try to understand it. Drugs in general can be used responsibly and irresponsibly. If used responsibly they can aid one to a new and better way of understanding life. However if one doesn't need drugs for that, fine. If one does that's fine too. Just respect each other.
"A psychedelic drug is a type of substance that distorts a person's perception of himself and his environment" No shit, any drug by definition alters a persons perception(s).
"People look for refuge in psychedelic drugs to experience a beautiful world which is free from pain, worry, stress or tension, for a brief period, possibly to avoid a nervous breakdown."Sorry this is very untrue, nobody seeks refuge in psyches, that causes a bad trip.To avoid a panic attack?LOLno.It would CAUSEone.
I can't understand someone saying r.i.p George. If there's one thing I can't imagine him doing wherever he is now is "resting". He was always pushing, probing, prodding...I'm sure he's probing the boundries of the universe now :)
A lyrical genius, with a kick and a giggle he gains your trust. With an assault and a good punch he told you how it was. Though some will bash now as they feared him in his physical form. He wouldn't care he'd say fu*k'em, as he has now returned to dust. Yet his Logic lives on...
I like how Belzer compares writing an entire comedy album to writing a novel. It is kind of smiliar - people never think about the fact they write like 60+ minutes of material.
@chapmaned He doesn't believe in an Old Man in the Sky. But he did call "god" The Giant Electron or something like that. He understood that we are all one, and that oneness that permeates through everything is probably what he would call "god" (though he probably wouldn't have....he hated the word god because it could mean too many things- people have preconcieved idea of what god is, so when you use the word they imagine you to be talking about their conception of god).
@mikeisapro It's amazing that I got a response in regards to George Carlin, as just last night I watched a whole bunch of YouTube clips of him...first time in a while as a matter of fact. If I do recall, his contempt of God came about through the Catholic Church. As a Protestant who has studied Catholicism, I completely understand. However, I think that too many people misuse the phrase/concept of ONE. There is a biblical concept, and then there is a "religious" concept. Both are different.
@chapmaned theres a clip on youtube in which he says that "what is there that needs solace seeking? Nothing.Theres nothing to be afraid of because it's all us.The trouble is, we have been separated, by being born and given a name and an identity and being individuated. We've been separated from the Oneness, and that's what religion exploits, the desire to be part of the overall One, again. They exploit that and they call it God, and say he has rules, and it's cruel. You can do it sans God." so..
@mikeisapro What you said confirms what I said. Oneness is a doctrine of the New Ager's, that we are all ONE. The Bible outlines what ONE is much different, and the ONENESS doctrine of the New Ager's was plagiarized by the New Ager's from the Bible, as the New Ager's are a melting pot of all religions. Logic states that the truth to 1+1 is 2. There are not many truths, but just one truth. 3 is not the truth. Btw, There is a huge difference between Catholics and Protestants. Huge.
@chapmaned You can call it New Age and label it that way but man I bet you've never had a powerful psychedelic experience, or even a profound spiritual one without psychedelics (perhaps with meditation or fasting or lucid dreaming, etc) These types of things have made me feel and understand the point of view that "everything is one" or that "we are all one" (We meaning us humans, meaning consciousness, I see it more as "everything is one" because of the experiences ive felt).
@chapmaned I'm sorry to tell you but this is simply ignorance. Ever heard of a shaman? Even earlier than that, animals have always eaten psychoactive things in foods/nature. It wasn't just in the AD1900's and 2000's (lol).
@mikeisapro Dude...you can have your psychedelics to yourself for all I care. What does any of what you said have to do with George Carlin. The only drug he likes is pot.
@mikeisapro Wow, do you need updated info. Yes, he used all of those things and more, as well as being an alcoholic. There is a clip of him in an interview somewhere, where he gave all of it up, except the now and then use of pot. He does NOT recommend any of the aforementioned drugs to anyone, other than pot.
@chapmaned He was pressured by being on a mainstream tv show. The point is they open doors for him. They helped. You can reealy see it in his earlier stuff lol
@mikeisapro I don't respect anyone who does drugs, whether it be for spiritual use, or recreational use. There is no excuse. No one needs to put poison in their bodies, for any reason, unless it is under doctors care and observation for health reasons, in that your body would die, literally, without it. If you can live without it, you don't need it.
@chapmaned Then you must disrespect almost all of humanity. It so happens that humans....really like and are curious/fascinated by drugs! We probably always have been. You smoke cigarettes? Drink coffee? Take a pain pill? Take aspirin/tylenol/ibuprofin? Drink alcohol? All of those are worse drugs than psychedelics/pot. Psychedelic drugs and pot are not addictive and can be very good tools (and you can't/it's hard to OD on). Those other drugs are addictive(except aspirin, etc) and toxic.
@chapmaned My whole point is that psychedelics aren't addictive (OR habitual), yes a lot of legal drugs and some illegal ones are physically addictive and psychologically habit forming, but I try to minimize/moderate using or just flat out not using, those drugs. (I am addicted to nicotine, it's bad for ya alright) But I don't use psychedelics or psychedelic plants very often.at all.
@mikeisapro Ya, right...keep telling yourself that, maybe you just might believe that. If it isn't addictive to you, then you wouldn't be advocating it. Ask those who KICKED THE HABIT about if it is addictive or not. I am sure that they would disagree with you. Talk to those who are current members of N.A. that have been off of it for years. See what they have to say about it. See what children of parents that use have to say about it. You are one selfish S.O.B. who is in total denial.
@chapmaned Nobody KICKS THE HABIT when it comes to psychedelics lol. You are either really misinformed and brainwashed, or just trolling. There is no habit when it comes to psychedelics, nor is there any physical addiction.
@mikeisapro You contacted me, remember? I didn't contact you. However, the people in N.A. and the children of those who are users disagree with you. Your justification is a bunch of lies. I would suggest to you that you visit an N.A. group that have members that are former users. You are only lying to yourself. Anyone that advocates what you advocate, isn't worth a nickles worth of free advice.
@chapmaned Psychedelics aren't a narcotic, NA is for serious shit, I know about it as well as AA (Alcohol is serious too). Psycheelics are serious but not in a harmful physical way.
@mikeisapro "Individuals, who are too much troubled or disturbed due to activities or experiences in their daily lives, look for refuge in psychedelic (that means 'mind revealing') drugs to experience a beautiful world which is free from pain, worry, stress or tension, for a brief period, possibly to avoid a nervous breakdown. A psychedelic drug is a type of substance that distorts a person's perception of himself and his environment." This is from several websites. STOP DISTORTING REALITY.
@chapmaned Nobody is free from drugs in america. There are many, many drugs. Psychedelics don't cause schizophrenia. "Psychotic" effects just means you're tripping; they go away when you're sober. How can you be so ignorant if you are on the internet? Do some homework, Jesus.
@mikeisapro Oh, so you think that "TRIPPING" is NORMAL behavior? You do know what NORMAL is, do you not? You are NOT NORMAL. Anytime anyone tells me that I am ignorant, I say, first of all, that ignorance is bliss, and secondly, that the word ignorant is a flippant word used these days that has no meaning. Just because we don't like something, people assume we are ignorant about it. So take your PSYCHO drugs and shove it up your....
@chapmaned Besides, I said "or even a profound spiritual [experience] WITHOUT psychedelics". They are not the only way to achieve states of mind that allow you to percieve things differently and look at things in other perspectives..
@mikeisapro John Lennon is dead. We gave peace a chance...didn't work. Move on! Cut your hair. Stop wearing that pony tail. Shave. Comb your hair. Trade those sandals for some real shoes. Stop taking flowers to the airport!
Sir Carlin! I really like you. You are the best of the best. I don't find any body like you. You shall remain ever green; your words are ever green. Hope shall having a good time in life hereafter.....
George was not only a comedian, he was like a legend, he did so much stuff for kids and he enjoyed helping kids, he really cared about them (narrating thomas the tank engine, playing the conductor in shining time station) and I remember watching those as a kid, he really put alot of effort into it, like he did for everything. George Carlin truly is a legend, rest in piece and I hope i can meet him if there is an afterlife
Too sad, another great comedian gone, first bill hicks, then richard jeni now the god of stand up himself, makes me feel sad so many great voices of comedy are falling silent one by one, im just glad unlike people we know personally who die we have their albums to always keep us goin
I had a chance to see him once, I wasn't driving yet so I convinced a guy, who at that time, I worked with to go with me. I played all of my favorite George shows for him in the weeks leading up and he seemed to really be getting excited as well! Sad to say, he just didn't see it as ''worth the drive, time, and price of a ticket.
