  • I love this tune, can't wait to see GBS in Kitchener next week! I listen to this tune all the time, ID's version is amazing.

  • This song should be on a future GBS record! This song sounds like Alan sharing his story of working at the fishery in Petty Harbour cutting cod tounges when he was a kid.

  • And cod tongues are delicious, take it from me.

That line ' I look at my son and think of the fun that he'll never have around here', I'm pretty sure Alan wrote it as he has a young son that will never know the joys of cutting cod tongues and selling them.

  • This song ALWAYS makes me cry whenever I hear it. I have the ID album Southern Shore, and IMO its their best yet!

  • This song is on The Irish Descendents' CD "Southern Shore." Alan was producer.

  • Love this. Any chance of it being on their new album?

  • I'm not sure, it sounds like it's just one he hasn't played for a long time but I'd like it if it was. I was there for this. Amazing panel. It also looks like it should include Straight to Hell (he played it so many times) and Walk on the Moon.

  • Thanks for posting this song! So touching. Great Big Sea was AMAZING on Ships and Dip III!

  • Well I've eaten cod tongues -- much tastier than he implies! LOL I'm glad he found an audience for this song.

  • Ships and Dip was great, and the Songwriter's Panel made it extra worthwhile. Thanks for posting!

  • Thanks Tinkerbell. I was praying this would end up here. Has to be my favorite!
