NEVER buy a advent computer there shit for a start ive had 3 replaced because of the battery and charger failure u will get a broken shorting charger which after awhile will not even charge ur laptop

Iv got one of these switched it to ubuntu 9.04 straight away.

no problems boots up in less than 30 seconds, easily get at least 2 hours battery (thats min) and it runs compiz fusion effects no problem!

my advent got 1gig ram 80gb hdd and it runs at 1.6ghz but in the bios it can overclock to 1.95ghz and it actually runs very fast, also i have downgraded back to xp pro, and it runs like a dual core laptop, believe me i have done a few comparisons, i will try to make a vid soon to prove it

i have the advent 4211 with windows vista home premium and office programs and multimedia stuff and it works perfectly actually a bit faster than xp home so it is a good choice of laptop

you lie, 4211 is no where near powerful enough to run VIsta for prolong periods, the processor aint powerful enough and the RAM is not fast enough, unless you recently had a mainboard changed, then the RAM would have been upgraded. But still, running vista is the worst idea.

I got the 120GB version for £274 at PC world whilst a 80GB version cost £279 at the same store? Running OSX and everything works (even WiFi and Bluetooth) except for the headphone jack and the mic which can be fixed with external ones.

Currys and PC world are owned by the same company. I got my refurbished 4211 120gb for £209, and the 80gb refurbished was £219.

One question though, Im planning on putting OSX on it when it I get the laptop (delivery is on monday) and was wondering what driver you used to get the wifi working? ive found the realtek one, but im not sure if thats it?

well looks as this was the 4211b I have the 4211c which has a juicy 120 gb hard drive, and urm... im pretty sure you can run office on either one since i have office 2007 running on mine along with ALL of my creative packages including web, graphic, and video, i even manage to watch some HD videos... as long as they are below 7mbps so i still can watch my 1920 HD camcorder videos on it :) recorded at 3mbps, if you need some serious answers ask me as I have a 4211c advent NETBOOK.. :) BAD VID BTW

i checked out this model but the poor battery life put me off, otherwise its a nice little netbook,still on top of the list is the asus eee pc 1000H, same processor 1 gig ram and 80 gig hdd 10" screen along with a 1.3mp camera and wireless Nd draft and bluetooth and a 6600ma battery that will last 5-7 hours depending on usage and only 325 in the uk or 400 in the usa
