  • A nice counter-weight to the more brutal style of both Dawkins and Hitchens.

  • Comment removed

  • lacks the shotgun power of Richard Dawkins. Sam Harris I find is much too kind. HAHHAHA

  • I watched that whole debate and by far this is the best bit,, im glad someone picked it out, its so perfect!

  • Harris is going to be a powerful voice against religious stupidity in the coming decades.

  • Sam Harris makes it virtually impossible not to intently listen. Logic is intoxicating.

  • Religion is poison, and youtube is killing religion. Thanks for posting, this is very important battle against superstition we are having.

  • That opening alone..."Let me give you a sense of what it's like to be me having this conversation...". Sam is hilarious in a very special way.

  • Humility

  • Although measuring intellect and even a universal understanding of the definition of intellect isn't very clear-cut, I think "humbleness/humble"(?lol) is an essential characteristic to take into account because it encompass the ability of sceptical enquiry which is vital for understanding and justifying propositions of knowledge and truth of the world around us,

In other words I'm calling religious people stupid - by default xD

  • it's too quiet. i can't hear it.

  • The onyl thing I hate about Sam's witchcraft analogy is that I didn't come up with it. lol

  • When I watch Sam Harris debate it makes me wish there were more of him and he had much more mainstream exposure. I hadn't heard of him until a couple of months ago.

  • @LAnonHubbard spread the word :)

  • I too wish I had Sam Harris' intellect. The thing is, you don't need it to realize that believing invisible beings manipulating our lives from the sky, is absurd.

  • WOW. Amazingly poignant once again.

  • Sam Harris is a master of analogy. I wish I had half of his eloquence, especially when I debate religion.

  • i agree, i try to watch as many debates on religion as i can, and try to soak up all the good arguments against theism, and then use them when i argue with theists. Analogies can be extremely powerful.

  • @ SecularSwede

But the problem I face when discussing with theists is that it's usually a trap. There's no sharing opinion with them, only you/me inquiring or giving examples, and them [theists] spouting nonsensical statements, with no regard to viewpoints.

I can see where they come from (Christian upbringing myself,) but they just lack perspective.

So I just give up usually, or don't even try. Lucky for me there aren't many religious nuts here, but what I see on youtube alone scares me.

  • @fadfskfsk It scares me that all of you guys are doing everything you can to reject Jesus and not to come in to his open arms... I really hope that you guys will meet God and see for yourselves what life really is about! :D I mean... how'd you feel if you created a whole world and then the world doesn't want anything to do with you even though you created it...? Just give Jesus a try before you argue against him ;) I don't know HOW my life'd look like if I hadn't met Jesus... I LOVE HIM! :D:D:D

  • @JohanLindhe god is supposedly perfect, therefor he doesnt NEED anything. He does not need us to believe in him. And if he wants us to believe in him, why did he create a world that as far as we know doesnt need a god to work to begin with? Why didnt he leave any tracks? And why doesnt he simply come down to earth and show himself, he could convince everyone in the world in two seconds if he wanted us to believe in him.

  • @SecularSwede He has created each and everyone of us with his endless love and he cares sooo much that no one can even understand it about EVERY SINGLE PERSON in this universe! :) We cannot yet understand God's mysterious ways and how you can be pure good... we will understand that in heaven :) But we can get a glimpse of heaven here on earth if we follow Jesus! :D Also... what do u have to lose if u just try ;)? And... As far as I've heard many ppl believe that a God must exist(einstein exp)..

  • @JohanLindhe wow. you are incredibly stupid.

  • @ThatGuyWhoSucksBoobz No I'm not ;) I've found the real thing! :D Jesus! :D And... what I also like about Christians is that they wouldn't say something like "wow. you are incredibly stupid" to anyone... I mean that's just rude! :)

  • @JohanLindhe Good for you. Why comment here, though? Most viewers here are atheists. And we tend be rude to idiots like yourself. :D

  • @ThatGuyWhoSucksBoobz Well... if you guys who don't believe would search and find Jesus and belive the whole world would be like heaven! :D Just imagine everyone being nice to everyone all the time! :D Everyone being able to share their deepest problems with anyone they just met at the street since they can share anything with anyone :) The world would be to awesome to understand! :D

  • @JohanLindhe I was raised christian. so you don't have to tell me to "find jesus". There is no evidence that he performed miracles or was the son of god. With that said, people are perfectly capable of being good without god. Now take your nonsense somewhere else.

  • @ThatGuyWhoSucksBoobz Well why are you rude then ;)

  • @JohanLindhe Because your preaching your faith on an atheist video. That's the equivalent of me posting atheistic comments on a jesus vid.

  • @ThatGuyWhoSucksBoobz I wouldn't be rude to you then ;) I'd try to make you understand what really matters in life :) but in an as nice way as possible :)

  • @JohanLindhe Great. now go away.

  • @ThatGuyWhoSucksBoobz I just don't get it... why are you so hostile :)? I mean... I see every person I meet as a potentional really good friend, but you just push ppl like me away... instead of making a new friend or something :) Well bye bye then...

last note... at least try to think as if you thought as you think God thinks :P and try to see what's good in everyone ;)

  • @JohanLindhe Tell ya what. When you prove your god exists, then I'll believe he exists. mmmkay? :D

  • @ThatGuyWhoSucksBoobz You gotta find that out for yourself ;) and he's your God too...

  • @JohanLindhe Code for: I don't have any. I'd rather have blind faith. :D

  • @ThatGuyWhoSucksBoobz Just try to listen...

  • Svara på det här videoklippet... I felt God's prscence many times when I've been to places where I've been with many other Christians and when we have prayed for each other and for everything :) You get a feeling and you're just soo glad that you don't even know what to do :D You just want other people to feel that joy to! :D I really love God... :D and there are many cases when ppl hav been healed and such when prayed for ;) and also! Einstein said that there has to be a God ;)

  • @JohanLindhe Argument from personal experience is a logical fallacy. try again.

  • @JohanLindhe you're fucking retarded

  • For all the half-assed analogies people try to use in their debating, Sam actually knows how to be 100% relevant to the point he's making. That's not easy to do.

  • My favorite Sam Harris argument of all time! Making metaphysical claims without evidence (i.e. I believe you were Elvis in your past life) --> Have no way of disproving it, but it is of course nonsense. The idea of a personal god is just as believable as witchcraft!

  • I watched this whole debate, and the other guy was a total douche

  • @MrQuasar22 Agreed. So was the "moderator".
