  • MAD MAN

  • This guy's a huge douche.

  • I have a tremendous respect for people like Austin Stevens and Steve Irwin. For those of you who believe he is reckless, perhaps at times he is, but I say the only real thing he is guilty of is passion, passion for snakes and conservation as a whole. Unfortunately he has to do "stunts" like these in order for people to give a shit about the ecosystem and endangered species, for people to recognize how the human race has been destroying the planet for centuries.

  • lol, i thought they meant stone cold steve austin, the wrestler, because they often have snakes! lol

  • my favorite part of the show is how staged it is lmao. scripted, premeditated, etc. however, austin stevens is a herp god.

  • I leave animals alone and they leave me alone.

  • Man city will take him if he/e a good stricker.lol

  • this guy is a fucking joke. And absurd dramatisation, look at those guys with spears - its the dumbest thing i've ever seen in my life Great snake though.

  • Austin stevens was bit my a snouted cobra...

  • did he die?

  • bush masters are rearly seen but when the locals or soldiers like I catch up with this serpent it is quickly taken care of by whatever means necessary, mostly shot at.

  • With all I've seen Austin do, 4 venomous bites over 40 years isn't gonna sway me. He's about 60 now, and has done some pretty awesome things that would impress any herpetologist. Is a person who's been bitten once automatically better than one who's been bitten twice? Come on, to use 4 bites to bring him to a low level is ridiculous. Steve Irwin got into A LOT more accidents with animals. Yet he was revered. You can't convince me, so don't bother trying to post back cuz I won't read it.

  • @capnhawkins

Irwin was NEVER bitten by a venomous snake, something almost no person who works with them can say.

  • Comment removed

  • Ridiculous theatrics. No Bushmaster in the wild would act that calm. They brought that snake directly from a serpentarium. These snakes also have "fangs" on the bottom jaw which do not inject venom, but help to make just the bite alone very painful. Very few people survive a bite from the Bushmaster.

  • why are htey holding the spears at it...

  • @isurfvan They seen chuck norris in the background hiding in the bush

  • @nilagorilla hahahahaha

  • this snake is ( lachesis muta muta)

  • lol then everyone runs away!

  • The annoying sound effects gaved me a headache!!!!

  • Well he shouldn't of wore that shirt bright color..

  • Austin Stevens has a great show but he over does it with his "Hollywood Acting" !!!

  • It's so clearly staged, the entire program.

    Great entertainment though.

  • the snake was staged

  • i want to watch for where he find biggest, fatest, heavist, snake ever

he saw it in a forest at a water stream hiding

  • Yeah, I agree with most people. The snakes are great, but Austin Stevens is a major douchebag with how he does his show.

  • Very well said.

  • @M44resto,

He is a wannabe Steve Irwin (or vice versa depending on which man started it first).

Sadly, this type of mockery is the only way to get the mainstream public to take interest in wildlife.

  • i like watching him take pictures

  • Its amazing to see, a venomous snake is never afraid, because it know it can do somethings to the enemy with its poison.

  • ddeward ur a fag he does a great job i doubt u could do that and he dosent hurt the snake either .... lol the guys with the spear are scared and hes not

  • I think these people make these snakes look much meaner and "evil" than they are. I love snakes, even the venomous ones, and I've come across factual errors both in this guy and Irwins's presentations. They seem more interested in the sensational parts of these animals - how deadly etc. They provoke them and the snake is 'bad tempered' etc...just gives snake a worse rap than they already (unjustly) have.

  • A bushmaster is one of the most deadly snakes on the planet. They named an assault rifle after it! If anything it showed sympathy for poisonous snakes as it didn't immediately try to bite him.

  • OK, YOU handle a 7' bushmaster and we'll critique your performance. Maybe we'll even film the poop in your pants.

  • you're retarded...

  • This guy is no Steve Irwin.

  • Austin is equally as good as Steve Irwin was

  • I don't think he was. Austin used a mechanic prong to gain advantage over a snake, Steve only used whatever stick he found on the ground, if he had a stick/twig within arm's retch, that and he was never bitten on film by something that was venomous.

  • Part of that, was Steve's knowledge that using a metal prong would invite you to use it, and in doing so you could end up injuring the animal's vertebrae.

  • And yes him walking away after getting bit twice amuses me. He looks death in the face for whatever crazy reasons he has. Some ppl go skydiving and he does this. And if you think that any animals died or are phased by his big dumb ass you are sadly mistaken. These snakes are predators. They have encounters all the time; some of them get eaten by other animals. You PETA people should focuss on real offenders, like your countries foodindustries, whalefleets, etc, instead of bitching at this guy.

  • Some of you ppl are acting like he's the animals worst enemy. Meanwhile if it weren't for shows like this ppl might not care or know about animals. You're acting like he slaughters these animals. He catches them and lets them go. He risks his life for his passion. Like Steve Irwin did aswell btw. He takes risks you and I would not take. You can judge him, but he does more good than bad with the shows he makes. He creates awareness in whatever questionable way that might be in your opinion.

  • Awesome! Love Austin Stevens, the real Indiana Jones! Thanks for posting.

  • The Bushmaster believe it or not isnt really that toxic compared to some snakes but it dumps a hideous amount of venom into its victim which is why its so dangerous.

Its not a snake to fool around with thats for sure.............unless your a bad ass like Austin Stevens

  • this snake is a bad sonofabitch in my birth country. it's known as a man killer. so big and SO poisonous and SOOOO aggressive. not scared of ppl. it WILL attack.

those natives are like "who's this crazy white guy?" LOL

  • he probably just got out of a cooler ...slow him down

so nature boy can get his glamour shot.

observe, don't touch should be the rule.

  • i just watched this episode today so awesome

  • good GOD what a badass i saw him get bit by a poisonous snake on that show yesterday and go back on the hunt the very same day

  • wat a legend

  • I hate this douchebag. Cant wait to see him getting bit in the face by a black mamba so all his shit can fall off. Leave.The.Poor.Animals.Alone.

  • hey Austin ,how would like to be hung by your feet like that snake ?

  • GREAT ENDING!

  • I hate this sucker. He's very rough snake handler.

  • I know these things are always set up but this one takes the fuckin piss.

  • why the fuck would you get that close?????

  • in trinidad the bushmaster and ferdelance is called mappapire

  • but they are different snakes, they can not have the same name

  • This is probably my favorite snake. The colors are bright, and I love the traingular shape.

  • Serious snake.

    WOW!!

    Beautiful deadly.

    Largest pit viper.

holy grail snake in C/S America.

  • ccccccccc

  • my favourite snake is the copperhead=) so beatyfull and clever hides in the leaves=)

  • yep

is very beautiful and not such extremely venemous

  • @hoffmann9471 yes they are/....the most poisonous of all vipers

  • is there going to be more episodes coming

  • i love this chap. i want his job, or do i?

  • For as big as that bushmaster was, he was a lil careless at moments. They are found in too remote of places to be showboating around with.

  • if my job is to take pictures of the snakes..ill nail them first before taking shots..hell no messing with snakes..

  • I'm not sure I like how this is portrayed: White Snake Master pushes through throng of scared natives to tame the wild Bushmaster. It seems more than a little contrived (and a bit colonial?)

Still, he's got some balls to handle that thing.

  • When I went on Colombia, people told me about a enormous pitviper called ''Surucucu''. Is it the same snake?

But he is not particulary dangerous, compared to a bothrops or a Cobra, but he doesnt have rattle...it's strange

  • Comment removed

  • Yes is the same snake the brazilians call it surucucu in Dutch Guyanna is call bushmeister and is highly poisonus it lives deep in the jungle

  • @Lecanoma,

Surinam is the current name of this country and not Dutch Guyana much like Rhodesia is called Zimbabwe nowadays. In Surinam people refer to this snake as 'maka sneki' instead of the european name 'bushmaster'. But you don't want to be bitten regardless of what it is called.

  • definitley my favourite snake, combines beauty and power.. such a gorgeous snake

  • Austin Stevens will launch his official website before the new year. Check it out!

  • love all snakes, but my favorite is the king cobra

  • Far from brilliant. He is a wanna be, and takes unnecessary risks. He will continue to get bit by venomous snakes unless he learns to respect them. He is a time bomb, and will likely take a serious bite if he keeps this up.

  • AS is a brilliant but absolutely insane bloke

  • Species with extreme biting power and the species with the second longest fans in the world..... I think the pain is enough to make u kill.

  • Quote:

    "I FOUND IT!!!"

Why would even look for it!

  • I don't question his love of snakes. That said, the show is so staged it's absurd, with embarrassingly executed stunts and laughable subplots. He takes captive animals and portrays them as wild, such as the West African Gaboon viper he "captured" in East Africa -- whoops -- while swinging from a vine Tarzan-style. He is reckless, handles animals roughly, and agitates them to get a reaction. I've seen him get envenomated twice, break lizards' tails, and needlessly stress all sorts of animals.

  • i get what ur saying but we actually do have gaboon vipers in eastafrica, jst thot id let u know

  • Very true buddy. This guy is damn rough on snakes. He's got no respect on them at all.He recently got bitten by a cobra and he was pissed with the snake. Well according to the way he was pissed I'm not sure whether he killed it.

  • Austin Stevens is one of the best and most revered snake handlers, herpetologists, and conservationists in the world. He served in the South African army doing decisive work in removing venomous snakes from trenches. With is skill he saved hundreds of lives. He also set a world record, in the plight to save African Gorillas, by staying in a venomous snake-filled tank for 107 days and nights. Truly worthy of respect. And you, mittlevitch are dead wrong.

  • @capnhawkins I read his book, he reguarly got bit through being stupid with hot snakes (including a cobra bite when he did the 107 days), I have seen him get bitten by a Cobra being an asshole and showing off - if he was only half as good as he thinks he is, he would be twice as good as he really is!

  • @armandin2048 Come on, a few bites doesn't mean he isn't good. It doesn't take away his greatness. It happens a lot to herpetologists. I mean how many herpetologists have done all the incredible things he does on his show? (like touching the back of the head of a 15 foot king cobra from the front) Steve Irwin had SO many close calls in his life (i know, not snakebites) and got killed by a stingray, go hate on him rather than bash this guy. Don't use Austin's accidents to put him down so much.

  • @capnhawkins and that's not saying that I would hate on Steve Irwin. Both are still awesome

  • @capnhawkins If you speak to, read any herp, they all judge how good they are but how many times they DO NOT get btten (OK, people who milk 2,500 snakes per year get cut a little slack) - this is my main issue with AS

He is just reckless with highly dangerous animals and performing up to the camera WAY beyind his skill level.

  • @armandin2048 Steve Irwin had so many close calls, he even got bitten by a snake one time and had to look at a book to see if it was venomous or not! All this and eventually death by an animal but he is still loved and praised as the greatest worldwide. I agree that Austin can be a bit more careful at times, but that does not mean he is not one of the greatest snakehandlers ever. And Austin does not perform way behind his skill level, come on he handles reptiles with mastery time and again.

  • @capnhawkins It happens to a lot of BAD herps - performing beyond skill level = got bitten - QED

  • bushmaster aka THE LACHESIS

  • Could the fake drama be more absurd? Indigenous people in a perfect semi-circle with spears and arrows drawn to kill the snake until AS saves the day -- all with a camera man fortuitously perched in the trees above. LMFAO!!! His shows are all like this.

AS is an idiot. He often handles snakes carelessly and even injures them. He is not a "professional" -- ask any real herpetologist what they think of him.

Awesome snake in the video. Bushmasters are not aggressive, though, just the opposite.

  • What you have said is seriously outrageous. Austin Stevens is one of the most respected snake handlers in the world, and never have I ever heard of or seen any instance in which he has injured a snake. You seem to misinterpret the style of his shows as well.

He doesn't handle snakes carelessly. He's passionate about snakes and all animals. How many snake handlers have you heard of that have touched every cobra species on the back of the head? You know I'd say you're the idiot.

  • My comment was addressed to you, mattlevitch.

  • look shut the fuck up. the drama brings excitement to the show and gets better ratings

  • This its a beautiful Bushmaster!

  • that was a pretty snake....

    i like all snakes though...

i have a ball python and a king snake :]

    also have had lizards :)

  • Austin Stevens is THE man.

He's fantastic and I love watching him on TV.

I remember when he caught and milked an 8 foot fer de lance in Costa Rica!!!!!!

    The mans a legend.

  • he is nuts

  • Erabot do u know who austin stevens is man im not gonna be rude to u so no need to start cussing at me and stuff but hes a herpitoligist man not an actor he does over do some things but when making a show isnt it only appropiate but he is a legend in Africa

  • I would love to breed bushmasters in captivity.

  • i cannot BELIEVE he's a handling a bushmaster! my dad knows someone who died from being bitten by that snake. that is the fiercest snake in my birth country and EVERYONE is scared of it. extremely aggressive it is. i'm surpised that this one's just looking at him. most snakes only attack when bothered, but the bushmasterone will go out of it's way to get u. and it's fast as shit.

  • This comment is for Erabot and Jeep. Do you guys even know who he is? Read up a bit about Austin Stevens first. And before calling him an idiot realize how you would feel if someone called your mom a whore Jeep. He is a professional and does it to educate people and not do it for fun.

  • This guy wholly represents western civilization. He always stresses how dangerous a situation he went deliberately into, or created actually is. He's not much sense of humor, he badly overacts scenes which are absolutely manageable, (remember the llamas blocking the gutter) and shows not much respect towards animals or nature...(any momentum, any animal) However, I find the unintentional hilarity of his shows rather amusing.

  • U're so right my friend ...

  • I'm sry sir but ur both bald. Western civilization? Where are u from anyway, hobo. I bet he has a lot more respect for animals and nature than you do. And especially a lot more than ur mom, who crushed puppies with her fat

  • yea im talkin to the Erabot guy who made the comment below me not the guy who made the vid. good vid.

  • I think picking up random animals in rainforests, and then poking them and playing with them like puppets isn't very respectful. Also acting as if he was in imminent danger, when he's clearly not, or getting himself unnecessarily into real danger is plain idiotic. I know he's a professional, but he's a terrible actor.

Also your momma is so fat, that blue whales ask her for diet tips before swimming up north beyond Iceland. :-)

  • austin stevens is the man!!! surprisingly, this bushmaster wasn't aggressive at all, he was very calm, unlike that giant cobra he handled :D

  • that is why I dont feel bad for ppl who get bitten by these snakes...DONT PICK THEM UP, what an idiot!

  • The other guys were like... This guy is crazy, I'm not going with him anymore.

  • A good job its brightly coloured

  • Unlike other snakes, the bush master stalks people and other pray making noises in the jungel.

So if you are walking in the jungle you might have 1 of these stalking you.

  • This snake is the most feared in THE AMAZONE. it is known to attack with NO reason. and is attracted by flashlights at night. when they sleep they almost sounds like they are snoring. Very dangerous and agressive. They do not have to be provoced to attack.

I have great respect for this snake but love it for its beauty.

  • i love watching his shows there great

  • He is either seriously brave or seriously nuts, or both! For some reason out of all the people I have seen on tv pick any poisonous snake up, he scares me the most. That Bushmaster looked like it was gonna strike at him.

  • I've seen him handle at least 10 snakes. Austin is very good... but it's freaking staged. He always "finds" a camouflaged snake after "searching" for weeks (with a full camera crew). In reality, he probably puts a snake into a freezer for a few hours to slow it down... and then plants the snake and "finds" it. Plus 100 other tricks. This show is very slick. I guarantee you Austin is not really "risking his life". At least he dresses like an adult... unlike Irwin.

  • well, he got bitten by a cobra in front of the camera.. so what do u call that ?! :p

  • i call that hardcore.. AUSTEN STEVENS!!! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

  • I call it "bad technique."

  • one of his best moments is jumping into the water to wrestle the anaconda, it was just tryin to escape and it still nearly drowned him

  • nah i was watching the other day and he was with this cobra and he was like if i was a mongoose this snake would be in trouble then the thing just bites him in the hand

  • hey Wompier...if you have never heard of the guy, says it all really...and yep BUSHMASTERS are dangerous..his best has to be the python he annoys in a tree!..hope his luck holds out!

  • What a great snake! Austin Stevens is just amazing!

  • When the locals know better then to get close to the bushmaster, you better think twice. He got lucky that this particular snake wasn't in a bad mood. It could easily have killed him several times in the video had it wanted to. Bushmasters are no joke.

  • The snake is awesome...however Austin is not the same since he started to try & act...hell man get back to what you do best...PHOTOGRAPHY!!

  • NO. I disagree. I never heard of him before. By doing what hes doing makes him more mainstream. Keeps the average joe interested.

  • I think its brill! And he's a real inspiration to me and my family!

  • People shouldn't criticize this program as its highly entertaining . Much better than Steve Irwin.

  • i've never seen this guys show but i can say i would love a chance to be able to. Steve Irwin was good that I will say. This guys show looks pretty good too.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if the vast majority of his 'captures' are infact zoo kept animals from local or even international collections. Animal Planet do this alot with all manner of 'wildlife'. Shame, but true.

    Ben

  • It is a bushmaster, but its staged. Almost all of his encounters with the snake he is "searching for" are staged. He's an idiot

  • Couldn't agree with you more mate....how is HE on telly!!!

    Ben

  • What funny comments here. It is a Lachetis Muta or Bushmaster or BuschMeister. The most legendary and rarest snake on earth. And: a very beautiful snake. More is not to say.

  • Beautiful snake! I have to give the man props I love snakes but at the same time don't they I have the guts to do what he's doing.

  • i have given this video one star.

  • And I have given you a thumbs down :)

  • ferdalance viper

  • Excuse me,you are the Jackass loser Mr Nobody, making rude comments about someone who has achieved well in their life!Get back under your stone nano511!Back to the point, the Bushmaster is an awesome snake, and Austin Stevens does a great job Again!!

  • for a poisonous snake, it is a beast!

  • The most legendary of snakes; the bushmaster is large, impressive, elusive, and deadly.

If you adventure into the jungles of Latin America, an encounter with this snake will be tense, but will also be the rarest of experiences.

    Great job, Austin Stevens

  • And then again this was a Complete set-up. And you notice how this so-called "Snake Master" never mentioned the species, surely if you acually did find this snake in the wild you would at least know what species it was. Austin Stevens is a Jackass. Plain and simple.

  • e did mention de spiecies its a bush master u nob

  • There are three recongnized species of Bushmaster, dumbass. SA, CA, and BA. So get your facts straight.

  • Sorry I meant BH.

  • I love that snake.. One of the most beautiful snakes in the whole world.
