We also don't know for sure that he had no criminal record and even Chris Shaw was being careful about that in interviews by saying "To my knowledge, he doesn't have any criminal record".
It is ridiculous, but CBSA has a history of turning people back at the airport for something as simple as a 20 year old possession of marijuana charge in their country of origin.
In this case, CBSA is hiding behind the privacy act and is not disclosing why this guy was denied entry and sent to Seattle.

Police brutality, including the recent Vancouver incident where the police said ' they beat up the wrong man', Vancouver airport incident where the police possibly conspired for a cover up. The free lance writer incident, just now and Harper prorogues government to shut down detainee inquiry..Where is Canada heading?

I wouldn't agree with you on the thing about mainstream journalists dropping the ball on this...
A press release didn't go out on this until 9 o'clock last night so nobody was even aware of it.
Not only did it make the 11pm news on Global, but it made the 1130 on CTV, and was leading local radio on CKNW and News 1130.
It was on again on Global's noon news today, and is in the online versions of the newspapers - and quite possibly the print versions (haven't checked my paper today).

The media is going to give it soft coverage as they are now about all unfaltering Olympic news. Yes they mention it, but I believe that strict editorial guidelines are in place how and what to cover. Do You Believe...

I disagree. It was the lead story last night...and I can tell you first hand, there are no "editorial guidelines" at Global or CKNW regarding Olympic coverage.
I'm not sure about CTV or News 1130 as they are official broadcasters of the games.
