Thank you for this interview! It does seem silly that you could not talk to the listeners! Valley High School Drama thanks you for all you did for the Thespians! We will miss you on the morning talk show with KGGO radio. Round Guy, you always added a dimension of wisdom paralleled with humor! We thank you for your involvement in the community!
Looking back at the earliest days of radio till now, there was a sweet time of experimentation that progressed into a very recognizable art form. That art has deeply shaped our culture. It is sad that entrenched business has steadily stripped that culture out of it. As RG said, this is something that those in the business have forecast with certainty, just not knowing exactly when. He fixates on the "local" aspect, but what he is really saying is that the fabric of our culture is being eroded,
Gotta love the RG! Very good interview and what he says about the radio industry is spot on. Deregulation by the FCC in the early 90's, along with satilite radio has turned the industry on its head. Local programing is dead. KGGO was a good station back in the 80's, now its the same ol' playlist; over and over and over and over ad nausium. Radio is going to shit and RG's getting canned is one of the results.
