I was about 3 months away from going to Jr high when I first heard this song but it was played at every dance even when I hit high school because we loved it. The 80's was were the best for music movies clothes and teen night clubs.
could someone have not found a better clip of this song, the sound was terrible lol It's a great song just didn't enjoy hearing the muffling sound in the background!
I completely agree........THis song reminds me of when I was 19 years old and surfing on matagorda beach and riding my dirt bikes with my sister.....wow.....what a great song. I also has a brand new Pontiac Fire Bird that I drove around.....was FUN FUN FUN
Include underappreciated Cdn songs such as Night to Remember- Prism, Fantasy- Aldo Nova, Toyko Rose-Idle Eyes..groups Body Electric, Frozen Ghost ,Sherriff, Chilliwack etc etc etc. I have over 6,000 vinyl albums and singles with just about every Cdn hit ever made since 1970. Some before that era also.
hi javelin1010 i was hope you could help me out since you have so much knowledge about cdn bands: when i lived in vancouver (from 81-97) i remember this band's video where the lead singer, looking cool wearing a dark woolen trench coat, was singing atop a floating barge probably somewhere near vancouver. would you know which band and what song i'm talking? it could be 'images in vogue' but i can't seem to find that video here. i hope you can help. thanks!
In my opinion one of the most under rated and uknown bands in Canadian history. This song is so unique for so many reasons. I remember hearing it for the first time in 1988 and it left me breathless. It still does. Hold on to those records/CDs as long as you can.
Wow..so this band didnt' really hit in Canada back in the day? Really suprising...we really loved them out here in Northern & Central California back in the day!
Well the band hit Canada. They were from Ottawa and came out of now where and left the same way! They were an enigma. Obviously very talented. I was actually surprised to see this song posted and...it took a Californian to do it! Way to Go!!!!!
i was searching for one of my absolute favorite songs (burning flame and saw that you have an even more favorite song of mine-this song is just amazing-i can listen to it over and over :) thank you....
Great song!!! Have never heard it before. What year was this on MTV? I was very busy raising two little hooligans, starting in 1986!! Not much time to watch TV back then....they're 23 and 17 now.....now there is time to cruise YouTube to see what music I missed and the other fantastic music that was the soundtrack of my youth!
Don't really remember....just cruising YouTube.....the title sounded interesting....heard the song and fell in love with it.....fantastic tune!! I wonder if it got airplay on the radio....chances are I might of heard it in the car while running errands and being distracted by the first-born little hooligan!!! LOL! He would have been two years old in 1988.....TERRIBLE TWOS!!!!
Love, Love this song. Does anyone know when it will be available on itunes. Just did a search and they don't exsist :( I am also Canadian so if anyone has info please respond thanks:)
I have the CD Almacantar, it's a very rare thing to find it but it's an official CD. Each of their songs have this quality, yet their own distinct sound. This band really is tremendous.
Oh yeah, and another little known fact: Andy, the lead singer, actually had an audio production company post-Eight Seconds and has written some amazing corporate jingle stuff. Ottawa Senators fans have him to thank for the entire roman centurian entrance trumpet theme 'Buh-duh-da-duh-DAAAAA"
Also, Frank (aka 'Fish') runs Canada's most successful indie music distribution service called Indie Pool out of Toronto.
And, of course, these guys worked a LOT with Alanis in her formative days.
I know all these guys real well. Back in the 80s/90s, Ottawa had a very tight-knit music community, and one of the tightest knit was the teamwork between very close friends of the Eight Seconds and One To One/Sals Birdland/Artificial Joy Club 'crews'. Essentially, best of friends and always hanging out at their mutual studios. You'll notice a lot of cross-referencing in the album credits.
This is a great song! "Kiss You When It's Dangerous" would have made a great title for a james bond movie...and this song could have been the theme.....
i had seen this video in Eurorock videos Phils.long time ago in My High school days & heard it on radio station(NU 107).HAD 1 vinyl lp collection.-OLAN
YES...I wore this casette tape out. The summer of 1985 I had a brand new red firebird. I grew up near Corpus Christi Texas and remember driving on the beach listeningto this tape.....what great memories!!

OMG it was on RSVP (Request a Son for Video Play) on MuchMusic! I miss those days, I remember the opening song by Debbie Gibson and Erica Ehm was host for the longest time... oh yeah and Steve Anthony and well Master T and everyone!!! LOL!... This song is awesome but damn it brought me back to RSVP times, haha... :)
I am glad that I am not the only one who thinks that the lead singer is cute;) LOL!This is a great song, brings me back to when I was very young in the 80s.
this song is still on my homemade cd's! i love it,it is in the stlye of johnny hates jazz et al... 80's music still rocks! and the lead singer is cute ! or, was cute, it's beeb 20 yrs ! lol !
A long time ago, someone told me this song was Oingo Boingo and I believed them for years... Now I can distinguish Danny Elfman's voice in my sleep so I set out to find out who really does this song. Pretty awesome.
I was told the same.. it does have an oingo sound to it.. maybe like cheap knock off.. not to dismiss this song.. its pretty good, just saying it's not as great as anything Danny has done :D
LOVE THIS song.......... and I love the old MuchMusic RSVP graphic! Bring back the good old MuchMusic when they PLAYED VIDEOS and not these crappy teeny-bopper oriented reality show-type crap
As would befit such an expression of the 80s..."TOTALLY AWESOME!!!" I *LOVE* this tune and I rank it very highly. I heard it once in August 1986 late one night on the radio after just recently moving to the Jersey Shore that summer. This song embodies some of the best that New Wave had and has to offer. Very haunting, melodic, and evocative in a pop song context. I actually found the cd "Alamacantar" for cheap several years later. Seeing the video on here is a bonus. Kudos and Thanks!
Dude, I must say, amazing track. I remember getting this song as promo track on a compilation cd Technics gave me when my parents bought our "home theatre" back in 1990. I finally saw the video - it all adds to the flavour of the era.
WOW!!! What dragon infested dungeon did you dig this gem out of? I haven't heard this song since the mid 80's I was messing around on Youtube and typed it on a whim and here it is. Thanks for posting it.
hah! Off of an ancient format known as an old 'vhs'..glad you enjoyed this..I see you're in the states, how did you hear of this band? Or are you from Canada originally?
I only heard this song once back in 1986 I think on MTV but forgot the band name. Yes that was here in the states. And for some reason it stuck in my head. I thought it was Oingo Boingo all these years on some B-Side out of print record so gave up on ever finding it until I typed it in the search window on Youtube.
Ahhh...Fall of '86. Saw the group open for Wang Chung in Milwaukee. Took the boys nightclubbing after the show & then joined them the next night in Chicago! Top memories!
I was born in December of 87, but I back this band hard. I love how you've got this original much recording. That's unreal!! Upload so more stuff, including hosts, commercials, and others stuff. Nostalgia is great!
