@OnePotChefShow I have a very similar recipe, except that I meringue the egg white with 3 tbsp (~50g) of the icing sugar, then make a custard with the egg yolks and mascarpone. Fold them together to get a lovely, fluffy creamed cheese mixture!
Also, try straight cocoa powder between layers and on top. Divine!
@OnePotChefShow hi David, what if i only have 250g of Mascarpone cheese? Can i use the same measurements for the rest of the ingredients or I have to half all of them? Or I should probably get another tub of Mascarpone? thank you ;)
Anyone know that it have to be coffee? Just wonder, if you for example have friends that don't like coffee taste, personally i don't mind it, but, yeah.. :P Just wondering ^^
@VolcanoDiva It doesn't always have to be coffee. I grew up eating a different version of Tiramisu. The one with graham, condensed milk, all purpose cream and mangos
You said that Tiramisu is one of you all-time favourite deserts, so why not make a list of your top 10 favourite deserts? I think people would like to see that.
Made this recipe for mum's birthday with low fat cream cheese to make up for some of the mascarpone cheese and did not put a whole 500g of cheese in the mix (prob 400-450g). I made the mistake of not warming the cream cheese before adding it in - this resulted in hideous lumps :( I had to put my [metal] mixing bowl in the oven to warm it. I put chocolate chips in my Magic Bullet for chocolate powder and used Stella D'oro Margherite Combination cookies (Piggly Wiggly) for lady fingers. Loved it!
Just made it... took my like 20 minutes at the supermarket to find the mascarpone, even though i had to have walked by it 15 times lol... Sitting in the fridge right now. Thanks chef!
I made this using little plumcakes snacks. I cut them to make 3 long slices and use them instead of savoiardi (sponge fingers). Also I spread some milk chocolate chips in the cream.
Tiramisu's a great last minute dessert to make when you're invited over to someone's place. I've made it once before, and it was ok, but not rich enough. After looking around, I realized that the richness comes from using a pastry cream, but that's a bit too much work for me to attempt :) Your recipe's clever: it's like an uncooked pastry cream. That means I can add this to my list of goto dishes. I've only one concern: how long can you keep this around, given that you use raw eggs?
@OnePotChefShow David here in the part of the US i live in we have eggs known as pasteurized eggs. These are eggs that look the same, taste the same, and are totally fine to eat raw. They are a bit more expensive, but in our family where I live with my grandma and my baby brother who is only 2, we figure it is a safer option. I was wondering if you have them in Australia. I only explained them in case you do not have them, but if you do, you will know exactly what I am talking about.
@OnePotChefShow haha yeah. And honestly there are only 2 brands that I am aware of that have them, and I usually do not see them when I am on vacation in other parts of the US. Also I have a recipe request: new york strip steaks (I believe they are called porterhouses in Australia!
@OnePotChefShow its easy u just take the egg an hold it on the right side of ur face then slowly move it over to the left side, easy pastureyes'd eggs :D
@OnePotChefShow In most grocers these pasterized eggs are known as "eggstra". It is mostly egg whites with coloring and cornstarch. They scramble, and work in cakes just like regular eggs without the danger of raw eggs. They come in small cartons about 1/2 pint (american measurement) in the refridgerator section near the regular eggs. MrButterworth24 is correct in that they are a safer version and can be eaten by all.
@MrButterworth24 Yes in the US Pasteurized eggs are pretty easy to find and would eliminate any risk. As for me I don't worry about it, but I like to live on the edge. Eating raw eggs makes me feel so alive. ; P
@OnePotChefShow hi David, what if i only have 250g of Mascarpone cheese? Can i use the same measurements for the rest of the ingredients or I have to half all of them? Or I should probably get another tub of Mascarpone? thank you ;)
This looks absolutely scrumptious! I'm definitely going to try this today! And for all the people and children who can't eat raw eggs, why not just use egg beaters. They are pasteurized so it should be safe for everyone. That way, no one would have to miss out on your delicious recipe! :-D
@iLikeCookie88 Young children have under-developed immune systems, and are more at risk from developing food poisoning from the bacteria naturally present in raw eggs.
@sheilasofea I'm not being rude. I'm just worried for his health. I'm a bit chubby myself, but I'm glad that I started exercising and living healthier and so managed to loose some weight.
@SmoerKitty It takes a bit more time, but boil a pot of water. Take it off the burner and whip your eggs in a bowl over the hot water. It'll cook the eggs some.
OMG! I love this dish since I was 10 years old and i'm now 14. My mum always buy's it from the super market but i'll have to tell her to make this. Thanks for the recipe I'll be sure to make this. Also could you do a Bread and Butter pudding or a Creme Brulay (I can't spell) If so I woudl love you =) Keep it up.
oh boy.... I should've known better than to watch this..... now I'm salivating like one of Dr. Pavlov's dogs at the sound of the bell... That looks so yummy that I'm sure some agency somewhere is thinking of making it illegal...

I'm half italian-american(been living in italy for ever now)...and i can tell u it looks good... but we don't use that kind of sugar.... we use normal granulated white sugar usually one tablespoon per egg...and i may suggest u to use unsweetened chocolate powder every time u have to start a new layer(after the cream mixture) and even on the top... but not too much :) the result if awesome trust me... hope u didnt mind me giving some suggestions
Mmmmmm....But I will have to go the eggless version for the next 3 months till kungfoo fighter is born. I also have used just whipped cream if marscapone is too expensive. But in SG where we now live (aussie expats), marscapone can be $14 a tub :( so very out of the question unless its a special occasion!
@OnePotChefShow Hey, I think adding a drop of alcohol would kill off the chance of Salmonella. Thus pregnant women and people with compromised immune systems would be able to eat it. So you should add a small caption saying that. Its the same idea if your making egg nog. You have to add alcohol to kill off the salmonella. Also great vid, I am gonna try this later lol
@theclashrock09 Adding a splash of liqueur/alcohol would have little effect on the bacterial growth. The addition of alcohol is simply a personal taste preference ;)
@OnePotChefShow Aaaah come on! :D You are the nicest and most polite person I've ever seen on YT or cooking in general! Oh and great looking Tiramisu! It seems like the buscuits arent as wet as they usually are in Tiramisu, is that so? I would love it then, because I hate the wet Tiramisu bottom :P
Love this vid, it looks so yummy! I made this once, I accidentally added way too much instant coffee and it turned out super bitter on the bottom layer..i ended up adding sugar to sweeten it out. I love the cream cheese mixture though, although the mascarpone cheese is way too expensive for me (I'm a cheapo)
@duriantram I agree about the price of mascarpone - you can always use a soft cream cheese instead. It'll be more or less the same and save you some bucks ;)
@OnePotChefShow i'm italian and tiramisù is my favourite dessert...in the original version, you have to whip sugar only with the yolks and in another bowl the whites (in my personal version i don't use the whites, but some whipped cream). after you can add into the whipped yolks&sugar mixture the mascarpone cheese and finally the whipped whites (or the cream). try my version, i'd be very proud! ;) (sorry for my bad english!!)

Both Sides at Same Time Also Then You Place in Baking Dish.
