  • The original Quake reigns supreme! Eight weapons, vicious monsters, and secret areas.

Yes - secrets! Most modern shooters have forgotten about them.

  • go star-ship troopers

  • @daburnell112 Starship Troopers FTW!

  • thumbs up if you think quake is the father of gears of war

  • This game was boss

  • STARSHIP TROOPERS!

  • I'm fine with the 3 shot deaths. I'm fine with weapon limits. I'm fine with terrible weapon sets.

What I'm not fine with is THE FUCKING MOVEMENT LIMITATIONS.

I CAN'T SPEEDRUN WHEN MY MOVEMENT SPEED IS CAPPED AT .1 km/H AND I NEED TO WAIT 5 SECONDS TO JUMP AGAIN!!!

  • For someone who remembers the dreary yellow skies of Stroggos from a young age, this intro spoke to me directly: "Welcome home."

  • @ThexInfectedxOnez dont you mean call of duty, its the big thing these days

  • this the best i swear a 1000000000000000000000000000 times better than halo

  • Game is so old

  • @ThexInfectedxOnez Cod is worse, halo is acceptable, just consolized.

  • @ThexInfectedxOnez Halo is dead.

  • @00Chr1s00 there is blood in the game! But they delete some bodies at machines

  • Edit:no bodies in the Intro and no Blood in the Game

  • In the German Version (Rated 16 and older) there are nö

  • @MrLoltehpwnzor more like dead space=quake coz quake was released before dead space

  • Quake 4 Is Great.

its like a better and more fun version Doom 3

  • @PoisonImpurity868

    You cant compare them.

Doom 3 was a survival horror type game while Quake 4 is sci- fi war game.

Quake 4 was awesome doh it reminded me a little on medal of honor at least the scenes where you adn your teamates were attacked by strogg artilery in the trenches.

  • ID, the creators of both Doom 3 and Quake, and this taking place on mars.

See a theme going on here?

  • Id software had almost nothing to do with Quake 4.

  • @117khan

    Nope.

Quake 2 and 4 take place on Planet Stroggos'

  • does anyone still play online?

  • That's one Quaked Space Marine!

  • Quake > Halo

  • Here Goes A Game I Think You Guys Will Like Give It A Try Share It With Your Friends Its Fun Thanks

    depositfiles (.) com/en/files/3iwvzbpa1

    (5 Second 2 Minute Download)

  • EPIC GAME, REMEMBER WHEN I GOT IT FOR CHRISTMAS IN 2007 :D I WAS LIKE O_O

  • so funny

  • This is perhaps the most cliche space marine intro I've ever seen.

  • Well, the drop-ship sequence was lifted straight from "Aliens" (1986), but oh, well...

  • cheesy generic squad intro but a damn fine Pure FPS shooter :)

  • THEY COPIED HALLOOOZZZZZ

  • @TheHappyWhaleshark no they didnt? plus halo is fucking shit

  • @TheHappyWhaleshark Go die in an oven, Quake was inb4 Halo.

  • this opening is straight from the movie ENEMY MINE

  • This looks way better then Quake 5 (AKA Enemy Territory Quake Wars).

  • me quedo con el 2 es megor k este

  • i cant find quake 4 anywhere pisses me off

  • it was an awesome game...

  • Third person cutscences are unnecessary.

  • why wont my quake 2 game work anymore. i have windows 7 and it just reads the game as an audio disk, anyone with any info on how to get this game to work please let know.....btw is quake 4 any good or at least half as good as quake 2

  • @TheFaygoFanatic u need dos box probly or some special fix patch for win 7 cause Quake II is old , i run it last time on win 2000 on one very old pc :D barely with minum for Q2 :D

  • @werkis2

I have w7 and it works fine btw why would you need dosbox for q2?

It runs on opengl same as anyother game after 1997.

  • @TheFaygoFanatic Check out Steam- the game versions on there all work with Win7. You'll need to buy it again, but the first few Quakes are dirt cheap.

  • Q3 > QW > Q2 > * > Q4

  • Quake? Isn't this Doom?

  • @JamesTKirkCobain o.o doom really your a idiot

  • halo much?

  • @cloudasaurion69 The plot for Quake came before Halo, numbnuts. ;)

  • @Hamodey1

    q4 is epic.

  • @Hamodey1 i hurt peopole with my batty bat bat

  • starship troopers....ooohhhhh.....cool

  • this looks like halo kinda

  • The song is called 'Attack on Stroggos'.

  • Anyone else got quake 2 with quake 4 when it was first released?

  • @MyReturningNightmare

Me, aint played it tho >.< still mint in its case

  • @MyReturningNightmare Quake 2 still comes with Quake 4 to this day. It's a shit version though. You aren't truly playing Quake 2 if you aren't playing it on the pc.

  • Why Quake IV got lower reviews than Doom 3 despite the fact that Quake 4 had much better gameplay?

  • i love this game

  • so..... halo?

  • 0:45 flying dildo's :D

  • is this on ps3?

  • 0:24 - 0:37 In space no sound wtf????

  • @JokerVert

That's exactly what I was about to write about two pieces of metal hitting each other at 00:20 :-)

  • Good game until you got captured.

  • i saw this at a mall for 7$

  • why are old games like doom and quake so voilent?

  • @dufydf LOL Nice try troll, there are more modern violent video games than there are old ones.

  • @dufydf Why question?

  • LOL! Shut da hellup Strauss!

  • the intro reminds me alot of Starship Troopers.

  • @ROGUEKILLER298 hell yeah!

  • @ROGUEKILLER298 agreed

  • @ROGUEKILLER298 Yeah!Infact,I wouldn't be surprised to discover that Quake 4 is inspired to Starship Troopers,or the contrary thing.

  • @AngraMajinu Starship Troopers was written in 1959 by Robert Heinlein - one of the greatest scifi writers of all time. 1954 is a _little_ before 2007...

  • @zarathustra2k1 OK,it was only a ipotetic theory!

  • wait isnt the actor whos talking at 2:00 the same guy who does voiceovers for luke skywalker in jedi academy ?

  • Does the first quake has to do anything with the rest of the series ?

  • @omlas6

    Not one single thing!

Weapons, enemies, world, story-line, bosses and the warrior him self are completely different.

Quake 3 probably has more in common to the 1st Quake as the warrior appears as a selectable player in the Arena and I think a couple of enemies too...

  • @alxxz Then why did they named it the same way ?

  • @omlas6

    Marketing of course...

  • @alxxz good point

  • @omlas6

Oh, I just checked Quake 4 again and it turns out that the Electricity bolt weapon from the 1st Quake is in part 4 too. I had completely forgotten about that... ;)

  • @alxxz

Story-wise Quake 2 & Quake 4 is consecutively linked and Quake Wars is a loose multiplayer prequel of Quake 2, depicting the Strogg invasion on earth many years before the events of Quake 2.

Quake 1 basically takes place in a grotesque hellish realm and has more things in common to Blood or Doom than the rest.

Quake 3 is a parallel reality where warriors from around the universe are teleported from the heat of battle in order to fight to the death in various Arenas.

  • @alxxz ....so which one are you supposed to play first chronologically? XD

  • @GTK3392

    Chronologically it goes like this:

    1. Quake Wars (Prequel)

    2. Quake 2

    3. Quake 4

Quake 1 & Quake 3; chronologically have nothing to do with the Quake series...

  • any idea why Quake 4 isnt on steam?

  • @BHT70 Quake 4 isn't on Steam because it wasn't developed or published by id software... Steam only has id games, even though this says an 'id game' in the title sequence, id gave the rights to make this game to ravensoft/activision. When's Doom 4 coming out anyway?

  • @omlas6

Wasn't really because of marketing, but licensing rather. Quake 2 was never supposed to have Quake in it's name, but id couldn't get the name they wanted for the game.

  • @Whoo71 What name did they originally intended for the game ?

  • They used dropship from movie Aliens

  • Fuck Halo and it's drama. THIS is how Humanity fights a brutal interstellar war and WINS!!!

    SMC for the win!

  • @PaxImperious

I fucking love Quake and we don't need your derogatory shit towards other games.

  • @lieutenanterrrrrrrr By "we" as in just "you" who just happened to respond instead of just simply ignoring it? Ha!

  • 2:04 he jumps BOINK! lol

  • Dude, I just dont got the point of talking About COD and HALO on a Quake 4 Video :l

  • what the fuck is quake

  • @ItsOvechkin Lol what ? ^^

  • @ItsOvechkin Quake is one of the most legendary and definitive video games in the history, way more legendary and definitive than Halo for example. But, more importantly quake can refer to Earth shake.

  • Ladies and gentlemen, the creativity are gone

  • @MasterEduardoChief

    I concur! :(

Basically COD killed off creativity... :(

People today mostly want mindless death-matches and don’t care for the in-game depth, level creativity / length or story lines.

  • @alxxz I completely agree. I miss these real fps games so much. When you don't die of 3 shots, when you can carry with you all weapons and the weapons are distinctly different for each situation and not just 50 assault rifles that you can choose from. I miss the long and deep storyline that took weeks to complete. When hard didn't mean that you died from a couple of shots in the body. I miss when fps games where only made for its single player campain, and multiplayer was an addition.

  • @Grivahri You mean like call of duty? XP.

No no no, you mean the games where you didn't die of just three shots, but you didn't just last for freaking forever. The games where you don't have just 50 different but the same assault rifles, and you can carry all the weapons you want. And the long ass, but DEEEEEEEEP story line that doesn't even sound half assed.

  • @tangletailpro I'm not sure if that's a quote or an actual comment

  • @Grivahri Fallout? :D

  • @Grivahri than you should try rage (i know it' from th same studio) but thats e friggen awesome game!

  • @Grivahri you dont die from 3 shots in any game

  • @MasterEduardoChief

    Unreal (1998) was awesome too!

By far one of the coolest FPS ever! The exploration & non-linear factor and over all length of this game are simply unparalleled. You actually feel that you’re travelling through an alien world! And the sky with the 2 suns is absolutely gorgeous! Too bad they don't make games like these any more! :(

  • @alxxz Not to mention about the creative and mindbloving levels, like there is level in which you have to fight your way up in an immensively large mountain, to get to the top where you can take a ship which takes you to the skycity.

  • @omlas6

Ah yes that part was so memorable! Actually it was not a mountain but a very tall tower, which can be seen right from the 1st level. It basically plays the role of the iconic most mysterious structure of that planet, as it can be seen from every single outdoor stage and intrigues your fantasy & desire to reach it. I was thrilled & shocked when I finally managed to get to the tower and see it rising from a lava pit!

  • and start like COD

  • This looks like Halo ¬¬

  • @maatii96

It has much better graphics than Quake 2, but the game is a lot shorter and linear, with no exploration or secrets what so ever.

It does have its merits and shocking moments, but overall you might be disappointed...

If you liked Quake 2, you should play Unreal 1 (1998). It has one of the coolest storylines, non-linear game play and a huge alien planet world consisting of 38 levels to explore through.

  • Wait... so this continues immediately AFTER Quake II?

  • @quertzoid

More or less yes. However in Quake 2, it is not made clear of whether your fleet remained in a safe distance until it approached the planet’s orbit for a full scale bombardment & invasion, As in Quake 2 you arrive via a drop capsule similar to the one used in one of the later levels of Quake 4. So we can’t be certain of the amount of time that passed between the 2 invasions.

  • @alxxz At school today, I realized that it has to be a while after... as the marines use different weapons and have a full armor suit... rather than simply a large flak jacket.

  • @quertzoid

Actually the only point you get to see what the Quake 2 marines are dressed with, is at a level where they're being crushed one after the other by some kind of pressing recycling machinery, but I can't remember if they're wearing a flak jacket or armour (Please correct me if I'm wrong). How ever the weapons do indeed look more advanced in Quake 4, with the exception of the BFG10K of Quake 2 which was superior to the dark matter gun of 4.

  • @quertzoid

But if the events of Quake 4 do take place quite a while after 2, then that would explain how the Strogg managed to regroup after the heavy loss of their leader, the Macron and gave out such a ferocious fight in Quake 4. But if so, then how come in the intro the lieutenant mentions the good news of the lone marine that single handedly defeated the Macron as if had happened just recently?!

  • @quertzoid

And most importantly, the fleet would not have been into such a rush to invade and bombard the Strogg home world, unless some decisive victory had been achieved recently that flipped the tides of the war to their advantage (the destruction of the Macron leader by the Quake 2 marine)

So in my opinion, I would say the story does not commence immediately after Quake 2 but not in a while after either… Somewhere in between...

  • Who the hell piloted that dropship? Flew to the other side of the planet it looks like, since no other ships around lol.

  • when rhino squad's dropship is trying to evade that strogg missile, where has the rest of the marine fleet gone???also, any1 notice that all the pilots in this game are voiced by the same woman?? :P

  • WOOOOW That dead marine scared the shit out of me xO

  • its like COD :D waking up in the battlefield

  • :54

    Starship Troopers Much?

  • @Turian100 hahahah i see what you mean by starship troopers

  • @MrPufins

Yep the beginning looks nearly exact like the drop scene of StarShip Troopers

  • people should stop saying this game is too much like halo or sarship nowadays theres no shuch thing as originality

  • @PRVTDickStryker you mist doom ...haha just kidding

  • Comment removed

  • Why does thios intro remind me so much of Starship troopers?!

  • @alxxz cause its sci-fi?

  • @munguntulga

    @0:55 – @1:03

Yeah, but in both Quake 4 & Star Ship troopers, the invasion of the human fleet over the planet as the aliens shoot back energy comet like projectiles and some battle cruisers get destroyed over orbit, these scenes look identical in both.

As if one copied from the other…

For example, the immense space battle at the beginning of Star Wars III over Coruscant, was nothing like anything I had seen in other sci-fi films.

  • @alxxz well the ship got shot by a plasma ball from a giant bugs ass in starship troopers where as in quake the ship got shot by a heat seeking missile. They dont appear similar to me except the concept of getting shot in space and crash landing.

  • @munguntulga

Actually I wasn't referring to the 2 leading ships of the 2 stories, but to the rest of the fleets. In both Quake4 & ST, the 2 fleets are being shot by plasma energy balls coming from the surface. If you look carefully you can see in the background some ships being destroyed by the plasma balls just like in ST.

  • THAT LONE MARINE who kille the strooggs leader? kk

  • evil game but not bad ideas from id software

  • i just noticed but this reminds me of Starship Troopers rofl

  • eewwwwwwwww....the intro is so gross

  • quake 3 is better

  • nice

  • i like quake 4 but i think doom 3 is still a better game

  • Who is the person that sounds like cyborg from teen titans, the actor and the character? I wish his nickname in the game is cyborg, because that would make sense...

  • @halomasterchief14 you mean the sergeant at the beginning loading troops on teh ship

  • @Scorch052 yea

  • @halomasterchief14 Sergeant Morris I thinik

  • das captain keys off of halo combat evolved XD

  • pause the video at 2:21 grafic prob

  • I love how the lead ship is called the patton thats badasssss

  • is it just me or the do the ships look kinda like the imperial ships from warhammer 40000?

  • fire counter messiers what counter messiers all you did was fly realy shity

  • reminds me of starship troopers movie and marines looke like the haze marines

  • hmmmmm quake 4 seems funner 2 play than doom 3 (shuldnt hav bought doom 3)

  • k when i watched this vid. 4 years ago it was good im realy 4 years it was good . even the graghics that look like crap now

  • That first ship is a magnificent bastard.

  • i love the black seargent lol "all right maggots haul ass or DIE!"

  • intro somehow reminds aliens and starship troopers

  • looks alot like halo

  • @THEDOWN27

    Quake: 1996

    Halo: 2001

  • @ChibiwolfXD thankks for the info.

  • im so glad this came out before dead space, if not, there would also be dead space fans blamming this good game >.>

  • i am doomguy and i killed quake2 guy

  • @DornDaniel im sure since quake 2 guy is half robotic hed survive...................OMG......just think of doomguy and quake 2 guy (btw his name is viper) in the same game...........awesomegasm

  • Seeing this makes me realise Aliens is one of the most influential movies ever.

  • pretty obvious Starship troopers rippoff. Or hommage, whatever u like...

  • @omgPepper Nah. This scene looks like Starship Troopers, but the feeling is entirely different. S.T. was a story about militarism and its stubbornness. Quake is about fighting aliens who attacked Earth. No moralizing here: there's a clear bad guy, and they're *really* bad. Think Unit 731 as a planet. Remember that line in S.T.: "They weren't the ones who started this war?" Well, in Quake, the aliens did start the war.
